Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Chapter 14

“Mommy watch this!” they shouted as their little faces saw me approaching them.

Upon approaching them, I watched Myles bring a force field up so high it covered the whole pack house. It wasn’t a weak one either. I could see the intensity of it as it formed around it protectively. WOW! Was all I could say at the sight.

If that was not impressive enough, Marcus started tossing large items at it with his energy still not being able to penetrate the barriers stability. They looked more like children just playing than anything else really. Like it was as normal to do this as it would be to play legos or jump rope. Their whole nonchalant demeanor was interesting while I stood there watching them.

Then, like he was stepping into water, Marcus walked into the protective barrier his brother had created! My eyes popped open, mouth ajar gaping. Karin tried to force a shift to protect him from harm. But he was absolutely fine. Marcus was dancing and twirling in the force field. The sight alone made me start laughing at it.

I still could not believe it though! Myles had such control over his field that he could choose to allow or not allow things through it. As I watched Marcus step inside it, it widened as if making room for him… as did my heart's pride.

‘Those are our pups.’ Karin cooed in wonder of them. I could feel my eyes get heavy with tears wanting to form.

“Did you like it mommy?” he said in his sweet little man voice. Pride beaming off from him.

“Yes baby. Mommy’s very impressed and proud of what you and Marcus can do.” my smile reached my ears, it was so wide with adoration for him. I bent down and hugged him tightly kissing the top of his little head.

“Ok mommy it’s my turn.” Marcus said as he jumped up and down excitedly. Not being able to contain his excitement any further.

“Oh of course Marcus! I wouldn’t want to miss what you have practiced.” laughing with him as I playfully pinched his side making him giggle and squeal louder wiggling away from me.

At first I was a little confused about what they were doing. Marcus just stood there pretending to not be paying attention to Myles who was doing nothing. Then out of nowhere Myles hurld a large rock right towards Marcus!

‘Help him Timber!’ Karin bellowed out at what she was witnessing, almost forcing a shift. My own anxiety started to grow within me at the site as I tried to remain calm.

‘Trust our pups Karin. Remember they won’t hurt each other.’ calming myself I reassured her.

Marcus, still pretending to be playing, just sat there. Terror started to fill my body as I tried to not call the elements forth to protect my baby, but before I did anything the large rock had disintegrated into tiny pieces before it even touched Marcus. My eyes about popped out of my head! I couldn’t believe what I just witnessed.

‘Did you just see that Karin?’ standing there in disbelief.

‘Our babies are amazing!’ She cooed and purred pridefully.

Calming the raging storm threatening from within, I stood there shocked at what Marcus demonstrated. That was amazing by far. How did he do that with his green energy?

“Marcus! Your force field was clear… not green? That was a surprise. I didn't even see the protective barrier around you. Very clever baby boy.” hugging them both tightly.

Thankful that both my boys were safe from harm. They not only have good control over their powers but they scared me, and Karin with them in the process. Be still my beating heart!

“Did we scare you mommy?” they asked a little pouty sensing my heart rate increase and the squeal in my voice. Lowering myself to their eye level so I could comfort them.

“Yes you did… a little. I am so very proud of both of you for working so hard to control and manipulate your power energies. Very well done my loves.” Beaming with pride and love I smiled and hugged them more, placing kisses all over their faces.

“We are sorry mommy.” Myles spoke, me giving a confused look.

“We didn’t mean to scare you.” Marcus pouted, providing the answer to the unanswered question that was seen all over my face.

“It’s ok boys. You surprised mommy, that’s all. And I am very much pleased with that surprise!” I entertained, hugging them again.

“Now that you can protect yourselves and others if needed with a defensive force field… I want to help you practice defensive fighting with your elements just in case someone tries to attack you with bad ones… ok?”

“But why mommy? Daddy said we are not allowed to fight in the war with Shamira?” they looked at each other in a daze before returning it back to me.

“Yes he is correct. We do not want to put you in harm's way. But if someone gets past one of us… I want them to rethink ever messing with you two little creatures.” tickling their sides.

“Think of it as if you will be our…” pausing to find the right words for them to understand fully. “... our secret… little… weapons.” I whispered as I tapped them both on the nose individually as I spoke and smiled. Looking at each other they did their unspoken communication that only they can do. Looking back at me they both nodded and smiled folding their arms across their chest like their daddy.

“So, for the first exercise I am going to try to attack you but I want you to call on your power to counter the attack. Like maybe hitting my energy ball with your energy ball or something. OK?” They both nodded in unison with understanding grinning from ear to ear that they get to train with mommy.

Calling on the blue energy, I made small energy balls and threw them at them. To my amazement, they both threw an energy ball at the same time and pop! Making mine dissipated into nothing.

“Excellent boys! Love how you are working together.” I smiled and nodded at the same time. “Now, I’m sending something a little bigger.”

Wham! They collided, sparks flying everywhere. I was so proud of them at that moment. They jumped up and down in excitement asking for more so we did more and bigger, nailing each one that came their way. If an onlooker came up at that moment, they would’ve thought we were having a snowball fight without the snow.

“Excellent work boys! Now I want to try defensive moves while fighting. So Myles you go that way…” pointing for him to go to my right. “... and Marcus sweetheart you go this way…” directing him to my left.

“I am going to throw many things all at once to you both. Just do your best to defend yourselves and not get hit.” watching them nod in understanding.

“Even if that means making a force field for each other.” nodding to them, providing a simple smile of reassurance. Mostly mine though.

“Good. Sometimes you need to spread out a little to create confusion for your attacker and bring yourselves into balance. It could distract your attacker and give you an advantage over them.” trying to provide understanding of why this exercise was especially important for them.

With my boys at either side of me, I started tossing energy balls at them. They blocked and threw some of their own. I felt like we were having a snowball fight again and me being ganged up on the way they kept throwing them at me.

I started to feel a little in over my head before teleporting from between them to behind Myles. Tossing a low energy ball towards him, they yelped as it swooshed right past their bodies before turning around to look at me. Tears whelming up in their eyes as they did.

‘Dont hurt them!’ Karin got scared that I might.

‘I’m not going to hurt them, Karin. Relax.’

“I’m sorry babies… I didn’t mean to scare you.” bending down, I opened my arms as they came running into them tightly.

“So… Tell me. What did you just learn?” I asked them while wiping their tears away with my thumbs.

“Always have a force field up and ready.” Myles said between little sniffles. “Good Myles. What else?”

“Can’t trust mommy in play fighting.” Marcus said in a very serious manner.

I couldn’t help but start laughing at that comment. “Well, you are half right there Marcus.” lifting his chin with my finger so his eyes reached mine still chuckling a little.

“When you are in a fight there are three things to remember. One... always keep a defensive force field up and ready. Two… never trust the person you are fighting to fight fair and three… keep your ears and eyes ready for the unexpected.” looking intently into my eyes they nodded before straightening themselves straight.

“Yes mommy… can we try it again?” they said, looking briefly at the other mischievously. Cocking my head sideways I smirked realizing the boys were up to no good. And it probably won’t be good for me.

‘Uh oh… Uh Timber?’ she clammored out nervously.

‘Yeah what’s up Karin?’ preparing myself for their attacks.

‘I have a bad feeling about this. They are up to something not so good. Better make sure you're watching both of them.’ she warned.

“Yep.” I said popping the p. “I think you may be right there.” starting to feel a little unsure of what to expect from them now. Giving her a mental nod we proceeded.

“OK Let’s go… same positions.” putting on my brave face as I watched them both carefully.

This time they learned. When I disappeared, they turned their backs together to see where I was going to pop up and then waited for me to return before standing side-by-side sending a blast of green and white energy balls in my direction.

Ducking just in time to not be hit with one I fell on my bottom with a thud in shock how quickly they learned. I sat there watching them do a victory dance for a moment or two before they came running to me.

“You ok mommy?” Myles asked and I nodded that I was.

“Did we hurt you?” Marcus questioned, wiggling my head that I wasn’t and giving a small smile of assurance.

“Did we do good that time mommy?” they chorused with smiles as bright as the sun. Rocking back and forth on their heels like the little sheepish boys they are. Both hands behind their backs innocent like.

“Yes boys… you did very well! In fact, you learned very quickly and were prepared that time… excellent work on your training today.” brushing myself off as the boys tried to help me stand by pulling my hands towards themselves.

“Let’s go home. All that training made me sooo hungry! What do you say?” grabbing hold of them in my arms as they shook their heads with eagerness at the sound of food.

Walking was proving to be a daunting task. Not realizing that I had worn myself out pushing the limits. Too tired to physically walk back even that short of a distance. Holding on tight and gently kissing each of them, we disappeared into thin air heading back to the house.
