Chapter 46: Chapter 46

Enver gave me what I needed after we talked inside his car.

The time and space that I need. The chance to process everything.

Well, it is not like we are avoiding each other. We are still talking, but he ensured it was all about work. Other than that, he never really mentioned anything about what we talked about back then.

And I silently thank him for that.

I know that what I want is not really easy on his part, especially when I can clearly see in his eyes that he really wants to explain everything about what happened before.

But I am still not ready to hear it from him.

And I also know that this is too selfish on my part but I need to gather more courage for everything. I want to prepare myself for what he might say and what I might decide once I hear what he wants to say.

I had this feeling that whatever he might say to me would give me the urge to finally introduce Millie to him as soon as possible.

So, I am moving carefully with that.

And since I am not preoccupied with other things, I managed to properly organize the celebration party for the partnership of Raiden and Anox. And from the looks that I am seeing at everyone’s reaction as they stepped inside the hall, I guess they all liked it.

“This is great, Milan,” Mikea said as she roamed his eyes around. “You did all of this alone?” Enver said that Mikea and her sister, Michaella, are one of the reasons we managed to reach the target client that we need so he made sure they would be here for the party.

“Of course not,” I said. “I only organized, ordered a team what to do to decorate the place and create a program that will entertain everyone in here.”

This is just a casual party.

I made sure that everyone wears clothes that they are comfortable with. It is not like some fancy party that has formal events, instead, I made sure that the program that I made will make everyone relax and happy for the rest of the night.

It was just a simple party yet an entertaining one.

“Yet you still manage to come up with a great party that everyone will surely enjoy,” she added and tapped my shoulder. “You did a good job, Milan.”

“I know,” I said. “So, go there and enjoy the night.”

I let her go inside and take care of the others who just arrived here. And just like Mikea’s reaction earlier, they were impressed by what I have done, and that made me feel relieved.

After a while, Lancelot and Adze, together with some people they brought that also work at Anox came.

“This is what makes you busy these past few days,” Adze said while roaming his eyes around. “It is nice, huh.”

“Well, I had to make sure that everyone is comfortable with this party,” I said. “After all, this is all for them.”

He looked at me. “It is such a shame that despite your skills, you will just leave this industry,” he whimpered. “You are wasting your ability.”

I smiled. “Please don’t be like that, Adze.” I tapped his shoulder. “I can still use this skill and ability of mine to help you if you need it. Just give me a call. That is all I can do for now.”

“Why?” Lancelot asked. “It is clear to us that you like what you are doing. You are happy working as a secretary but you are giving it all up now. For what?”

“More time for myself and for the people that I care about,” I answered. “If it was just me, I would not give up this job. Even though this is not really my first choice of the job after graduating from college, I learned to love this profession. But everything in my life changed, five years ago.”

“Oh.” Adze nodded. “It is because of Millie.”

My eyes widened as I looked at him. “You…”

He nodded again. “Yes, I know all about you and your daughter,” he admitted. “Well, you are entering Lancelot’s wife so I had to make some investigation about you and Enver. And I got everything I need straight from a legit source.”

I just tapped my forehead as I realized who he might be referring to as his legit source. Only a handful of people know about Millie.

Ferry and Castiel can’t really shut their mouths.

“Anyway, you don’t really have to worry,” he added. “I don’t have a plan on meddling in your situation with Enver so your secret is safe with me.”

I sighed and smiled at him again. “Then, thank you for that.”

“I just hope you start talking about this.” He messed my hair up. “I can see that the both of you are still in love with each other. You are only making things harder for the both of you.” And he entered the hall when he saw Dashiel.

But Lancelot stopped in front of me, which made me frown.

“Is there something else?”

He shook his head and pointed at his chest. “Listen to this, Milan. It will never betray you in any situation.”

“I once listened to my heart, Lancelot,” I said. “And I got hurt because of that.”

He shook his head again. “You didn’t listen to your heart when you saw those files, right?”

I was stunned.

“You choose to run away rather than listen to what your heart wants.” He fixed my hair that his lover messed up earlier. “Trust your heart.” And he followed Adze.

Leaving me here, standing, while staring at Enver who was busy conversing with his employees.

I place my hand on my chest and feel my heart beating as I reminisce about the things that I did that night.

I saw a bunch of files on his phone as proof that he is cheating on me. And I choose to run away and hide from him even though there is something in my heart that urges me to confront him and talk about this issue.

But I was too scared to hear what he might say so I chose to run.

And Lancelot is right. I didn’t listen to what my heart wanted that night and I only chose to turn my back on the problem and run away.

That is why even though it has been five years ago, that issue still causes us nothing but pain.

“Now that I think about it…

If I confront him that night, maybe our situation right now is different. If I gave him a chance to explain that thing, maybe Millie would grow up together with her father. If only I had chosen to do that, maybe those five years wouldn't be wasted in our lives.

I looked at Ferry when she stood beside me and put her arm on my shoulder. Beside her is Castiel who was giving me a sweet smile. Girls…”

“It is not too late, Milan,” Ferry said. “You still have a chance to make it right. The two of you still have a chance to be with each other.”

Castiel nodded as she agreed with what Ferry said. “You already wasted five years of your life,” she said. “Listen to your heart, Milan. And this time, make sure you will be listening to what it really wants.”
