Chapter 69: Chapter 69

Enver lifted me and laid me down in our bed. He said that I should just rest and stopped me from going back downstairs since Millie would surely be okay together with Ferry and Castiel.

I didn’t complain because I know that I really need some time to rest. I almost passed out earlier because of my headache and I can’t just ignore it.

“Are you sure you are okay?” Enver asked after giving me a glass of water. “We can go to the resort’s infirmary.”

I shook my head and drank the water before giving it back to him. “I just need a few minutes rest and I will be perfectly fine.”

He sighed and sat beside me. “I am sorry for bringing it up. I didn’t expect that this would happen to you.”

“It is okay,” I assure him. “You have the right to know about this because it is part of my past. I just can’t really tell it to you in detail because I keep getting a headache from trying to remember everything.”

“Don’t worry about that, Mi.” He caressed my cheeks. “Just rest.”

“If you want to know the details, you can ask Ferry or Castiel about it,” I suggest. “They know every single detail about that incident. And I am sure, they are both willing to tell you that.”

When we got married, my friends always reminded me that I should tell this to Enver.

It is better for him to be aware of everything that relates to my trauma when I was in high school so he would be able to avoid me from triggering it.

But I was too hard headed and did not listen to them because I planned to bury everything deep in my memories. I know that if I tried to bring it up, it might affect my future and I don’t want that to happen.

I just want to forget everything.

And I actually did.

Though, there are times that it flashed in my mind but I immediately cast it out. And if there was a chance that I felt that my trauma would get triggered, I tried my best to avoid it.

And that is what I call the healing process.

But who am I kidding?

I never really faced that incident. I was just running away from it and denying that it was part of my life. Well, maybe because I don’t really know how to face it so I just buried it deep in my memories.

Even though that incident affected a huge part of my life.

“If we ever open this topic again, then I will just ask them,” he said. “For now, what you shared earlier is enough for me. But should I be worried whenever we are in crowded places?”

I shook my head. “I have already overcome that phase. Ferry and Castiel helped me a lot before so I am fine around a lot of people.”

“Then, what should I be worried about?” he asked. “I know that you have been taking care of yourself but at least, I want to know what I should be looking for that might upset you or something.”

“No need to worry, hubby,” I assured him. “I have already overcome the fears that connected to that incident.” I breathe deeply. “Trying to remember it in detail to tell others is what I still can’t do. And I think it might take a lot of time.”

As long as I don’t try to remember that, there is no reason for him to worry.

Besides, everyone involved in that incident is not from this area. They are all living happily in the province and they never dared to contact me since then so I am sure that everything will be okay.

He sighed in relief. As if he got off the painful thorn in his chest and it made her feel good. “Okay. Let’s just not talk about it.”

“Yeah,” I agreed. “It is not really about me that you should be worried. It should be Amethyst. I have this feeling that what happened to her husband is just a way for the culprit to make her suffer.”

“So, you are saying that the disappearance of her husband has something to do with the spreading of rumors about her being a suspect of killing him?”

I nodded. “I don’t know if the man was involved but I can assure you that those are connected. The person involved is trying to ruin her reputation to the public to isolate her away from the spotlight that she has before.”

It almost happened to me back then. Though, fate was still still good to me despite all the things that happened and brought Ferry and Castiel in my life. They were the only people who helped me get over that incident.

But Amethyst doesn’t have that kind of people beside her.

She has been fighting alone and I know that it is hard for her.

“Do you want me to help her?” he asked. “Though I am not really sure how. The only thing I know is that people will stop talking bad about her once her husband is found. And that was also not easy since a lot of security agencies have been trying to find him and there is still no luck.”

“Tell her to stop focusing on finding her husband,” I said. “Focus on finding the one who keeps reviving the rumors about her. Once she found that person, I am sure, she will also get some leads about the whereabouts of her husband.”

One lead about the spreader of that fake news, she will get an additional path that probably helped her find her husband. I think that is the key to this case.

“I will try to tell her,” he said. “Though I don’t want to give her so much hope so I will not tell her that it might be connected to finding her husband.”

I agreed. “It is for the better. She will be able to move freely on finding more clues if she was not hiding here.”

It is also better for her to focus on everything for herself.

Her life has already got ruined because of what happened and it looks like she doesn’t even do anything to fix it.

She just accepted what people did to her without trying to fight back even though she didn’t deserve it because she was too focused on trying to find that man.

I frowned when I saw Enver was smiling while staring at me. “Why are you smiling like that at me?”

He shook his head. “As far as I remember, you were threatened by her presence earlier when you first met her,” he said. “But now, you are so concerned about her like she is one of your friends.”

I averted my eyes away from him and put my arms on my forehead to cover my eyes. “I… I was just being nice to your friend.”

“You were not really like that to any of my friends back then, Mi.” He took my hand and pulled it out to expose my eyes. “Well, you never really liked my friends before.”

I pouted. “Who would have liked your friends before? They were all jerks and bastards who didn't even know how to respect our relationship,” I exclaimed. “Dashiel was the only well-bred friend you had all your life.”

His former friends were rude to the point that they are trying to set Enver up with another girl even though I am in front of them. They never respect me as Enver’s wife, let alone being a woman.

“It is good that you finally saw their real face.”

He smiled. “Well, I am also glad to know who my real friends are.”

“Amethyst is one of them,” I insisted. “So, let’s help her, okay? Even just a little bit.”

I admit that I was too suspicious of that woman earlier and thought that she liked my husband more than a friend. But after learning everything, I think it is rude for me to continue thinking like this.

She is already suffering and I don’t want to add another reason for her to suffer more.

“Yeah, sure,” he said. “We will help her.”
