Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Xavier closed his laptop frustrated. It was no use pretending that he was working. He hit his hand against the mahogany table, its sturdiness and hardness agitating him the more like a mocking reminder, a silent taunt.
That's what he was supposed to be, sturdy and hard so why couldn't he stop thinking of a particular brown eyes fragile petite woman he thought.
"I shouldn't be thinking of her." He whispered as he fisted his hand to his side, a universal sign of weakness he thought scowling.
He didn't have a problem if he was thinking of how she appealed to him physically, though that was a mystery that he couldn't wrap his hand around yet.
Because a month ago, he could confidently say that she was nothing he wanted in a woman.
He preferred his women quiet, humble, and obedient. But, she was stubborn, a damn talkative ready to air her opinion, any day, anytime, besides she was damn intentional about upsetting him and had made it very clear to him that she wanted nothing to do with him, regardless of how many times he had taken advantage of her physical attraction to him and had made her body succumb.
But in a fucked up way, instead of being irritated her attitude amuses him and lures him instill.
He has always hated women who acted hard to get because he believed that every woman has a price. He loves a bold woman who knew what she wanted and was ready to negotiate with no strings attached and Maya was nothing like that.
And what more? She wasn't even acting up, she was hard to get and that just intrigued him the more.
But his annoyance was that he wasn't thinking of her pink parted lips or the lips in between her thighs. He wasn't thinking about the dazed look in her eyes when his tongue did wicked things to her or the way she tastes rather he was thinking of her.
The way she shut her eyes tightly and raised her hand protectively.
She was damaged.
She had issues.
That was a complete red flag and a warning that she wasn't meant for him, he hated complicated and tried avoiding it as much as possible but what he felt for her just wouldn't budge.
He couldn't tell what the emotion he felt for her was, couldn't find a name for it but it certainly didn't just want or lust after her. That's what he felt for Ashley his favorite call girl.
But what he felt for Maya was intense, it was scary. It was an obsession he thought.
She had run out of the office and never returned. Ordinarily, she was fired no matter the reason. To him, Discipline comes before emotions. Once upon a time, his assistant had left her desk, because her mother had an accident and was hospitalized.
She came back to meet a sack note but with Maya everything was different. Instead of feeling rage, he felt an emotion he haven't felt for years - Concern tugging his heart.
This fragile woman has managed to consume his thoughts and it was driving him insane. The kind of power she had on him was frightening as he couldn't help but feel she would take advantage of this if she finds out.
First, it was him bending his rules to accommodate human feelings and he wondered what next.
She was innocent and all but there was a dangerous glint in her eyes, it was obvious she was a reformed bad girl.
She was more than daring, she was like a ticking bomb, and the uncertainty she made him feel as he couldn't figure her out completely was getting to him.
~He hated not being in control, not being in the know, he hated surprises.
He couldn't help but feel she had a dark side beneath her goody-two-shoes exterior, and that bad girl side of hers he saw briefly that night she had flipped their positions in the hotel will certainly exploit this obsession he had for her.
He needed to get her out of his system and he needed to do that fast because these new unchecked emotions of his If not controlled will lead to his downfall.
These feelings were for losers, he thought and he Xavier stopped being an awestruck infatuated teenager a long time ago and would not be swooning over anyone in a thousand years and she wasn't an exception.
**
As the elevators dinged a signal that she was on the top floor. Maya squared her chest, her head held high even though she was nervous and her insides were a quivering mess.
She was aware that her actions yesterday were way off and unprofessional and she was as good as fired.
Jessica had bluntly told her not to bother showing up but she was going to do the right thing by coming to get it over with. Face to face, rather than moping inside her room like a coward.
His office was empty which wasn't odd since she was 15 minutes earlier than the normal time.
She was about to leave his office when she felt his presence, the intoxicating male scent of him that might be an aftershave or cologne but just added to the whole sexy powerful man's aura.
She heard his firm footsteps and shivered knowing he was walking towards her but she didn't dare turn. He wasn't even touching her but his mere presence alone sent goosebumps and chills down her spine.
"Good morning mmm...." He trailed off like he was trying to remember her name.
Maya whipped her head back in disbelief, Almost bumping into him as she turned, not expecting him to be that close to her.
"Maya Luke." She whispered, and even though she knew he was pretending and trying to irritate her, the moment made her realize that one day it could happen.
She didn't know why he was keeping her around, but once they need for her expires she will become invisible and forgotten, just like it was meant to be.
He smirked.
She scoffed internally, tempted to roll her eyes but for once her self-control was prevalent.
"Yes Miss Luke, get me a cup of coffee..." And then pausing he narrowed his eyes at her. "Black coffee without cream and a dozen cubes of sugar, just to be clear." He taunted, referring to yesterday.
"And clear my schedule from12 pm to 1 pm, I would be busy." He added and then just like he came, he briskly returned to the room which was still a mystery to her.
She was curious to know what was behind that door, but that was one hell of an adventure she was not going to think of.
Xavier Salvador was a mystery on his own and well she had no business figuring him out and would rather be curious forever besides it adds to the charm she thought.
She smiled to herself just realizing that she wasn't fired, he was being his normal annoying self hence everything was back to normal and she still had her job anyways.
The storm was over she thought but she was so wrong.
At exactly noon she was just about finishing the project outline of the Chicago contract that was just handed to her by her oh so considerate boss a few minutes to her lunch break, she thought rolling her eyes at her use of sarcasm while typing away consistently so she could rush off for lunch when she heard the clicking sound of heels against the tiled floor.
She looked up and was taken aback by the woman in front of her. Nothing prepared her for how gorgeous she looked, with envious cascading red hair, green eyes, lean yet sexy body, and flawless skin. She was a walking living canvas of perfection.
She frowned, her lips curling in disdain as she took a quick appraisal of Maya from head to toe without even hiding her displeasure.
She was older than her, Maya thought with 2 or 3 years tops, perfect and certainly not a virgin. Someone Xavier would consider worthy to have sex with. She cringed angry that she was comparing herself with every woman she sees around Xavier subconsciously.
Xavier is my boss and this woman here could be anybody. Might even have a boyfriend, or maybe she was his infamous little sister she thought.
"Do you have an appointment with Mr . Salvador?" Maya asked even though what she was wearing was anything but formal, a slutty flare skirt that stopped mid-thigh and a top that could pass off as a bikini tank top that kept those perky breasts of hers on display.
Perfection.
She and Xavier will just be perfect together she thought.
Miss flawless frowned at Maya.
"You are new here so I will pardon this misbehavior of yours. I don't need an appointment." She snapped.
Maya looked at her taken aback by the confidence in her tone as her little guess of her being his sister germinated and started looking even more true.
But that possibility didn't make her scared even though she sounded nothing like the meek voice she have heard over the phone since her boss was an asshole and made her talk to his family members.
Besides, if swearing on her first day at work, telling her boss to his face that he was bitter and leaving the office before closing hours didn't cut it, she doubted that the woman in front of her no matter how gorgeous she was and the fact she might be related to her boss can.
She had a creeping suspicion that Xavier was keeping her to intentionally piss her off and besides she was damn efficient at her job if she do say so herself she thought.
Maya smiled at her even though she felt like giving the uncultured woman in front of her a piece of her mind, even though she felt like punching that perfect face of hers and wiping that stuck up, everyone is under my feet bitchy smirk she had on her face.
Being polite sucks Maya thought as she mentally hit her head against her desk repeatedly as she smiled again at her.
"I am afraid to tell you that you can't see Mr . Salvador and if you have an appointment then you will have to tell me so I can reschedule....."
"Skylar."
Maya turned and Xavier was looking at the two women with an amused smile on his face. He has been watching the exchange between them and he knew that even though Maya seem to be calm, he could see through her facade and knew she was seconds away from giving the woman in front of her, a piece of her mind completely forsaking all kinds of work ethics and they were not PG 13 words.
The frown on Skylar's face quickly disappeared and was replaced with a flirty smile and with her frown went the absurd idea that Maya had harbored
Siblings don't look at themselves like that Maya thought as she was already getting him undressed with just her eyes.
Her boss' superpowers were transforming spoilt brats into mushy lovers Maya thought wryly almost scoffing.
Xavier's tux was gone and he was just wearing the shirt that fit him like a second skin outlining his body so perfectly.
"Hello, sexy." She whispered and then walked towards him adding a sexy sway to her movement, she pecked him and then turned towards Maya flashing her a triumphant smile.
Maya looked at her confused, then remembering Tyler's word she couldn't help but wonder if this was the daughter of another influential man he was playing because she did look the part.
She knew Xavier was anything but not a saint and was having his action regularly but he never brought any girl to his office, and she had felt thankful for that until now.
Because seeing him with another woman felt awkward maybe because he was almost about to enter her and she knew how he looked underneath his clothes and thought that was normal for others, it meant something to her prudish personality.
Seems like he stopped having women in his office since she came because the Skylar of a girl sounded like a confident regular visitor.
She didn't know why he stopped before, and why he started now she thought frustrated, angry that her boss was a jigsaw piece that was damn hard to figure.
"Sir I was just telling her that you were..."
"She is the one I will be busy with or rather on." He simply replied with a straight face interrupting her.
"Oh." She whispered, her mouth forming a perfect O shape as she immediately grasped what he was hinting at, and if she was too dumb to get the picture, the way Skylar was rubbing her ass against his crotch repeatedly was enough to make her understand.
He smirked at her reaction as she dragged him to his office.
