Chapter 55: Chapter 55
Enver chose to meet Millie first before hearing my explanation so we immediately left the office and drove towards the venue of our daughter’s birthday party.
And he is silent the whole moment. He didn’t even look at me, even once, while he was driving and I know I can’t blame him for being mad at me.
Though, I don’t really know if he is mad or anything. I can’t read anything in his eyes. He doesn’t show emotion and that is what makes me feel more nervous. I want to ask him but I can’t because I know that he doesn’t like how I hide Millie from him.
Until we finally arrived at the clubhouse of our subdivision.
I messaged Ferry and told her that we were already outside so she would ready Millie.
But before we could even enter the clubhouse, Millie got out alone and that is when she faced Enver.
Millie was stunned while staring at Enver. She already saw his picture and I know that she immediately recognized him.
Enver was also stunned. He didn’t know what to do and he was hesitant to reach for her but I caressed his back. He took a deep breath and calmed himself.
I sat beside Millie and held her hand. “Baby, this is Enver Andrius. He is your father.” I turned to Enver. “This is Millie Vera Andrius, our daughter.”
Millie didn’t say anything, which is a total contradiction of what I expect. She was so excited to meet his father.
She always mentioned what she is going to do when she faces him so I am expecting that she will remain talkative and express her happiness out loud.
Enver sat to level their height and offered his hand. “N-nice to meet you, Millie.”
Millie just stood beside me, doing nothing but stared at her father’s hand.
And I can see Enver’s eyes were filled with sadness because Millie didn’t accept his hand. But it changed into shock when Millie suddenly jumped into him and clung into his neck real tight.
They almost fell down but I immediately held Enver’s back.
“Da…daddy!” Millie cried so hard. And after just a while, Enver started to shed tears. “Daddy! You… you are finally here!”
I bit my lips trying to stop my tears from falling down. I don’t want to ruin their moments with each other.
Millie never cried like this. She shed tears but she is not like the other kids who will cry hard in front of their parents. She always cries in silence and this is the first time she cried out loud.
And it makes my heart ache as I hear her sobs. And the pain keeps building up as I can see sadness and happiness in Enver’s eyes.
I can feel Millie’s longing for her father, one thing that I failed to notice before because I was too busy thinking about my own.
And this pain is the result of what I have done.
But there is still a part of me that believes that I did the only thing that was best for all of us. I wasted five years of their lives but I still know that it is for the best.
Just like what Enver said before, if Millie and I were in his life, he will never get out of his parents control because they will use us, his weakness, to shatter every hope he has to start something on his own.
And if I didn’t hide Millie, I am sure that I was the one who was not with her in the first five years of her life and both of them are under the Andrius Clan’ control.
That is still what I believed so even if it hurts, I will accept their anger because of the lost time they have with each other.
I looked at them as they hugged each other tight. Fears that if they let go, they might lose each other again.
And I was about to stand up to give them space for each other but Enver held my hand and pulled closer to them. He then hugged me and kiss our forehead.
“I am sorry,” he said. “Sorry for not being there when you need me. Sorry for not taking care of you for the past five years. I am sorry.”
I shook my head. “Please, this is my fault. You don’t have to say sorry.” I held his face. “I hid her from you even though you deserve to know her. En, don’t feel sorry.”
“Daddy, you will not take me away from Mommy, right?” Millie asked. “We are going to be together, right? The three of us?”
“Yes, baby.” Enver kissed her forehead again. “We will be together. And I will not let anything pull us apart again. I will do everything to protect both of you. To protect our family.”
We just sat there while hugging each other and feeling the moment that for the first time in five years, we are now complete. We are now together.
“Ahm…”
I turned my head to Ferry when I heard her voice.
“I don’t want to disturb your heartfelt reunion but your visitors are all waiting for the birthday girl,” she said.
That is when I remembered the party so I immediately let go of the hug.
I took out the tissue and started wiping Millie’s face. “Let’s stop crying, baby. We need to go back to your party.”
“Mom, is Dad going to sleep in our house tonight”
“Yes, baby,” Enver answered immediately. “We will all sleep together in your house.”
Millie’s face lightened up. Fear slowly faded away and only happiness left in her eyes. She even took a tissue and wiped her face on her own. “Then, let’s enjoy my party. Mommy prepare everything so I don’t want to waste everything.” She stood up and took both of my hand and Enver’s. Then, she pulled us inside the venue.
She happily introduced us to her friends that she invited. And of course, Millie refused to let go of his hand. They are basically together the entire event.
I just let them have their moment and I take care of our guests.
“They are really happy,” Castiel said while looking at Enver and Millie, playing together with the other kids. “And I am also happy for your family.”
“Did you know about the so-called Enver’s on?” I asked.
She turned at me. “The kid that Vivien claimed as Enver’s son?”
I nodded. “Don Emil and that woman came at the office earlier. And as usual, the old man keep insisting on separating me and Enver to marry him off with the Vivien. And one of their reason to convinced him is Enver’s son and you know, their knowledge that I can’t conceive a child.”
“Oh.” She nodded. “You got cornered in that argument and that made you tell them about Millie.” I nodded in response. “Well, that is why there is awkwardness between you and him when you arrive. And we can’t blame him. However you tell him this truth, there is always a possibility that he will get mad at you.”
I am aware of that. Whatever the situation we were in, I can’t still change the face that I hid Millie away from him.
And I am ready to face it.
“Anyway, about Vivien’s son. Enver immediately took a step into confirming if that kid is his son as soon as he was born,” she said. “And of course, with my help and connection, I got a sample and we chose the most trusted DNA facility to conduct the test. To make sure that the result would not get forged.”
“Oh.” I nodded. “That is why Don Emil stopped insisting about the kid when he saw the result. He immediately believed what was written in the document.”
“Well, Enver did three DNA tests to make sure,” she added. “He met with the kid to at least feel if he is really his son but sad to say, there is also no emotional connection.”
I guess Vivien just wanted to secure her position in the Andrius Family using a kid since she knows that it is the most important thing for Don Emil.
“What about Millie?” she asked. “Did the old man believe you when you told him that you had a daughter with Enver?”
I nodded. “I showed them her pictures. And that is enough evidence they need to prove that she is indeed Enver’s daughter since they are so much alike.”
Millie got most of her father’s features. Especially his eyes and nose. She only got my fair white skin. I think they also have the same attitude.
She chuckled. “Maybe that is one of the reasons why you couldn’t move on from Enver. You always see him in Millie’s face and attitude.”
I just shook my head.
Well, I know for sure that even though Millie and Enver didn’t look like each other, there is a way I could never erase him from my heart and mind.
I never loved any other man in my life. Enver is the only one. And I think, whatever happens, I will keep loving him.
