Chapter 90: Chapter 90
CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
Warning
"Please," Seokjin uttered in a low tone under his breath as his heart hammered through his chest. He was pacing back and forth while waiting for Taehyung to arrive in the court room.
He had enough. He was scared.
For every millisecond that passes by, he felt agitated and restless the whole time, and his heart continue to pound wildly with his mind running a thousand miles already.
Jun was talking about Hanisha? He inhaled sharply, crossing his arms over his chest as he think deeply. He groaned, biting his fingernails. That makes sense.
If Hanisha ever gets her hands on the ring, Taehyung wouldn't doubt her. That was her plan all along. He shook his head, closing his eyes. His eyes shot open, something hit him to the core.
Does that mean Hanisha killed Jun to obtain the ring? And Jun asked me to protect it?
A gasped escaped his mouth, lips parted and his heart clenched in sadness and sorrowful at the thought of Jun being killed by Hanisha. His right man just died to protect the ring, and it's all because of him. His body started to tremble, eyes stinging as he took a glimpse of the letters and the ring he has on his hand.
A letter for Hoseok, and the ring for Taehyung.
The letter will be given to Hoseok, for him to deliver Seokjin's message to his special loved ones. And the ring should be in Taehyung's hands as it is the key to Ha Na's identity.
If Hanisha gets the ring, she will be covered with Taehyung's scent and Taehyung will mistaken her as Ha Na. He can't let that happen.
Seokjin's head snapped towards the door to see Taehyung coming inside the court room. Without wasting a time, he immediately speeds towards him making Taehyung startle in surprise.
"Hyung!" Taehyung squeaked, regaining his position. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
The elder Duke inhaled sharply, grabbing Taehyung's hands, gripping it.
"Can you promise me, Tae?" He asked, eyes became glossy, and moisten from the upcoming tears forming.
"What is it hyung?" The king raised his eyebrows, flustered by the Duke's behaviour. Seokjin fumbled the ring on his hand, before placing it on the younger's palms, and Taehyung's eyes widened, remembering the object he gave that night to Ha Na at the engagement ball.
"Isn't this—"
"It is." Seokjin rapidly, moving his head up and down. "Now promise me something."
"Promise?" Seokjin nodded, glancing at the ring on the younger's hands before closing his palms, grasping the ring inside.
"Promise me that you will give it to the right person."
Seokjin said with a crack on his voice, emphasizing the word 'right', and hoping he would get the message. Because someone was watching him out there. He pulled his hand away, losing the contact of the younger, and he began to wonder if it might be the last time he will be able to touch him.
"I have to go." The elder informed, storming his way out of the room as he speeds towards Hoseok's room.
The letter that was on his hand as well was crumpled a little bit as he placed the letter inside Hoseok's vault. Luckily, he knows the password, and no one could ever get it, not even the strongest vampire nor strongest witch.
He inserted his hand inside his pocket, pulling out Hoseok's memory that was removed weeks ago. This way, you might be able to remember everything.
A tear rolled off his cheeks, a gut-wrenching guilt filled him as he eyed the ball in his hands. "I'm sorry, Hobi..."
He slowly placed the ball inside the vault along with the letter before closing it, and entering the password to lock it. Taehyung might not remember, but at least, there will be you who will tell him what really happened.
Seokjin swallowed thickly, as he remembered something, his lips quiver. "I have to see them."
If this day would be his last day, after being caught by Hanisha a while ago—though he wasn't sure if she did, he at least have to see them. His precious loved ones.
As he speed towards deep in the forest where the wolves evacuated during the massacre, his breath hitched as he stopped his tracks only to see the beauty that was capable to makes his heart beat as well.
It was the beauty that he longed, and missed.
The same beauty whom he loved from the very first time they met at the university, and the same lady whom he fell in love even at the edge of his life.
A smile crept up on his lips, tears racing down his cheeks with his body wracked with onslaught of tears and suppressed sobs. He couldn't take it anymore as he dropped on his knees, feeling his heart break into a million pieces just by watching Caroline talking with a young man—Jungkook, the one he met at the palace.
His heart wrenched, twisting roughly, as he remember the young wolf calling or even thinking of him as his dad back when the wolves attacked the palace. He even made a joke about it, and teased the young wolf.
He even despised himself for not recognising his own son the first time he saw him back in the same forest when the young wolf died. He just literally left his son to die alone in that forest. He hated himself even though his son is alive now.
He never knew, and if he did, he wouldn't have wasted his time to give the young kid a fatherly love he deserves. But now everything would be too late.
"Caroline—“ He stepped forward, gasping and creating a small sound as he felt something sharp on his back, on his left upper back.
"You think you can escape my grasp?" Hanisha's voice echoed in his ears, feeling her abruptly pulled out the silver knife that penetrated through chest, probably hitting a small part of his heart.
He turned around, still on his knees to see the witch he hated so much, yet felt guilty towards. His entire body felt numb when the silver content immediately acted rapidly in his entire system before dropping flat on the floor.
"I did put high contents of silver in this knife." She giggled wickedly, giving a sinister grin yet cocky at the Duke who was whimpering.
Seokjin stared at her blankly, feeling his body goes weak as his mouth oozes out a massive amount of blood from his mouth. The silver contents was painfully and slowly killing him, even he could feel the silver content reaching up to his heart causing it to decay at any moment now.
"Y-You will forever pay for all the sins you did." The Duke stammered, hot and salty tears never failing to stream. The witch didn't respond at the Duke, and just laughed bitterly.
"Do you know how I killed your friend back then?" Hanisha smirked, bending down, her left knee on the ground and the other is up with her elbows resting on it while staring directly at his eyes. "With that extraordinary smelling ability of his, I took advantage of it."
"H-How?"
"Let's just say that he accidentally smelled a poisonous spell that was placed on the trees while escaping from me."
"You're s-so cruel." He clenched his jaw, gritting his teeth as he spent an ounce of energy just to give the lady a glare while suffering in pain.
"He had the ring yet he won't even give it to me, and then I found out that he really did give it to you." She smiled, putting her hands out in front of him. "I can still save you, and you can be with your little family. All I want is the ring."
Hanisha was amazed at how Seokjin reacted by just letting out an amused weak laugh even in his state.
"I'd rather let Taehyung have his happiness with Ha Na rather than be with a bitch like you." He spat bitterly, lifting up all the energy he has left, and with more words he speaks, the more blood came rushing down.
Hanisha growled in anger, releasing an exasperation sigh as she lifted herself up with her hands glowing in red. The Duke shrieked in pain, feeling his entire body burns as the witch kept on putting pressure on the wound using her powers. He took a glimpse at the side, watching at Caroline laughing with their son, Jungkook.
Kim Caroline.
Kim Jungkook.
He didn't even have the chance to show up in front of them, not even having the chance to give his love towards the two. Especially his son.
The son whom he met twice only—first one being the witnessed to his own son's death but didn't even helped him that time, and the second was his own son saving him from the dungeons.
Though he was still puzzled about how the child grew up quickly, and only existed just now.
Seokjin winced, feeling the silver content burning his inside along with Hanisha's powers. And with one last breath, gasping for the last time, he spoke.
"I'm sorry... my wife and son."
Hanisha stopped, smiling in victory, lifting the knife up in the air and crashing it into small specks of dust before vanishing into air, leaving Seokjin's lifeless body.
As she transported, she jumped out, startled when her phone rang and picking it up. Anxiety filled her entire body, not knowing what to do but just answered it nevertheless.
"Come here at the Legendary Garden, I have to give you something." Taehyung said, a clear excitement filled him.
He will give me something? She thought, and eventually agreed, putting the phone down and preparing herself to leave. Such then, the mirror suddenly opens itself, showing the image of the ring again, making her baffled.
