Chapter 46: Chapter 46
CHAPTER FORTY FOUR
Namjoon had no choice but to attack Taehyung with his long slender fingers finely wrapped around the young king's neck. A smirk even played on his lips just by watching Taehyung struggle, so helpless. He definitely had fun playing with Taehyung showing off so weak hence being the most powerful vampire in the whole race.
But what made it even more ridiculous was that, the guards whom Taehyung thought to be loyal and his people were now surrounding him with silver spears— all ready to kill him at any moment. It was the men who was with him, and suffered with him ever since from the start.
Taehyung glanced at Namjoon whose smirk widened even more. He felt his own face grow warmer and hotter the more the Duke in front of him tightened his fingers around his neck. His temporal artery became visible from the grip, his breathing became rigid as he tried to speak and breathe at the same time.
"H-Hyu—"
"Do you know why I killed her?" The Duke chuckled just like a maniac, interrupting Taehyung. His red eyes bored into the young king's widened brown eyes. "Let me list all of them then."
Taehyung trembled a little bit, confused as to why Namjoon said those word when all he just did was ask. But then everything that happened hit him—Namjoon was the one who killed his own soulmate? It's not like the Duke denied anything. He directly said the truth.
"First," Namjoon inhaled sharply, loosening his gripped around Taehyung's neck before going back to tighten it making Taehyung's breath hitched. "It's because she nagged too much."
The next second, Taehyung was thrown across the room, moaning in pain when his back hit the wall so hardly. "Second, It's because she's in love with someone else, and not me."
Namjoon walked towards Taehyung to face him, bending down on the process, and meeting his eyes. "Do you know how that feels?"
Of course, I do. I know damn well what it feels like when a person doesn't love you. Taehyung mentally screamed.
"Third," Namjoon hissed, gritting his teeth, and eyes turning dark shade of red. "I saw the images of Jimin killing her in the future. So I had to kill her in order for me to live because If she dies in the hands of Jimin, I will in no doubt die. I don't want that. I still have to do a lot of things."
Images of his own death gathered in his mind. He shook his head before adding with huff. "I'd rather kill her on my own with my powers temporarily decreasing than wither without achieving my real goal. Call me selfish for killing my own soulmate for me to live."
Eyes became teary for the Duke but Taehyung was oblivious about it. "I mean—Isn't that what a soulmate's job? To protect their partner?"
Taehyung looked at Namjoon, flustered and in disbelief with tears forming on his eyes wondering, why didn't he think about it? Namjoon is cruel as well and killed a lot of people—even killed the most important person in his life. So how could he not end another love again?
Of course, Namjoon would. Taehyung regretted everything as he was blinded by anger that he immediately accused Jimin even without thinking that Namjoon can kill her too. How would he when Namjoon and Elisse are soulmates.
Soulmates should love and protect each other, and not kill for their own selfish reasons.
Namjoon was right, his powers will only decrease if he would kill his own soulmate, and if not by his own hands, he will wither and die.
"And lastly," Namjoon choked out his words—Elisse's figure invaded his mess up, greedy mind. "It's because she's getting in the way of making me a king."
"What?" Taehyung choked out his saliva.
"Haven't you noticed it, Taehyung?" Namjoon shook his head, pretending to be astonished about the oblivious and dumb king. "In the first place, I provoked you in stealing Ha Na and killing her beloved. And then gladly, you took it."
"What are you talking about, Hyung?" Taehyung asked, still bewildered by the situation. Namjoon raised an eyebrow and stood up, grabbing along Taehyung by his collar.
"Don't play dumb and innocent with me, Taehyung." With that, he pushed Taehyung back to the ground and turned around, his back was facing Taehyung.
"You didn't even realized that you were becoming weak. That's what I wanted. For you to become weak because of a human." He snorted, amused. "And Elisse had to get in the way between you and Ha Na. That would ruin everything that I planned."
Namjoon's lips trembled. "Everything that I did was for me to be the King,"
Taehyung lookes into his eyes, filled with sincerity and pain. "And to protect her next reincarnation."
Seokjin turned his head around, his heart escalated so quickly, feeling uneasy about the atmosphere around the palace. Noises were everything that could be heard before he finally processed everything that is happening. He stood up, breath hitched as he speeds towards Jimin, but was stopped when Hoseok came out of nowhere and blocked him.
"Hyung, he didn't do it right?" Hoseok asked the startled Seokjin, his lips trembled.
"Did you see it?" Seokjin choked out his words, eyes piercing through Hoseok's eyes. The man has the ability to see someone even from distance after all.
And Hoseok nodded—he knew what his hyung was trying to say. He saw it all—everything that happened in the court room. His eyes, his ability, saw it all. But he didn't want to believe it, Namjoon wouldn't do such thing.
"Namjoon..." Seokjin shook his head before closing his eyes tightly. "He finally betrayed Taehyung."
"What?" Hoseok's expression fell. "No! It can't be! Namjoon wouldn't—"
"But he did, Hobi." Seokjin firmly said, seriously. It finally hit Hoseok to the core that Namjoon really did betray them.
Hoseok snapped out of panic, remembering that Ha Na and Jimin are still in the palace, and thinking of a way to get all of them to get out.
"Get Ha Na and Jimin out of the palace." Hoseok demanded. "I will see what happened there."
"What about you?" Seokjin asked nonchalantly as he stopped him.
Hoseok stared at the eldest for a moment. "I will be fine. Namjoon won't hurt me."
With that, Hoseok speeds off with Seokjin watching him going far away. His heart ached in pain, as if it was telling him that something is going to happen.
"Please be safe, Hobi." Seokjin speeds off towards Jimin's room. But the man was nowhere to be found, even Jimin's scent was nowhere.
Where did he go? Seokjin wondered. But then from far away, he heard whimpers and moanings. Ha Na?
His eyes widened, immediately speeding towards Ha Na's room again, not even remembering that he was trying to find Jimin. He slammed the door open, revealing Ha Na who was curling on the bed. He walked towards her, staring at the figure.
Seokjin's eyes bulged out of his sockets, realizing that Ha Na looked so sick. He sat beside her, patting her and shaking her, trying to wake the girl up who was whimpering, trembling and shaking vulnerably with sweats forming on her forehead
"Why do you look sick?" Seokjin shook her, and she let out a shaky whimper. "Ha Na, wake up!"
Ha Na shifted from her sleep, eyes flattered open to see Seokjin who was worried at her. A sad smile formed on her lips, letting her tears fall down her soft cheeks.
Seokjin watched as the lady cried, her lips were crack and pale, eyes looked red. "What happened to you?"
"Jimin—" Ha Na inhaled sharply as she sniffled, head throbbing from pain. Her voice was hoarse. "J-Jimin. He's going to die."
"What do you mean?" Seokjin snapped out, eyes furrowed. But then voices of screams were heard from the outside making him panic. His ability was acting up in this situation.
"I saw it in my dreams, Jin." She cried, but the Duke didn't seem to hear her as his ears were focused on the noises outside the room. "He will die—and Taehyung—"
"What are you talking about Ha Na?!" Seokjin fixed his eyes on her, but didn't process what she said. The noises were getting louder and louder. He stood up, grabbing Ha Na by her arms to help her up. "Let's get out of here!"
The Duke couldn't wait anymore as he was frightened to the point where he agressively held and lifted Ha Na in a bridal style even though she looked ill.
The two of them escaped the palace together, not caring who was left in the palace. Seokjin needed to protect Ha Na as he promised to protect and repay her in this life. His sins maybe couldn't be forgiven but at least, he had to do something to repay his sins.
