Chapter 46: Chapter 46
It's been weeks since I met Dr. Dizon and he is kind of persistent. He never insists on courting me, but it looks like he is just doing it on his own.
"Let's see your wound if it fully healed outside," he said then carefully opened the buttons of my blouse.
"This is so awkward; do you have to do this?" I asked him, my wound was in the middle of my two breasts.
"If you think that I am taking advantage of you then you should stop thinking like that. I am a professional doctor; I won't do anything that ruins my reputation. Now, look at me," he said.
I slowly lifted my head to meet his eyes. He smiled then kissed my forehead. He always does that; I am used to it.
"Do you trust me like the first time you willingly gave your life into my hands?" he asked seriously.
I bit my lower lip then nodded. "I trust you; I can still feel a little pain, but it is bearable now. Thank you for your continuous care."
He made me lay down on my bed. I don't have brassiere anymore, I removed it already before he came. I thought he will open my blouse fully, but he just parted it a little, just enough to for him to see the wound. My nipples are still covered by my blouse.
"The stitches are dry now, but it is still fresh inside." He put some ointment on it then put on a new bandage.
I was just watching him seriously doing his job, nothing else. I should feel awkwardness, but he made me feel very comfortable even in our position right now. I am lying on the bed while he was sitting beside me. I am almost naked, but he didn't mind at all.
"It is okay now," he said. He looked at me then smiled; I gave him a shy smile.
"Thank you, although I am a nurse, I still can't do it by myself. It is healing so fast because of your help. I know you are pretty busy, I don't how to give back," I said.
"I am willingly doing it. You don't have to give back or something. Just be alright, that will be a big thing for me." He touched my cheek then kissed my forehead.
I stopped breathing and my heartbeat increased. I bit my lower lip when his lips touched the tip of my nose. I held on to his arms that are now on both sides of my body. He stopped going down then stared at my lips.
"Did grandpa kiss you?" he asked.
I nodded. "He likes to steal kisses from me."
"Are you going to be mad at me if I kiss you now?" His hot breath is touching my lips. I shook my head.
That's the only signal from me that he was waiting for. He was giving me a tiny kiss at first, but when I put my hands on his nape, he started to kiss me passionately. I feel like my heart is going to explode every time his lips are moving. We almost lost ourselves in passion when a knock from the door wakes us up. We stopped then he helped me to sit on the bed.
I fixed my clothes while he went to the door to open them. It was my mother holding a tray with some snacks on it.
"Dr. Dizon, thank you for visiting always and taking care of my daughter's wound. Here, some snacks and drinks for you," my mother said then looked at me. She raised her eyebrow; I just shrugged my shoulders. Did she know that we did something?
"Thank you too, Mrs. Arandia. I love helping your daughter." He smiled.
"Are you courting my daughter?" my mother asked.
I glared at her, but she didn't notice it. "Ma!"
Dr. Dizon sighed. "Can I get your blessing once she allows me to?"
My mother can't help but shout in glee. "Of course, I am very delightful." She even clapped her hands.
I just shook my head and sighed. But deep inside, I am smiling. I am going crazy!
After a moment, my mother left us. Now, I am very humiliated by what just my mother did.
"Sorry for my mama. She was just too excited to see me having a relationship. I never had one, except, of course, Henry. Should I count him?" I looked at him.
"Of course, he is your first love. Grandpa taught you how to love and you will forever cherish your moment together. Can I ask you a question?"
I nodded.
"Are you seeing grandpa on me?" he asked without hesitation.
I am very shocked by his question. I shook my head. "No, of course not. I will admit that at first, I see your resemblance to him, but I never see you as one person. You are very similar, but I never see you as the same person. You are very different from each other in my eyes and heart."
He sighed. "Do I have any chance on you? I don't think that you will let me in when my grandpa is your first and true love."
"Are you going to stop now? Are you giving up on me?" I don't know why my heart is aching.
"Do you want me to stop?"
I shook my head. "No, please."
He smiled. "I will not then." He handed me an old box.
I opened it then I was surprised by what's in it. There are old photos and the envelope that's containing Henry's letter. I just remembered that I didn't finish it yet. I also remember the photos that Dr. Dizon showed me before, the photo of Sonia and me. We didn't take photos back then. So that photo doesn't exist now.
"This was grandpa's sketch of you." He laughed while giving me the piece of paper.
I made a sour smile. "This not looked like me." I chuckled.
"Yes, so, I had a hard time finding you," he said. "He didn't want anyone to sketch you. So, he made it by himself."
Still, I am very touched by this.
Next, he handed me the envelope. I sighed then decided to finish reading it...
My Dearest Aliyah,
When you can finally read this, I know we can never greet each other again. This is the only way that I can still say to you the words I can never utter in front of you.
I want to thank whoever let me meet you. It is very impossible that you, a girl from the far future, and me, from your past, can be in love with each other. It was never easy for me to accept that reality. But I must be thankful, right? That once in my life, I met and fell in love with an extraordinary girl that changed my life. I am very happy for that short time that you are in my arms. That I kissed you goodnight and cried with you in the toughest time. Thank you, Aliyah. Thank you for guiding me in a better life, thank you for the happiness you gave to me.
Until my last day, I will still be wishing for your happiness. Don't stay sad, I know it is hard. But I know you can make it through. Please, don't forget me, my love. Please, always remember me, Aliyah. I love you so much.
Love,
Lieutenant Henry Dizon.
"You didn't cry. Not a single tear at all," Dr. Dizon said when I finally finished the letter.
"I am alright now, Henry. Thank you." I hugged him. He was shocked at first, but he hugged me back immediately.
I am okay now, I will never forget you, Henry. I will always remember you. Until the next time we meet...
