Chapter 78: Chapter 78
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
Italic words are Taehyung's memories
*ch apter might be confusing since it's all about changing taehyung's memories with Namjoon*
KIM SEOKJIN’S POINT OF VIEW
The memory replayed starting from Taehyung who was supposed to be meeting Namjoon for the first time. But what confuses me was that—
"Please save me!"
I blinked twice to get a clear view at the man who was clinging at Taehyung, and shaking my head in disbelief. "That isn't Namjoon."
"What's wrong?"
"M-My father, m-mother. They will kill me."
My breath hitched, stepping forward as I skipped a few parts leading to Taehyung inside the house of the family. I was still astonished about how the witch managed to change Taehyung's entire memory.
"M-Mom!" The stranger yelled as he saw his mother being stabbed by his father.
My eyes landed on Taehyung as he was trying to control himself, but in any second, he brutally murdered and killed the entire family. I took a deep breath, blinking. "She replaced Namjoon as another person? How powerful could she be?"
Staring back at the image that showed in front of me, I began to wonder why it suddenly became dark. And when it came to light, a gasp escaped my mouth as soon as I saw Taehyung stabbing Jimin with a knife.
Taehyung's eyes widened, followed by a scream in horror. "Jimin!"
"Taehyung-ah..." Jimin whimpered.
My lips quiver, shaking my head, and baffled by the startling memory. "This wasn't supposed to be the situation."
"Is that why Taehyung blamed himself for stabbing Jimin? Even though it was Namjoon who did it?" I recalled when Taehyung talked about him stabbing Jimin. Was he talking about this?
"Please, Jimin-ah. Please stay with me." I could hear Taehyung's sobs resonated the entire room I was in.
"Jimin-ah. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
With that, I saw how Taehyung was so desperate to save Jimin as he sank his teeth deep on his neck. Another scene played forward—an unfamiliar scene.
"Protect her at all cost."
"What the hell?" I blurted out, surprised by my beautiful face in the memory. "I don't remember having that conversation with—oh."
I frowned, remembering how that witch must've replaced Namjoon as me this time.
First, she replaced Namjoon as a stranger. Second, she replaced Namjoon as Taehyung who was the one who stabbed Jimin. And now, it's me who replaced Namjoon? Unbelievable.
"Why? What are you so afraid about when you're the ruler?"
I looked handsome there. I groaned, mentally snapping myself out before sliding the image forward. How could I be so narcissist?
"Even with what you witnessed last night, I see that you still care about her." Taehyung frowned, not giving the 'me' in there a response.
"Don't be disappointed. If you want her, get her and steal her away from her lover."
I huffed in disbelief. "Was this supposed to be Namjoon?"
The next scene was during the Duke's meeting yet the only thing that was missing there was Namjoon. Instead of me talking with Namjoon and having my usual dad jokes, it was Taehyung who answered everything.
Everything played until Hoseok came in the scene, and everyone was so happy until the talk of breaking the bonds with the werewolves came. I was the one who spoke Namjoon's part. I literally became Namjoon in that scene.
"Vampires ruled this kingdom! They don't! Yet how dare they touch our people!" I watched as Hoseok yelled at me followed by Taehyung who spoke.
"Are you suggesting that we should kill them?"
I rolled my eyes at the heated argument we had back then. It has always been like that.
"Yah! Jung Hoseok! I've never seen you arguing with Taehyung before. What's wrong with you?" Jimin chuckled awkwardly.
I snorted. Jimin now took my part? That was supposed to be me.
"Fine! Kill them!"
I closed my eyes, remembering the struggles I had to do back then with Taehyung's order. My efforts were only replaced by a mere memory, and became Kim Namjoon.
With a growl, I turned my attention back to the image. I watched as Taehyung was looking at somewhere—it was Ha Na entering someone's house making me raised my eyebrows. I was also behind him as we talked.
"You're the most powerful vampire that ever existed and the first one. What are you so afraid of?"
"I'm afraid of him hurting her, Hyung."
Was he talking about Jimin?
Sighing, I could see his memories, but I couldn't even hear what he was thinking. Taehyung seemed to have a lot of thoughts bothering him. The next memory with Namjoon was played again.
"Listen to me, hyung." Taehyung asked, pleading. "Get Ha Na out of that house! And do everything to get her out!"
I stood there in surprise. Never would I have thought that Taehyung would act like a psychopath just to abduct Ha Na.
"If you don't comply to my orders, I will in no doubt put you in dungeons!"
Was this the day when he decided to abduct Ha Na, and Namjoon was the one who followed the order while I was out there hunting some wolves?
Taehyung's memory began to skip forward, revealing another memory again. My eyebrows furrowed, eyes focused on the screen. Isn't this the one when we talked about Jimin, Taehyung and Ha Na's destiny? Everyone was there.
"You three are destined to have a tragic love story. Ha Na and Taehyung are destined in the first place because they met first. You two don't."
I let out a 'woah' as I couldn't believe I was saying those words instead of Namjoon.
"I'm confused here..." Hoseok mumbled.
I was the one who was confused that time! Not Hoseok! Why did that witch change everything?! Why would this witch go this far?
"Yes. I predicted them. One of the two are destined to die."
My eyebrows raised. Did she just?
No. That witch isn't that kind of person to make a mistake. Did she purposely left it there? I couldn't predict memories; and Taehyung knows that!
Everything got skipped as I scrolled from the right to the left. Everyone entered a certain room and I was the one who has my arms wrapped around Elisse who was coughing blood from not being able to drink blood nor eat for days
So I became Elisse's soulmate now?
While I was Namjoon's replacement, Jimin or Hoseok would either be my replacement as well. With panic filling my body, a lump forming on my throat as I slide my fingers to skip his memories. I couldn't even change his memories nor erase them. They are Taehyung's precious memories. I couldn't, unless I needed to.
As I slid my index finger, I halted when a certain scene caught my eyes.
"Thank you for influencing me back then."
I raised my eyebrows in confusion, and stared, dumbfounded.
"You told me to steal her away from her lover before, remember?" Isn't this what I accidentally heard months ago after Taehyung announced his engagement with Ha Na?
"I killed her lover, Hyung. I killed Yoongi."
My eyes widened, jaw dropped in disbelief. Ha Na had a lover, and Taehyung killed him? I blinked twice, a tremor overtook my body slightly as a single tear tickled my cheeks. My heart started to tickle in pain.
"What has that witch done to mess up Taehyung's memories?" I bit my lips and jaw clenched as the image stopped, showing the scene where it happened before the engagement ball—where it was supposed to be me and Taehyung talking.
"Taehyung, Can you let go of Seokjin's girl?" Hoseok asked making me cringe.
Elisse isn't my soulmate, and will never be.
"Why, hyung?"
"She is Seokjin's soulmate. We can't tear them apart. And remember that she's your soulmate's best friend as well."
The image skipped to the ball as the scene made me watched in anticipation.
"We present you the Four Dukes of Vampires."
"Jung Hoseok."
"Kim Seokjin."
"Park Jimin."
"And Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the King of Vampires, Kim Taehyung!"
My heart dropped to my stomach, and a tingling sensation bothered my chest again. No Kim Namjoon was mentioned but it said four. She made a mistake.
"Namjoon-ah..." I whimpered, feeling a pang of guilt inside my chest. "I'm sorry."
I closed my eyes, inhaling sharply.
"What happened here, Hyung?"
My head jerked up to see the scene where Elisse died in my arms. I was the one crying there, instead of Namjoon.
"Just send Jimin to the dungeons for now."
"Are you sure about your decision, Taehyung?" Hoseok asked that was supposed to be me. "Aren't you gonna forgive him at least?"
"Would Seokjin hyung even agree to that—" My eyes widened, heart thudded louder when I heard a familiar footsteps coming from the distance.
"Shit!" I muttered under my breath as I panicked, not even finishing the memory. I lifted my arms, immediately bringing his memory back to his forehead as I tapped it lightly.
Making my way outside the bedroom, my soul abruptly left my body as soon as I made an eye contact with her. Her silver eyes locked with mine as she shot me a firing gaze that could kill me any second. Her red lips were as red as her outfit that could possibly be the color of my body any moment now. My lips parted, in attempt to say her name as my heart trembled in terror.
"Hanisha..."
