CHAPTER FORTY NINE

Jimin left running towards the palace in panic and mind full of worry as soon as he heard from Jun that Seokjin might be in danger. His mind was wondering off about the scene he would encounter in the palace rather the truth untold that happened a while ago.

He trust Jun.

He didn't mind about anything right now. Not even the case about Seokjin having a child nor Jun finding out that he's a half werewolf—a secret he had a hard time hiding but was found out by a mere vampire with extraordinary ability.

His mind went wild. What did Seokjin do for himself to be sent in the dungeons? What did Taehyung do to Jin? What is happening inside the palace?

Horrible thoughts started to invade the Duke's mind, and when he arrived there, he noticed that almost everything have changed. The aura of the palace has changed drastically in just a span of a day—basically, hours.

Jimin's jaw went wide as he scanned the whole area. What has happened in the palace? More guards were dispatched outside the palace rather than be stationed inside. It was a horrifying scene.

He speeds towards the entrance of the palace, a yell vibrated on his throat asking for Kim Taehyung. And he noticed something. New guards—new guards were outside the palace as it doesn't recognized the Duke's presence in front of them.

"Let me meet King Taehyung!"

One of the guards chuckled at the small being. "This one must be crazy. Who are you calling king?"

They all laughed at Jimin who seemed to think of him as a crazy bastard.

One guard finally knew what Jimin meant before saying in a low tone. "I think he meant the previous king."

Jimin froze as soon as he heard those words. Even though they came out as whispers, Jimin could hear it loudly no matter how low their voices were. Thanks to his best friend—Taehyung, he was able to have hearing, telepathy, smelling abilities and other abilities.

"What?"

"Taehyung is no longer the king, kid." The guard laughed, treating the Park Jimin like a foolish and lost kid, unaware that he himself is one of the Dukes.

But what came out of the guard's mouth came as a shock to the Duke. "King Namjoon is.”

"The gems are rare to find, your majesty." The butler said as Namjoon noticed how frightened he was. He shot the human a piercing gaze as the human immediately dropped on his knees, apologizing in fear.

"Then search around the whole world and find every single damn blue diamonds!" Namjoon screamed making the butler stammered at the new king's presence in front of him, sitting comfortably.

"This crown is for your Queen and you know that!" Namjoon hissed, temporal arteries started to appear on his forehead.

This one is for Eliana—Elisse, my soulmate. Her favorite gems are blue diamonds.

"Y-Yes, your majesty." The butler stuttered and stood up from the ground.

Ever wondered why Namjoon still cared and love Elisse when everyone knows now that he have killed her?

Because of destiny.

He was destined to die but he overturned the destiny instead. He fought off against destiny, ending up with his soulmate being sacrificed. A tear rolled down his cheeks, remembering the destiny he had back then with Elisse's first reincarnation.

[FLASHBACK]

Namjoon's lips trembled as he laid her on the bed. His soulmate, his lifetime, his everything has been stolen in just a blink of an eye.

"I'm sorry" Namjoon sobbed, holding Eliana's hands, interlocking it with his. "I'm sorry that I couldn't protect you from Taehyung and the others..."

Taehyung has forced Namjoon to kill Eliana as Taehyung somehow said that Eliana will someday destroy the Kingdom. And Namjoon, being the Duke, he couldn't disobey Taehyung and that made him despise him even more.

"I promise you," Namjoon sniffed, biting the insides of his cheeks with his eyes turning into red. "I will become someone who can protect you. I will become a King."

Hundred years of being a Duke, Namjoon has finally found his soulmate but it turned out to be a human. Hence, the vampires has followed the rules of the wolves where one should not cross the line.

Cross Law. That's what they call the law where a vampire should not be with a human nor a werewolf and vice versa. It wasn't allowed until another hundred years later. Thus, Taehyung told him to let it go before the officials, also known as vampire elders, go crazy.

Namjoon had no choice but to kill her."I promise you. I will make those people who manipulated us bow before you."

Even after a few days, Namjoon has become emotionally weak after his soulmate died-his powers eventually decreased and Taehyung was always there to lift up Namjoon's energy, making sure that he wouldn't die in the process. He was emotionally in pain.

Because Namjoon has killed his own soulmate.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

In the first reincarnation, he killed Eliana because of Destiny. He was destined to kill her, and it was also Taehyung's wrath to protect the Kingdom.

In the second reincarnation, he overturned destiny and ended up killing her. But his real reason of killing her was because he really wanted to be the King to protect her, just as he promised her.

And In the third reincarnation, he will make sure that he will protect her as a king.

He thought that they could have a chance of having to live long this time because Cross Law has been lifted up and Taehyung has given everyone the chance to be with others, let it be humans or werewolves.

Thinking about it, Eliana had the same method on how Namjoon killed Elisse. He killed Elisse just like how he killed Eliana.

Elisse's death appeared in his mind. How his hands felt when his hands gripped around his own soulmate's neck. How her uneven pants hits the flesh of his face. Everything felt so unreal.

He panicked, thinking about the images that appeared in his head a few days ago. He predicted that Jimin will kill Elisse and he will die if he did. But he never thought it would be this early and never thought about it, that is until he witnessed Jimin who was being so uncontrollable with his action.

Jimin was bleeding Elisse out to the point of unconsciousness but immediately pulled away before he could kill the lady. Namjoon panicked—Jimin shouldn't kill Elisse.

Namjoon saw the anxious state of the younger and left her lying on the floor, barely conscious. Without any thought, Namjoon approached Elisse and bent down. The girl looked at him with a whimper.

"N-Namjoon...." She squeaked and winced in pain. "H-Help me."

Namjoon didn't want this. But he had to. "You like Jimin don't you?"

"W-What?"

"And you were going to help him be with Ha Na, right?" Namjoon's heart ached at his sight.

Elisse was begging him to help her but he has to be cold towards her if he wants to achieve in protecting her. He has to kill her before Jimin could.

"She n-needed to be with him. He needed h-her." Elisse stuttered, closing her eyes.

"No. Elisse..." Namjoon shook his head as tears fell down his cheeks. "I promised you way back then that I would protect you...but how can I when you can't even do that for me?"

"W-What are you t-talking about, Namjoon?" Elisse trembled.

"How could you be a barrier between Ha Na and Taehyung?"

In a second, Elisse was brought against the tree and Namjoon's fangs sucked deep inside her neck—where Jimin previously bit it, with his hands gripped around her neck.

Elisse was too weak to fight and is losing consciousness. She couldn't feel it anymore, feeling like the whole world around her would already collapse until darkness overtook her. But one thing was for sure is that Elisse knew that Namjoon was crying.

And that's the last thing Elisse wanted right now.

With one last sip of her blood, Namjoon snapped her neck before dropping her on the floor.

"You shouldn't have done that." Namjoon sobbed and fell on his knees, wrapping his arms around Elisse who is already dead. "I guess your life here wasn't as long as I thought it would be too. Even in this life, I ended up killing you."

Elisse being the block that was on the way to Namjoon being the King was a great nuisance to him. If Elisse were to live, she would find a way for Ha Na and Jimin to be together, and if that ever happens, that means Taehyung would be out of the picture, maybe continue as a King.

That was why he had to kill Elisse to protect her in the next reincarnation, and himself from death.
