Chapter 30: Chapter 30

THEO

"..... He's going to be fine..... coronation........days.....he wakes up......"I tried to move my hands but realized that I couldn't feel them. I felt like I was floating.Hovering above the clouds, quietly. I could hear bits of Luke's statement and could only assume that it was just Luke and Devon who were in the room with me.

"..... be fine...."A hand held mine and soft lips were pressed to my knuckles. It was Devon, I realized. Through the mindlink, her emotions entwined themselves around my subconsciousness like a cocoon. She was afraid.

Yet, anxious and worried. What had happened? Why was I unconscious? Why was Devon anxious and uncertain? "Open your eyes, damnit" Devon said and I desperately wanted to smile but I still couldn't move. "If you don't open your eyes right now... I'll.... I'll..."

That did it for me. I felt like my body had just been electrocuted back to life. That is, if that makes any sense. I lifted my eyelids and stared at Devon through half-opened eyes. "What're you going to do?" I croaked and her cheeks caught fire."You're awake!" She exclaimed, pressing a kiss to my hairline. "How're you feeling?" She asked. I was still as weak as a kitten but my goodness, my head was killing me. "Like shit" I rasped and she grinned."Well that figures. You actually do look like shit" she said, brushing my hair away from my face. I painfully rolled my eyes and tried to sit up. Turns out that I was weaker than I thought. "Hey! Easy, your majesty. Don't push yourself too hard" Luke said from across the room with an amused smile on his face. "Don't call me that" I croaked. He chuckled. "Well, that's what you are now, Dae" "How long have I been unconscious?" I asked."Two days"

For the first time since I'd awakened, I finally noticed that the room I was in, looked very unfamiliar. It was three sizes bigger than my actual bedroom and ten times classier than it. The walls were painted a vibrant purple and gold. The bed was definitely king sized and everything in the room, screamed royalty. The air smelt of roses and spices. A thought suddenly struck me. I was most definitely not in the human world, meaning....

"Wait, where the hell am I?" I rapsed.

"Isn't it obvious, your majesty? You're in your chamber. The king's chamber" Luke said, winking at me. I gaped at him."Wait, what?" He raised a brow while Devon started to frown. "Dae, what is the last thing you remember?" She asked.I frowned, rubbing my temples. "I remember going to the night court to find the mirror of mirrors... Amyra...Ric..... the battle...."

My eyes widened when I finally recalled what had happened exactly. "We won?" I asked."Of course, we did. Thanks to you, Dae" Devon said, grinning. "I'll leave you two alone. But, Dae.... you should get some rest" Luke said and left. "Thirsty?" Devon asked as she grabbed a golden jug. "Yeah" I said, grimacing at how parched my throat felt. She poured me a cup of water and helped me sit up. I took the cup of water from her with shaky hands. Mind you, it was pretty annoying. I'm really not a fan of weakness and helplessness. Devon had to prop me up with the pillows and help me drink water from the cup before I could spill it's content. "You were pretty badass, you know" She said and I sighed."You went ahead to risk your soul to save mine" She shrugged."I couldn't bear the thought of loosing you to the void"

"I know. It's just-" I sighed."Don't ever put your life at risk just to save mine ever again" I said and she scrunched up her nose."I can't promise you that 'cuz I know you'll do the same for me"I smiled and kissed her knuckles. "The elders have agreed to crown you as soon as you recover" she said and I bit my lower lip, pensively."I really don't know what to say. This is something I was born for. But right now, I feel really nervous. What if I'm not good enough. What if-"

Devon's finger pressed against my lips, silenced me."Nope, no what ifs now. It's okay to have cold feet, Dae. But I want you to know one thing. You are perfect for the throne. You're compassionate, you're strong and brave. There's no better man for the job" she said, smiling at me.

"My goodness, you're amazing" I breathed."So are you. Now, I want you to relax" she said and began to knead my shoulder and neck muscles soothingly. I closed my eyes and fell asleep almost immediately. *******

When I awoke hours later, I felt better by only a small margin. And, I desperately needed to use the bathroom which was frustrating especially since my legs felt like jelly. Cursing under my breath, I struggled to push myself to a sitting position. It took extra effort to get myself to sit at the edge of the bed with my feet planted on the ground. Inhaling slowly, I rose to my feet. White hot pain shot up my spine and I doubled over with a groan escaping my lips. Shit, have I aged so much already? If not, why on Earth was I feeling like an old man. I tried to straighten up but my spine wouldn't stop hurting. Infact, the pain escalated to the extent that I had to sit on the floor. At this point, I knew the only option I had left was crawling. And I'll be damned if I let anyone find me crawling to the bathroom like a pathetic old man. Gritting my teeth, I stubbornly tried to push myself to my feet again but failed miserably. The pain in my back had gone from bad to worse and I curled up on the floor, a whimpering mess. How wonderful. The door creaked open but I didn't bother to raise my head to see who they were."Daeron?" Luke said and I groaned to myself. "Dae? What's wrong?" Devon said, her hand resting on the top of my spine."He's in pain" Luke said and I clenched my fist."Tell me, where does it hurt the most?" "I dunno. My spine, my back. Hurts. Need to use the bathroom" I ground out through gritted teeth. "Come on, let me help you" Devon said, placing an arm around my waist with my arm around her shoulder. Luke helped me to my feet while Devon helped me into the bathroom. When I was done with doing my business, I finally got to see my reflection in the mirror.I literally looked like death. No scratch that.I looked dead on my feet. But, that was not what caught my attention. My eyes. They were completely different. My left eye had swirls of gold and black. My right eye was red with a gold ring around it. My face was pale and the bruising beneath my eyes were worse than ever. I swayed on my feet and Devon steadied me. I'd totally forgotten that she was there."My eyes-" I breathed, horror paralysing me."Are beautiful" Devon said, a small smile on my lips.I stared at her."You don't understand, Dev. This is bad. My eyes are not supposed to-"

"Your tattoo is gone" she said."W-what?""Your Chimaera tattoo is gone"I extra paled, realizing how loud both my head and mind had become. The dragon, the demon and the faerie part of me were all fighting for control. Devon grabbed my hand and led me out of the bedroom. I wordlessly allowed her to make me lie on my stomach on the bed. I couldn't help but think that the worst had happened. I could hurt anybody even with the slightest of emotions fueling me. I felt like a walking time bomb and it scared me to no end. "Breathe, Dae" Devon said as she began to massage my back with a sweet smelling ointment. "Oh, I see what's happening here. You look like you want to shift into your dragon form. You're too tense. Your spine looks distorted. Now relax. Breathe with me" said Devon as her fingers gently massaged the tender skin around my spine. "Breathe" she whispered and I forced myself to take long, deep breaths until the pain started to lessen."Why didn't you tell me that my eyes were different" I said and she chuckled."Not important. I just want you to recover. Using your full powers took a lot out of you"

"How are you not terrified right now?" I asked."Why should I be?"

"I'm a monster now"

"No, you're not"I could hear the smile in her voice."I can't control this.... I won't be able to"

"My love, you just need to have a little faith. You'll be able to control it just fine. I think you've been too terrified of yourself to actually understand your nature. I think all you have to do is embrace your reality. Embrace who you really are. You'll be able to control it better that way, you'll see. Things might get rough at first but I promise that I'll be with you every step of the way. We can figure this out together" I closed my eyes, a smile playing on the lips."I could kiss you right now" I said and she pressed her lips to mine. "There" I opened my eyes and gazed into her stunning blue eyes. I don't know what I'll do without her. I exhaled slowly as she continued to work wonders with her fingers. "Are you okay?" I asked."I'm okay" she said, moving my hair to the left."Don't give me that shit. You're not okay" I said and she sighed. "I can't hide anything from you now, can I?"

"We are bonded, Mo chroí. You are not supposed to hide anything from me" "I'm just a little worried" she admitted. "This is about Amyra, isn't it?" I said slowly. When she didn't say anything, I realized that she wasn't a little worried. She was really worried."She cursed me, Dae. How can I not be worried?" I slowly turned over and propped myself up with my elbow. I tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear."You don't have to disturb yourself, Dev. We can find a way to break the curse"Her blue eyes widened."What if it doesn't work-"

"Nope. No what ifs now. We will find a way. We always do" I said, stroking her cheek with my fingers. She leaned into my touch, her eyelashes lowering. "We'll be okay" she breathed and I nodded.

She smiled and leaned closer to kiss me. "Lay with me" I said and she didn't hesitate to lay down beside me. I drew her into my arms and kissed her temple. Amyra was gone and it was time to be stronger than ever. We had burned our demons to the ground and it had taken a lot out of us.

*********

DEVON

Happiness overflowed in my heart as I stared at my reflection in the full length sized mirror. I looked stunning in my white and gold dress. My brown hair was braided in three intricate bold braids that made my eyes pop. The make over was so perfect, I almost couldn't recognize myself. Two days had passed since Daeron recovered fully and today, the coronation was going to take place. It felt so much like a dream--a fairytale. Who would've thought that I would be mated to the king of the four lands. I'm going to be queen! "You look beautiful, my lady" Lylla, one of the maids said with a lovely smile on her face. "She's right, you know. You look gorgeous" Cynda said and I grinned."Today's a big day for you. You'll be fully bonded to your soulmate and you'll be ascending the throne as the queen of the four lands" she said and my heart did a little somersaults in my chest. I was nervous. Really nervous."Relax, girl. Just relax" **†***†**

An hour later, Dae and I were in the balcony of the huge throne room. In the balcony, there was a statue of a roaring lion. Below us, the people of the four lands stood, watching the coronation. The whole place was parked with different fairies. The whole place was decorated beautifully in gold, purple, green, white, blue and so on. Daeron and I were both kneeling in front of the seven elders. The flame guardians as they were called were the kingmakers. They all had white blonde hair and multicolored eyes. They were all dressed in red robes and colorful apparels. Daeron looked gorgeous with his hair in a single braid down his back. He was wearing a gold and white tunic, matching pants and gold boots. His cape was a bright red and gold color. He looked gorgeous and captivating. A loud gong resounded throughout the whole place.

Then, the elders began to speak at the same time."People of the four lands. We are gathered together to crown the rightful heir to the throne; the flamekeeper of the four lands"

The fairies cheered and I found myself smiling. "Finally, after what feels like years of struggling, we have finally found peace. Daeron Zrēlyen of the Ky'ash clan, we crown you protector, leader, guardian of the four lands and flame keeper of the fairies!" One of the elders placed a golden crown on Daeron's head, it's blue and purple stones, glowing in the light. The fairies' cheers were almost deafening. "We crown you, Yahini Zrēlyen, queen and mother of the four lands!"A tingle ran from the crown of my head to my toes just as I was crowned with a silver crown. Holy Macaroni, it's happening. I'm the queen.Dae and I rose to our feet and I watched as he was given the golden Sceptre. Right in front of everyone, he touched the head of the Sceptre to the mouth of the roaring lion statue. It lit up immediately with golden flames. Every other lion statue in the throne room lit up simultaneously. "Long live the king!" Luke cried and the fairies began to chant."Long live the king!Long live the king!Long live the king!" I smiled as Theo held my hand and pulled me to himself. He cupped my face and kissed me. Mine.He was mine and I was his. There was no need to think about battles anymore. There was no need to think about Amyra because she's gone and will never hurt anyone anymore. There was no need to think about the curse she'd placed on my unborn son. There was no need to worry about the fact that Daeron's full powers has been unleashed. And, perhaps everything was going to be okay after all.
