Chapter 45: Chapter 45
"This is your last day in the hospital, so I decided to visit you," she said then smiled at me.
"Last day? It means I am going home?" My body became alive.
"Yes, don't change the topic, Aliyah! Your parents said, even your grandmother, that Dr. Dizon is so fond of you. Tell me, what's with you?" Her eyes narrowed.
I shook my head. "Nothing, we are just sharing common interests and then we became friends. What's so wrong about that?"
She pouted to prevent herself from smiling widely. "Nothing, I just thought you are already getting yourself a boyfriend. I was about to congratulate you."
I rolled my eyes. "Why you are all pushing me to have a boyfriend?"
"You are getting older, Aliyah! Wake up! You are not forever young, you can't be single forever," she exclaimed.
Does Henry count? I had a relationship with him although it didn't last.
"Don't pressure, I will be in that state." I smiled at her. "By the way, thank you for visiting me, Gail."
It is true that I am going home this day, my parents just need to fix some papers for my release. I miss grandma already.
"I will visit you tomorrow, it is my day off. I am hopeful that I will not get any patient so that I can be with you the whole day. I want you to tell me more stories about my grandpa," Dr. Dizon said while I and Gail are packing my things.
"Sure, I would love that. Thank you for saving me." I smiled at him. We stared at each other's eyes for some moment.
We are both interrupted by Gail's fake cough. I glared at her, she has that teasing look and smile on her face.
"I am done, we are ready to go!" she said.
I nodded. Dr. Dizon never had a chance to send me off the hospital because there is a sudden emergency. I am very surprised to see that our town is more different than before. It is more beautiful and organized than last time. This is not the town I grew up with.
"You looked surprised to our town, Aliyah. Is it true that you lost some of your memories?" Gail asked.
"Yes, I forget almost all of my old memories," I lied because I am not really sure what happened. I did change a lot of things.
"Is that so? Don't worry I will make you remember all of your forgotten memories. Your mom said that you are coming back to work just yet."
I still don't have plans too. I still need to know what really happened. I still have many questions, although some of them are already answered, it is still blurry in my mind. I really can't connect the pieces of puzzles they are giving to me.
"Did you let grandpa know that I will be your grandchild in the future?" I asked my grandma. Before I went to the past, I know grandpa knew something.
She shook her head. "He doesn't need to know, he knows nothing. If I tell him about you, he will tell it to Henry. And you know, that's not a good idea. All your efforts and all of my promises will be wasted."
That's a kind of relief. "Did Henry was there when I was born? If he knew that you named your grandchild Aliyah, he would be suspicious."
"I forced your mother and father to give birth with you in the city, not here. I think of many ways on how I can hide you from Henry because that's not easy since he is a very good friend to us," my grandma answered.
"I love you, grandma. Thank you for keeping your promise. From now on, I will be the one who will take care of you. Please, live longer." I kissed her wrinkled forehead.
I tucked her in bed that night. I went to my room; this is the same mansion of grandma Cristel's parents. Well preserved and still look amazing. I want to visit their graves soon.
"Do you need help cleaning your wounds?" my mother asked me after she fixed my bed and prepared my clothes.
"I'm fine, I can manage. Thank you, Mama." I gave her a good night kiss.
"Call me when you need something," she said. I nodded.
I took a bath, even the things I was comfortable using back then, felt so uncomfortable. I sighed; it makes me miss him more.
After I cleaned my wounds that are still bleeding but not too much, I prepared myself to sleep. Before I can turn off the lights, I heard a gentle knock on my door. I opened it. It was my father.
"Someone wants to see you." He looked so displeased.
"Is it Gail, Papa?" I asked him.
"It is Dr. Dizon, cover yourself before going out with him. Be back before midnight." He gave a resigned sigh before leaving me.
I got my jacket and went to the living room. There he is, handsomely smiling at me. He's with his usual outfit less the white coat.
"Good evening, I have something for you," he said then gave me a bouquet.
"Thank you, I didn't know that you will pay a visit." I smiled shyly.
"It looks like fate giving us so much time," he said then lend me his hand.
Yeah, it looks like fate is now giving me the time I wished when I was with Henry.
I accepted his hand. My heart is pounding so fast. I don't where he will take me but somehow, I feel safe. He was just smiling while driving the car.
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
He glanced at me for a second. "To where it all started."
I creased my forehead. I am not sure, but I have a clue on my mind. Does that place still exist now?
When we arrived at the place, my instinct didn't fail. Dr. Dixon brought at our place, to where it all started. Where Henry and I had our very first secret date. It looks so modern by now; it is not hidden anymore. There's a lamp post near the bench and grave?
"This is where grandpa chose to stay forever. He said he will be waiting for the time you can visit him," Dr. Dizon said.
I refused to cry, I should be happy, right? I found him already.
I went to the grave and touched his engraved name on the marble plate.
"I am here now, I finally found you." My tears fell. "Thank you for keeping your promises. Thank you for remembering me always. I love you," I said, letting go of all the pain and loneliness. Little by little, I know I will be free from the past. Henry wants me to do that, that's the reason why he sent me him...
I looked at Dr. Dizon who is now offering me a handkerchief. I gladly accepted his offer.
"How can you easily believe in me? You know being with your grandpa is so impossible." I stare at him.
He smiled a bit. "When grandpa keeps on telling me stories about this girl, I already believe. I shouldn't be, right? They said that grandpa is just going crazy because of his age but I didn't believe them. I am very glad that I didn't because now I found the proof. I found you..."
I bit my lower lip. "I am not ready yet to open my heart. Can we just be friends for now? I don't want to rush things."
He nodded. "Of course, though, I already ended my relationship with my girlfriend."
My eyes went wide. "Why did you do that? You shouldn't leave her."
He touched my face then faced the grave of his grandpa. "You right grandpa, it is very easy to fell in love with your Aliyah. And you are right too when you said she's not an easy girl. I should work hard on her, right?" He smiled.
He looked at me with determined eyes. "I will wait for you. Until you are ready, we don't have to rush because we own this lifetime."
I nodded. This time, we don't have to hide, I don't need to push him away. We have our own time. I don't have to worry because I will stay this time. I should erase fear in my heart because I know he's mine.
Dear Henry, thank you for ensuring my happiness. You never leave me hanging. You are with me until I came back. I promise to remember you forever.
