Chapter 13: Chapter 13
I cursed Henry on my mind. Why the hell he kissed me?! In front of Sonia?! Really?!
He is just smirking, and I just want to punch his face, actually, I can do it if Sonia is not watching just like now. I smiled awkwardly at her. Her face looked shocked because of what she saw earlier.
"It is not what you think, Sonia." I approached her. I thought she is out of town.
She knotted her forehead, she looks confused. "Why do you know my name?" she asked me.
"Henry told me, you are friends, right?" I answered her. She looked at Henry.
"Hi, Sonia," Henry greeted her.
I saw how Sonia blushed and my hope suddenly rejoices. I smiled and pulled Sonia near Henry.
"What are you doing, Miss?" Sonia pushed me.
I didn't mind it at all. This is the start; I need to move fast.
"Sonia, Henry has something to say to you," I said then looked at Henry.
I raised my eyebrow. He sighed. "Sonia, I think I have to ask you for the second time. I know you just feel pressured that time, but this time, I want to ask you again."
Sonia began to breathe heavily and so do I. Henry looked at me with his sad eyes before drifting his attention to Sonia.
"I like you, Sonia. Can I court you? Please, don't say no," Henry said then looked at me.
I looked away then bit my lower lip. I don't really know what is happening in my heart, I can't breathe properly.
"B-But I saw you, you kissed that girl. Are you playing with me, Henry?" Sonia said then with looked at me, sharply.
"Y-You got it wrong, it was an accident. Believe in Henry, Sonia. He loves and he hasn't moved on to you." I smiled.
I saw how Henry shook his head; Sonia didn't notice that is because she was facing me.
"Who are you? It is the first I saw you here in our town," she asked me.
"I am Aliyah, I'm a tourist and an acquaintance of Henry."
She nodded then faced Henry, I saw how she smiled at him. Maybe, Sonia has already feelings towards Henry. She can't just admit it in front of many people, or she was afraid that their feelings might destroy their friendship.
"I'm sorry for the embarrassment, I'm sorry if I humiliate you in the public, I am just afraid. But now... Yes, y-you can court me, Henry." She smiled widely.
I should feel happy, right? Why I can't smile, naturally? My heart is aching. This is not right...
"Really? I thought you are going to reject me again." Henry looked at me.
I smiled. "I am happy for you. At last, Henry's dream finally came true," I said.
Henry licked his lips. "Thank you. Can you leave us now, Aliyah? I want some alone time with Sonia," he said while looking at me, blankly.
I swallowed hard. "S-Sure, no problem. I got to go." I turned my back and without noticing, my eyes teared up.
Why am I crying? I ran away from them. Can I go home now? Can I go back to my time?
Sonia and Henry are finally together, why am I still in this place? I want to go home now!
I am halfway through Dela Fuentes' house when someone grabbed my wrist then pulled me somewhere. My jaw dropped.
"Henry! What are you doing?" I tried to pull my wrist to his grasp.
He didn't answer me but instead, he continued to run, still holding my wrist, tightly. We kept on running until we reached the forest-like place. There are trees, everywhere and silence are reigning the whole place.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him. He wasn't looking at me at all, he keeps on sighing while his eyes are closed.
"Henry!" My shout echoed in the whole place.
"You forced me to lie in front of my friend. Are you happy now? Sonia believed in what I said. You fooled her too by saying that my dream came true when she let me court her." He looked at me with serious eyes.
I looked down. "That was your dream a long time ago. I just stated a fact. What's your problem with that?"
He laughed. "What is the problem?" He went near me. "That dream was already expired. The embarrassment on what she did was the only one left in me and not my feelings to her."
I stepped back. "You said what you said. Don't break her, it is all for you."
He smirked. "Really? For me? I don't think so. You are just pushing me on something that I don't want. Why am I even obeying you?" He was so frustrated.
"Obey me and you will thank me later. If you just in my shoes, you will understand me. I want to go home; I don't want to be in here anymore. I missed my family, please let me go home." My sounds pleading already.
He stopped and held my hand. "I-I'm sorry. You can go home now." He turned his back at me.
What? He misunderstood.
"Wait, Henry! You don't understand." I chased him.
He looked so confused when our eyes met. "Yes, I don't understand everything you said. If you want to go home then go, no one stopping you."
"I can't," I said.
He became more confused. "You can't? Why? You don't have any money?" He checked his pocket then gave me some paper money that was already phase-out on my time.
"No, it is not like that. I can only go home if you and Sonia fell in love and married each other. Please, like her just like what you did before. You already loved her, and you will love her again. I am doing this for the best," I said.
Henry combed his hair in frustration. "I don't want Sonia anymore. My eyes were immediately caught by a woman who accidentally bumped her head on the market's ground," he said.
My heart beats so fast that I need to breathe heavily to sustain the air inside my body.
"Do you know who am I talking about? Do you know who is that girl, Aliyah?" he asked.
I shook my head. "I don't know, and I don't care. Just do what I said. If you manage to love Sonia and bring her to the altar, then I can go home."
"Why would I need to marry Sonia for you to go home? What's your point here?"
I sighed. Can I tell him? Can I tell him that I am from the future and I have a mission to do that I need to fulfill so that I can go back to my time already? I am very sure he will think that I am crazy. I can't tell him that!
"I will remind you once again, Lieutenant Henry Dizon. You can't fall in love with me or with any girl. You can only be with Sonia. If I failed to make you stay with her, I will be forever stuck in here. If you want to help, if you really concern for me, you will do what I want," I said while looking into his eyes.
"But..."
I cut him off. "And I can only offer a friendship with you. Nothing else."
