Chapter 130: Chapter 130
Xavier clenched his hand inside his sweatshirt pocket as he glared at his phone wondering if the man who had sent him this text had plans to show up. The guts, he thought to himself reading the text once again:
(Unknown number): Hey I'm the guy that might end up landing your girl if you don't get your head out of your ass. I'm not the enemy but you have one. Let's meet. Text me the address of where is suitable to you but mind you it must be in a public space. I hope your feelings are not hurt but it is quite understandable why I can't trust you.
Immediately his phone had lit up and he had read the message, he didn't need a soothsayer to tell him who was behind the text also known as the motherboard of his problems.
He had wanted to just block the number or delete the messages angrily but he had decided to talk it out with him rather because although he had been a diesel to make whatever he had with Maya burn faster, he was not the architect contrary to what he would like to believe. He was.
He was Tyler's best friend and what he have to say might just make sense since the enemy he had talked about was close to him. For his sake, especially if he wished to leave the cafe that he had sent the address of to him some hours ago, with his face intact, Xavier hoped that he wasn't joking around with him. Public space or not he was going to fuck him over. He should know better to kid around with a man who had just gone on national TV to tell the world he was letting go of a good woman and who had just accepted he was mad about the said woman. But in his defense, he didn't know this information.
Xavier gritted his teeth as more minutes passed, and the minute he had seen the bastard jogging towards him. He had quickly stood up desperate to give him a preview of what he was to expect if he didn't stay the fuck away from his girl.
He had decided on his way here. That she was his woman. He won't be giving up on the first woman he had ever felt love for in his heart that wasn't related to him by blood just because he had been too slow to realize it. He knew she won't just gather him in her hands and he would have to do a lot of changing, a lot of learning, a lot of unlearning. It'd be bumpy and he was aware he just might spend the rest of his life trying to be worthy of her but he was ready to go through all of that if he would have Maya next to him.
God, he was so in love with this woman, he thought falling back on his seat as he wondered why he hasn't realized something so evident, so large, so obvious.
Xavier eyed Jared no longer having the zeal to hit him although if he just kept on panting and not start doing some talking, he might get beaten.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."
"You should be," Xavier interrupted.
"I was worried about Maya,"
He sat up on his seat and Jared found himself almost grinning at how quickly the grumpy baddie had gone from frightening to being frightened himself.
"She had let her phone in my car so I had smelled a rat and was searching for your girlfriend, hope that is a good enough reason to keep you waiting?"
"And why the fuck are you here?" He stood up, "let's go look for her."
Jared narrowed his eyes, "She is fine. I wouldn't be here if she isn't. I saw a picture of her soaked at home safe. Seems like a fan is living under her roof," he sounded Amused remembering how he had been shocked to see the picture and how his heartbeat that had been drumming fast had mysteriously calmed down.
Xavier relaxed on his seat knowing that, that must be Ashley's handiwork hence she was safe.
"So why had you call me out here?"
"Technically you were the one who had called me out here. You'd picked out the place and sent me an address remember?" He joked but noting Xavier's glare he could tell although here was the place, now wasn't the time to act out one of his fantasies he had, allowed himself habour in high school. He had thought that as Tyler and Xavier turned out to be brothers, they would bond and by extension, the most popular boy in school would bond with him too and they could joke around in the school Cafe. But he had been so out of the original activities that had followed, in his speculation. Way off.
He straightened in his seat reminding himself he was not talking to Xavier Salvador the way too cool to talk with a shy teenager like himself back in high school, but he was here to talk to a man who was in love with a woman he cared about too.
"What were you thinking when you had gone out of the way to hurt Maya with those pictures of you especially knowing that you would be hurting yourself in the process?"
Jared watched Xavier's eyes harden, vein bulge then he swallowed.
"I thought we have already established a point that I've been a fool for a while now and honestly I'm sorry and just want to make things right If she would have me."
Jared tried to nod casually even though he hadn't expected such an honest reply from Xavier as he wholeheartedly agreed to how badly he had acted.
Xavier could still remember what had led to his stupid decision of carrying out such a stunt that day, while in the shower his sister's question replayed in his head again and again. A question he had firmly told her was completely crazy.
But at that moment he had been frightened. He was finally accepting that he had been a coward too scared to accept his feelings hence he had done what every coward does run and tried to prove to himself more than anyone else, he could live without Maya, that he wasn't in love with her and look how much of a colossal failure that had turned out to be. He was fucked and now was hanging on a thin thread by a pretty dipshit who was enjoying hearing him say that he messed up out loud than necessary but he was too screwed to be worried about his bruised ego. He would do anything to make sure Jared sings, Anything to get Maya back.
