Chapter 31: Chapter 31

“I still can't believe that the two of you are husband and wife,” Adze said while pointing at me and Enver.

I also gave an invitation to them for the event earlier since they are also part of that but they said that they already had a personal plan so I just told them to at least attend the after-party.

And we hadn't had enough drinks when they arrived so they just joined our table.

Though, Lucien, Simon, and Gavin already left after staying for an only half-hour here since they still have work for tomorrow. Other employees also went home so the place is not that crowded anymore.

“Correction, Adze,” I said. “Ex-husband and wife. We were already divorced and moved on from our lives.” I think I drank more than I imagined because I don’t want to say that but I couldn’t stop myself.

“Really?” he asked.

I nodded. “I filed for divorce and let the ferry deliver it to Enver. She is also the one who finalized it at the court.”

“Oh.” He nodded. “Does it mean that you are single?”

I nodded. “Single! But not ready to mingle.”

Enver and Lancelot have their topic at the side and because of the loud music, I don’t think he can hear what I am saying. Dashiel, Castiel, and Ferry were already on the dancefloor enjoying the music.

“Why?” Adze asked. “If you are single, you should entertain suitors. I am sure you have a lot, right?”

“Yeah,” I answered. “I have a lot of suitors who adore me. They were all even ready to accept all of my excess baggage just for me to let them court me.”

“But you didn’t let them.”

I nodded. “Well, I guess..” Nothing beats the first love.

I made sure to stop myself before I could say something that I might regret once the alcohol was gone from my system.

Well, I just realized that it looks like Adze was taking advantage of the fact that I already consumed a lot of beer just for me to answer what he wants to know.

Is he still making sure that I won’t go after his boyfriend?

I glared at him. And that is when he learned that I already realized what he was up to so he just smiled at me.

“I guess what you drink is not enough for you to spill more beans,” he said. “What a shame.”

“I already told you a bunch of times that I will not take away your boyfriend,” I said and grabbed the bottle of beer. “Being in the relationship is not really in my mind.”

I want to spend most of my time with Millie so I wouldn’t miss anything with her as she grows up. I am also busy handling my cafeteria so I can’t spend time with other people, especially if it will only take away the time that I want to live with my daughter.

“Well, I just want to make sure.” He sat beside me. “I already faced a lot of women trying to take Lancelot from me. So I was just used to doing this to the people I met.”

“So, enough of me,” I said. “You are serious about each other, huh?”

He pointed at himself. “Me? I am serious. I even got to the point where I put my own life at risk just to make sure that he is safe.”

“What about him?” I pointed at Lancelot. “Is he serious about being in a relationship with you?”

He shrugged his shoulders. “He is giving me everything I want and showing his love to me but you know, with the situation that we have, I can’t still help but feel a little doubt in his feelings for me.”

“Why?”

“Well, he wants to have kids,” he said. “And I also want that but we can't give that to each other, given that we are both men.”

Adze is still manly when he moves. Actually, there is no indication that he is in love with men. And as we talked about Lancelot, I couldn't help but smile while I was watching his face.

He looked like a woman who thinks about how to make his boyfriend happy.

“Adze, adoption is already an option nowadays,” I said. “Or you can find a surrogate and do the IVF process to have a child.”

He looked at me. “We already thought about adoption but he was still thinking it through. And IVF, I was still convincing him.”

“Or maybe hire a woman, do it traditionally so both of you can have your own children,” I added. I don’t know their situation so I was just giving him additional choices since it looks to me like they were open to anything.

“I am not against that since I still find women attractive but Lancelot doesn’t want to do that after having me in his life.” And it looks like he is starting to get comfortable with me because he can talk about his personal life with me now. “What about you?”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

“When you were still together, did you even plan to have a child?”

I looked at Enver and I saw him looking at me too but he immediately averted his eyes. “Actually, we did.”

“Oh?” he said. “What happened?”

I turned my eyes to him again and smiled but I think I couldn’t hide my sadness. “Well, he couldn’t wait.”

Ah, I must have been drunk.

My chest started to feel heavy and it hurts to remember the things that he did to me.

I want to curse him or even slap him. Just to get even for a little bit like what I always remind myself, it has been five years since that happened. It would be awkward if I dug up that mistake.

I leaned my back and closed my eyes. I need to calm myself or else, I might cry in front of them.

“Milan…” I heard Ferry call me.

I slowly opened my eyes and looked at her.

“It is already ten pm,” she said while pointing at her watch. “You should be going home, right?”

Before I could even answer, I felt the vibration of my phone and when I took it out, I saw Millie’s name appear on it. Well, she is my alarm clock whenever I am outside.

I stood up and tried to turn to Enver and Lancelot to say goodbye.

But I guess I did that so suddenly that I was almost out of balance. But Adze held me tight before I could even fall and that caught the attention of the two.

“What happened?” Enver immediately runs to me.

“I just stood up suddenly,” I said. “I guess I drank more than I can handle.”

“Should we give you a ride?” Ferry asked but I immediately shook my head.

“I can still manage to go home, so please don’t worry,” I insisted. I am sure that they still want to stay but if I let them take me home, they might think of not going back here.

“Are you sure?” Adze assured. “Or do you want me to call a cab for you?”

“I think I got that covered.”

We turned our heads to the one who spoke and I was stunned when I saw Mikea.

“W-what are you doing here?” I immediately came near her. “You should…”

“You didn’t read the message?” she asked.

And that made me take out my phone again and read Millie’s message for me. And it says that they got out of the hospital earlier than they expected so Millie wants to get me so we could go home together.

And by the time I received the message, they were already outside the bar.

I turned to the others. “Ahm, not a good time for an introduction but this is Mikea Reese. She is Enver’s secretary but due to personal reasons, she had to take indefinite leave and that is the reason why I am here.”

I only introduced Mikea to Adze, Lancelot, Ferry, and Castiel since I am aware that Dashiel always comes to Enver’s office so he knows about her too.

I know this is a sudden introduction but it would be rude not to introduce her to them.

Mikea slightly pulled me closer to her. “You didn’t say that you were friends with the owner of Cast Magazine and the most famous car racer of Arch Fend.”

And I just smiled at her. Well, I know that they are famous in their own field but as I said earlier, I didn’t expect them to meet in this kind of situation.

“It is nice to meet all of you,” Mikea said. “I am a huge fan. But… ahm…” Mikea slightly pinched my waist as if she was telling me to say something.

“I should head home,” I said. “Don’t worry, Mikea is a good driver.”

“Careful with the car,” Adze reminded. “Please at least send us a message if you have already arrived at your home, okay?”

I nodded.

We said goodbye and went out of the bar. Ferry and Castiel accompany us until we reach our car. After all, they kinda had the idea that Mikea brought Millie with her because they notice that we are rushing to get out of the bar.

They only played with Millie for a while and after that, we went home. Though, I don’t know what happened as soon as I set my feet inside my house until I fell completely asleep.
