Chapter 46: Chapter 46
Finally, after my insistence, Gray agreed to let me sit in the seat next to him. I didn't know what he was thinking when he came up with the idea of driving with me sitting on his lap earlier.
"Rex?" Gray asked as he resumed driving his car, making sure there wasn't any unpleasant smell he referred to lingering around me.
"It seems he had something else to attend to. He asked me to go home first," I replied, causing Gray to nod. He then turned to look at me, pushing my hair aside and proceeded to hold my hand, playing with his thumb on my palm. I just smiled. Somehow, Gray's small gestures made me feel happy.
"Have you eaten?" Gray asked, making me shake my head.
"Just had a few pieces of bread to fill my stomach when I was at the cafeteria. I didn't even have a chance to eat properly since Maudy dragged me to the library," I answered, making Gray click his tongue in annoyance.
"Ah, I should have warned her not to drag someone along like that," Gray said, seemingly irritated by Maudy's behavior.
"It's okay, I don't mind doing it. I like helping her," I said.
"Yeah, that's why you met that jerk in the library, right? And if Maudy hadn't dragged you, you wouldn't have met him," Gray said, making me look at him with a questioning gaze.
"What do you mean by Ramon?" I asked, causing Gray to give me an unhappy look.
"Don't mention his name in front of me, and from now on, if you're prohibited from using his name, just call him 'jerk,' okay?" Gray said, making me continue to stare at him, requesting an explanation.
"You do know, right, about the rumors circulating in school regarding my relationship with him? It's not good at all, and I don't like him being around you, or like earlier, even touching you. I don't like it at all," Gray said, making me more curious about their relationship. Somehow, it sounded intriguing to me.
"What exactly happened between you two that you have such a bad relationship? Oh, and is he the same kind as you?" I asked, making Gray nod. That's probably why he could smell the unpleasant scent of Ramon on me, I thought.
"So, if you ever meet that person in the future, it's better if you avoid him, okay?" he said, making me nod. After all, there's no reason for me to meet him again, I thought.
"Where are we going?" I asked when Gray didn't head towards the road to my house.
"You haven't eaten yet, right?" Gray asked again, making me nod.
"I'll cook something for you, so we'll head to my house first. Don't worry, I'll let Rex know later and he'll give you a ride home," Gray said, finally convincing me to follow his plan. Gray parked the car in his driveway, then opened the car door for me. He held my hand and walked slowly towards his house.
"Where's Brenda?" I asked, noticing the quiet atmosphere, or rather, it's usually quiet every day, but it felt like Brenda wasn't home.
"She's at Wentira course," Gray answered, making me look at him with a questioning gaze.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked again, prompting Gray to shake his head.
"No, it's like a monthly report that has to be submitted to the king there."
"Your father?" I asked because as far as I knew, their father is the king over there.
"Yeah, just consider it that way. I don't know, I just don't like calling him the King, he's too cruel to his own children," Gray said, making me smile. He didn't take me to another room; he led me straight to the kitchen and sat me down at one of the chairs by the pantry table. He then went to the refrigerator, took out some ingredients, and placed them on the table in front of me.
"Can you cook?" I asked, making Gray smile.
"Well, I guess you could say I'm good with a knife and using the stove. I don't know if my food is delicious or not, but I think I can eat it," he replied, making me smile.
"Do you need any help?" I asked again as Gray began to busy himself with a knife in his hand.
"No, you just need to sit there and keep looking at me like that. I like that admiring look in your eyes," Gray said confidently, making me smile. I then took out my phone.
"Can I take your picture?" I asked again, realizing that I actually didn't have a single picture of Gray on my phone.
"Go ahead, do whatever you want," he replied, making me finally start taking pictures from every angle that looked good, especially avoiding any angle that would make Gray look even slightly unattractive. His face was already perfect, and I couldn't even blink my eyes as I kept staring at him.
"My face might develop holes if you keep looking at me like that," Gray said with a smile on his lips, helping me snap out of my admiration. I then decided to get up from my comfortable seat. I couldn't just keep staring at him forever. I wanted to get closer. He was cutting some vegetables and behind him, some meat was being cooked.
"Are you making skewers?" I asked.
"Yes, indeed. Sit back in your spot; the food will be ready soon," he replied, causing me to shake my head.
"No, I want to see it like this," I said, causing Gray to pause and then look at me, folding his hands.
"If you're this close, I won't be able to concentrate on cooking," he said, making me look at him with a puzzled expression.
"Why would I disturb you? I promise I'll just watch," I said, but Gray ended up pulling my waist to bring me closer.
"I can never resist when you're this close. I always want to touch you and do other things," he said, now burying his face in the crook of my neck, which tickled slightly.
"That's why it's better for you to keep your distance before I can't focus on making you food anymore," he continued, releasing his embrace. But as Gray moved away, I immediately stopped him. I grabbed his wrist and turned him back towards me.
"I like it," I said, pausing before completing my sentence and responding to Gray's surprised gaze.
"I like whatever you do, anything at all," I continued, and after that, Gray let out a rough breath, abruptly turning off the stove. He then firmly gripped my waist, causing me to shriek as he suddenly lifted me and placed me on the pantry table.
"Hey, the table might collapse if I sit like this," I said, making him click his tongue in annoyance.
"I told you, you're not even a little heavy," he replied, and I was about to retort, but he enclosed me between his body.
"You were wrong for stopping me, Aurel," Gray said, making me respond with a gaze. I didn't know what was happening in my head right now. It suddenly became very mischievous. Instead of avoiding it, I wrapped my arms around Gray's shoulders, causing him to look at me with raised eyebrows.
"And then?" I asked, almost challenging what Gray wanted to do. He laughed in a playful manner.
"It seems you're becoming bolder now. Aren't you afraid of me?" Gray asked, causing me to shrug nonchalantly.
"From the beginning, I wasn't afraid of you."
"But do you hate me?" Gray said, making me not answer.
"Maybe irritated, to be precise. I'm a little annoyed, not hateful. You know, it's not your initial behavior that bothers me. The way you acted when we first met was really repulsive, but it doesn't mean I hate you," I replied, making him smile.
"Well, that's a bit of good news. Luckily you don't hate your soulmate," Gray responded. And then, just as I was about to answer his question, Gray leaned in and nipped at my lower lip quite firmly, causing me to wince. I was sure Gray was now smiling, pleased with playing around with me.
"That hurt a lot," I said.
"Whether it's painful or pleasurable, I'm pretty sure you liked it. Especially when I kept inhaling your scent and you were reacting on your own," Gray said, moving his face closer to the crook of my neck and taking in my scent deeply. I shook my head in response.
"Not like that, it's just that I don't hate it," I answered, but Gray immediately pressed his fingers against my nose forcefully.
"Never lie to me. Even though I haven't marked you yet, I can vaguely sense your emotions and also feel what you're experiencing in your body. So, never try to fool me," Gray said, making me sigh in frustration.
"Why is it that only you can feel it? I can't feel anything from you," I said, feeling irritated. Gray then extended his hand and gently stroked my cheek.
"You'll feel it too later, after we're truly bound," Gray said, causing me to gaze into his eyes.
"What's the difference when your eyes are glowing and when they're like this?" I asked, making him pause for a moment.
"When my eyes are glowing, it means I'm merging with my wolf soul. His name is Alpha," Gray explained, leaving me quite confused with his explanation.
"So, in one body, I have two souls," he clarified, prompting me to nod.
"As you know, I'm a werewolf, and I have my wolf soul. We've only recently met after I experienced my true awakening. This meeting was very, very late. In reality, he's been dormant inside me all this time. Thanks to you, we were able to merge," Gray said while continuing to stroke my cheek.
"Does he also know about me?" I asked, which seemed to amuse Gray as he chuckled.
"Of course, from the beginning, we knew that we would find our Soulmate. It's just that it's become apparent recently. He knows what I know, he feels what I feel. If I desire you in this way, he does too. But he has a thinner patience threshold compared to me," Gray explained, making me even more interested in listening to their story.
