Chapter 67: Chapter 67

I left Millie under Ferry and Castiel’s care since she was still sleeping and we went to the restaurant located at the side of the hotel. As far as I know, this is the only place in the entire resort that doesn’t have a lot of people so I suggested it to Amethyst.

When we arrived, we saw her sitting in the corner, where people wouldn't notice her.

She smiled as soon as we got near her and stood up. “I am sorry for making you go all the way here because of my sudden reaction earlier.”

I shook my head. “It is okay.” We sat in front of her. “You don’t have friends, right? Aside from the parents of your husband and your family, Enver was the only one who believed that you didn't know anything about the disappearance of your husband.”

She was stunned. “H-how did you know?”

I avoided her eyes and put my chin in my hand. “I just know it,” I said. “Anyway, the two of you can catch up. I won’t intervene and you don’t have to mind me. You can pretend that I am not here.”

“Mi…”

I looked at them and smiled. “I am serious. You don’t really have to worry about me. You can talk and I will just sit here.”

“If that is the case, then I will just talk to you,” Amethyst said and faced me even though Enver was sitting in front of her. “I want to talk to your husband about you but since you are already here, then I will direct it to you personally even though I know you are not comfortable with me.”

“What?”

“Enver is the only friend I have after the incident the night after my wedding,” she said. “I want to erase this awkward atmosphere around us, Milan. I treasure your husband as my friend, that is why I also want to be friends with you.”

“Are you being serious?”

She nodded. “I know this is not going to be easy since you already told me that you had trouble in your marriage because of some girl in his life before. But I sincerely wanted to be your friend.”

I don’t know what to say. I could only stare at her while she was talking.

“Being friends with a man who is already married is really awkward and I cannot blame you if you will think that I have feelings for your husband but I can assure you, I only see him as a friend. There is nothing more than that.” She pointed at Enver. “He is just a friend to me. Besides, I am so in love with my husband and even though he is not with me, I will never look for another man.”

I can see her sincerity in every word she says. And for someone who has experienced the cruelty of the public, I am sure that she was just looking for a friend who would believe her. Someone who will understand her despite what happened in her past.

And she sees me as that someone.

I sighed. “I…” I sighed again. “It is not really comfortable for me to be close to you as of this moment because of what happened in our past. I can’t help but put up my guards around every woman close to Enver.”

“It is okay. I understand your doubt since we just met earlier,” she said. “We can take our time to get to know each other.”

I smiled and nodded. “I can agree with that.”

Her face lightened up as I said that. And she kind of looks like a kid who just got her favorite candy. Yeah, despite her beautiful face, she looks like a kid to me now.

“So?” I said. “What do you want to know about me?”

“Your love history,” she immediately answered. “I want to know everything about you so I will know why Enver was head over heels to you.”

“Nothing is interesting about me at all,” I said. “To be honest, I am wondering why Enver loves me so deeply that he never stopped loving me even though I left him without saying anything.” I turned to Enver. “Why don’t you tell us the reason?”

His eyes widened, not expecting that I would throw the question back at him. “What?”

“You were the only one who could answer this question.”

He scratched his head. “It is not easy to answer that, you know,” he said. “I mean, I don’t know how to explain it. I just know that I want to spend the rest of my life with her no matter what happens.”

“Really?”

He nodded. “Falling in love is inevitable. It is like breathing that you can never avoid in your life but staying in love with the same person you fall in love with is a decision. Though you still feel whether it will be right to stay or not.”

“And you felt that it is still right to stay together after what happened to the both of you?”Amethyst asked.

Enver didn’t hesitate to nod as he answered. “Milan never did anything bad to me,” he explained. “She supported and respected me throughout our whole relationship. And she took care of me even though she also had work on her own. And instead of nagging me whenever I did something bad to her, she calmly talked to me and made me understand why she was upset.”

Oh.”

“Well, aside from the time that she left me,” he added. “That was too much for her to handle and I understand why she chose to leave instead of confronting me.”

“So, you never really thought of having another woman aside from her?”

Enver laughed. “Why bother?” he asked. “Milan has everything I could wish for. She has been the best woman in my life. She never neglected anything in our relationship. In fact, it is me who has a lot of things that I lack to give her.”

Now that I realize it.

Enver could really get someone to become his wife. He could set me aside and cheat for all he cared. He could get any woman he wanted. Choose someone that his family will approve of.

But he never did any of that.

I once asked him about that but he only said that he already got the best woman he could ever meet in this lifetime. He already got the love and care from the perfect woman in his eyes so why bother to look for another? He will only regret it if he chooses to let go of me.

Yes, he chose to stay in love with me. He chose me no matter what happened.

“So, in the end, it is still your decision that made you choose her,” Amethyst said.

“Yup.”

Sadness filled her eyes while staring at the wedding ring on her finger. “Then, I guess it is really his decision to leave me because he doesn’t want me in his life anymore.”

“Hey!” I called her and that made her look at me. “If you think that it is your fault, then quit it.”

She frowned.

“I know that kind of look, Miss.” I pointed at her face. “And I don’t like what you are thinking right now. Don’t ever question your worth just because someone betrayed your trust. It is not your fault that made her leave you so don’t! Don’t think that you are some worthless bitch that deserves to be alone!”

“Mi…” Enver caressed my back. “Calmed down.”

I breathed deeply to calm myself. “He chose that, Amethyst. You didn’t force him to enter your life. It was his decision to be with you so don’t even think that you neglect anything that resulted in why he suddenly left you.”

“But—”

I shook my head. “You will become a worthless person if you let yourself look like one. If you can’t value yourself, then how do other people value you?”

“Milan…”

“Our relationship is kinda complicated since he never really cheated on me and he was also just a victim of his father’s scheme,” I explained. “But I had this thought before when I was convinced that he cheated on me. I was once like you. I blamed myself, thinking that it was my fault that I was not enough for him to stay loyal and faithful to me. But later on, I realized that throughout our relationship, I did my part as his wife. So why do I have to blame myself that he is not content with me?”

“You realized that because, as you said, you never neglected your duty as his wife.”

“So, you’re saying that you didn’t treat him right?” I asked. “You hurt him, you never respected him? You shamed him throughout your relationship? You never loved him?”

“Of course, not!” she immediately said. “I loved him with all my heart. I always do everything for him. I always understand him even though some of the reasons why he gets mad are just petty things. I never shamed him and I helped him boost his confidence. I gave everything I had for him.”

“Then, it is not your fault why he left,” I said. “Stop blaming and punishing yourself for something that you are not at fault. Focus on your own.”

However, I know that her case is not easy to heal. She was left behind, without any reason. And someone started a rumor of her being the killer of her husband. So she can’t really avoid overthinking about everything.

Until she can’t avoid thinking that it was her fault since that was the easy way to make everything that happened sense to her.

She is the only one who can help herself on how she would accept that her husband left her. But as I said, it will never be easy.

She has been through a lot because of her husband’s disappearance. And there is no way in hell she will be fine as soon as possible, just because I told her that.

She needs more help than this for her to finally recover. For her to be fine when she finally reunited with her husband.
