Chapter 47: Chapter 47

I had just put Aurel to sleep when suddenly the door to my room opened, revealing Brenda and Rex standing at the doorway, irritating me immediately.

"Can't you guys let me rest for a moment?" I said, while looking down at Aurel who was curled up in my arms.

"Leave Aurel for now. We have to go to the Plantae Territory," Brenda said, causing me to raise an eyebrow at her.

"Why do I have to go to that forbidden area?" I asked, because I had only been allowed to cross the boundaries of the Neutral dimension so far. Could it be that Brenda had reported something to the king over there?

"What did you report to your beloved father over there?" I questioned her.

"Come on, Gray. We can't just let you continue like this. We need assistance from them," Brenda said, causing me to peel back the blanket covering part of my body. I moved slowly so as not to wake Aurel, who was sleeping soundly.

"We'll talk outside. I don't want my soulmate to wake up just because of your pointless chatter," I said, walking past Brenda and Rex before we continued our conversation in another room.

"What's actually happening?" I asked directly.

"Without even informing them, the Alpha King already knows about your awakening. Of course, he would know about his own child rising to become the next heir to the throne. Did you think we could hide it forever?" Brenda explained, leaving me momentarily speechless. I had anticipated that it would come to this. I thought I could delay it a bit longer until I figured out how to take Aurel out of this world.

"So, why do I have to go to the Plantae Territory?"

"We're just passing through it. We don't know if you can still pass through its boundaries now that you've undergone your awakening. If you can enter the Wentira Course without any obstacles, it will make things easier for us," Brenda clarified, causing me to look at her with a puzzled expression.

"What do you mean? Of course, I can since I'm already part of my own kind. I've become what I was supposed to be all along," I said, making Brenda shake her head while Rex remained silent, listening to our conversation. I knew he was restraining himself at the moment.

"You can't enter the Wentira Course without Aurel," Brenda said, instantly making me stare at her in disbelief.

"What do you mean?" I asked, urging her to explain.

"I've talked to Blaze that you can't leave your soulmate behind in the human world," Brenda said again.

"Does that mean they know that my soulmate is a human?" I asked, making Brenda nod. I rubbed my face roughly. I hadn't even confirmed everything yet, and now it seemed like they didn't want to give me any time to think about Aurel and me.

"Can you tell them to give me a little more time until I can reassure myself about Aurel?" I asked, hoping for some leniency from them. But this time, Rex cut in before Brenda could answer.

"How much longer are you going to keep acting like this? Shouldn't you give an explanation to Aurel, or maybe even reject him? It might be better," Rex said, seeming to really dislike the fact that Aurel was my soulmate. I clenched my fists, and with a quick movement, I grabbed onto Rex's clothes. I was just about to swing a punch if Brenda hadn't stopped me.

"Stop this childish behavior, both of you. Rex, we're not looking for a more complicated path. We should be helping Gray. We need to figure out how to make things better," Brenda scolded, causing me to finally release my grip on Rex's clothes, albeit forcefully.

"Are they accepting Aurel?" I asked, getting to the heart of the matter.

"For now, the news hasn't reached anyone else, only the Alpha King and our trusted people. I don't know if they're aware of it. And it seems like you need to do it soon. We have to find out what the effects on Aurel will be if you perform the MateBond," Brenda said, making me look at her. I rubbed my face roughly. I had really been holding back until now, trying to find a way out and also figuring out what would happen if I truly bonded with Aurel. Would it hurt him? Would there be any negative consequences?

But with the urgency of the situation now, it seemed I couldn't delay it any longer. I glanced at Rex, who obviously disagreed with Brenda's idea. He hadn't fully accepted that Aurel was my mate.

"Not like that," Rex said, in a way that indicated he was reading my thoughts. I wasn't restraining my thoughts at the moment, so they could easily read them.

"I'm just afraid that Aurel will get hurt," Rex said, and I nodded in agreement.

"That's exactly what I've been thinking. I asked you to give me time and handle everything, but you bring news I don't want to hear," I said, pausing for a moment before looking back at Brenda.

"What's the percentage of failure if I were to force it on Aurel right now?" I asked Brenda, since she had experience in bonding with a human and had already experienced the MateBond with Rex.

"70 to 30," Brenda said, making me raise an eyebrow.

"Don't tell me that 70 is a bad thing?" I asked, making Brenda bear the weight of my questioning. Once again, I didn't know what to do.

"We won't know until we try. We can reverse it easily, and it's your destiny that can do that. If you don't try, we can't just sit still like this," she continued until I started to feel like our conversation was going nowhere.

"I want you to find out everything you can about the MateBond relationship between me and Aurel," I said.

"What about Alpha King? Shouldn't he be summoning you soon? Maybe he just wants to confirm your awakening," Brenda suggested, causing me to look at Rex.

"Call Thunder to guard around the house. We'll go to the Plantae Territory now," I said, making Rex step forward.

"I'll stay here to watch over Aurel. I'll leave Thunder to go with you," Rex replied, wanting to take over the responsibility.

"You just need to follow my orders. Call Thunder and the others to guard this house. You and Brenda are coming with me. There's no other choice, Rex," I said firmly, leaving Rex with no option but to comply.

Apart from the Neutral dimension and this human dimension, there's nowhere else I can easily access, especially now that whatever is asking me to go to the Plantae Territory. This is a first for me, after such a long time.

"Do you need my help to enter?" Brenda asked, making me sigh in frustration.

"Don't underestimate me now," I said, shooting forward quickly, leaving Rex and Brenda behind. It seems my arrogance got the best of me as my energy was nearly drained while transitioning from the Neutral dimension to the Plantae Territory. However, I managed to regain control, and the same went for the alpha within me.

We held onto each other until we finally arrived in the dimension where Wentira and the human dimension intersect, and where the Neutral dimension acts as a sort of border for us to enter my world.

"You can call anyone now," I said, prompting Brenda to use the Packlink to notify the people in Wentira that we were now in the Plantae Territory. In the next moment, light appeared in front of me, creating a large hole that became the main gateway connecting this dimension to the Wentira Course. I went through it, seeing an elderly man with his air of supposed wisdom, surrounded by his trusted aides.

As usual, he looked at me with a haughty gaze. Somehow, people associate his face with that old man's face. It's quite clear that I'm much more handsome than that old man.

"It's been a while since we've met, Gray, or should I say I can now call you Alpha, my successor," Alpha King said, making me snort.

"I don't have time for pleasantries, Your Majesty," I retorted, without even giving him the respect that Brenda and Rex were showing him. I continued to stare at him defiantly and arrogantly. I didn't want the old man to continue intimidating me by bowing in submission to him.

"It seems you've forgotten the protocol when meeting your king. It's better to bow down first before you release your arrogance," he said, pointing his finger at me, and suddenly my body froze. Without my consent, I found myself kneeling in front of him until he raised his index finger again, and I regained control.

Damn.

If I were to become king, I would do the same to him, I thought.

"Don't attempt to seek revenge on your own father," he said. I had already protected my own thoughts, but he still managed to read my thoughts.

"So, why does His Majesty the King want to meet the discarded child so disrespectfully? It seems there's something important that you're calling me to the territorial that I'm prohibited from entering," I said, making Alpha King fall silent for a moment.

"As I've learned, you've awakened, and it's about time for you to return to Wentira and take over the throne in the future. I need to observe your progress in person to determine if you're fit to be the successor or not. But before that, I want to make sure of your soulmate as well," Alpha King said, and that's when I grew anxious. If he only wanted to discuss me, I wouldn't mind, but if it involved Aurel, I needed to be cautious.
