Chapter 22: Chapter 22
THEO
"I'm so happy to see you, Theo. I'm so glad you're back to your old self" Rachel said, squeezing my hand gently."Me too" I said, returning the endearing gesture."Is Luke back?" She asked."Of course he is. A lot of things has happened""Bad things? Did something happen to him?"I sighed, running a hand through my hair."He'll be fine"Rachel exhaled slowly and closed her eyes briefly.I filled her in on the recent happenings. She was terrified. While we were having a conversation, Natasha walked up to the both of us and handed me the sandwiches."Tasha?" Rachel said"Yes, Rachel?"
"This is Theo, my adopted son" she said and Natasha smiled."Nice to meet you" she said and I returned her smile."You too"
"He wants to talk to you, Tasha" Natasha tensed up."But-"
"Jean and Mia will take care of the customers. Please sit" Rachel said, gesturing to the empty seat beside me."Alright" she sighed.
"You know what I am, don't you?" I said and she stiffened."I don't know what you're talking about" she muttered."You obviously know what I'm talking about" I said. She nervously fiddled with her fingers and still wouldn't make eye contact with me."I suggest you cooperate with him, Tasha. He's very patient but I'm pretty sure you don't want to upset him" Rachel said, earning herself a glare from Natasha."She's right, you know?" I said. Natasha slowly met my challenging gaze. When I didn't look away, she lowered her gaze."What do you want to know?" She asked through gritted teeth."Let's start from your true nature. What are you exactly?" I said. She let out a bitter chuckle."Why do you ask me that, your majesty? I thought you know everything" she snapped."I'm not sure you understand how this works. I ask you a question, you give me an answer. It's as simple as that" I said, my patience starting to run thin."It's not simple. I'm not telling you anything"Rachel sighed."Natasha, stop being stubborn-""Don't tell me anything about stubborn. Infact I shouldn't be here. I don't have to answer to the both of you. Heck, I don't have to answer to anybody!" She said, rising to her feet."Now, now, we don't want to make a scene, do we? I'll appreciate it if you stopped throwing tantrums" I hissed."I. Am. Not. Throwing. Tantrums!" She growled, clenching her fist until her knuckles turned white."I was trying to be nice and all but you're pretty much not helping" I said, rising to me feet."What are you going to do? Kill me?!" I smirked."Not yet. I could just let you go and find out whatever I want to know from someone else. Still, why waste an opportunity to know more? That's why you're coming with me" I said and she gasped. I'd caught her off guard. I grabbed her hand and practically forced her to the exit. I handed Rachel twenty dollars."Theo-"
"That's for the sandwiches" I said. She chuckled."You don't have to" she said."I want to. You'll visit soon, won't you?" I asked and she nodded."I will" Natasha on the other hand was still throwing tantrums. "Let me go, you-" "No can do"
"I won't tell you anything!"
"Don't worry about that, sweetheart""Don't call me that!"I rolled my eyes and dragged her to the car.She smirked."Do you honestly think you can keep me in a car? Don't you think I can just vanish into thin air?" She spat.
I rolled my eyes and placed an iron chain around her and the seat. She wouldn't be able to escape anyway, especially with the mistletoe in the car."Of course I know that. That's why I'm not taking any chances" I said. She tried to move but realized that she couldn't."W-what? What did you do?" She gasped."Just a minor precaution, sweetheart" I said, giving her a wicked smirk. Her face turned red and if she was animated, she would probably be smoking from the nose and ears.It was such a hilarious sight. Just before I got to my house, I took out a blindfold and covered her eyes. She scowled."Wow, Kinky. First you use a chain on me. Then, you blindfold me. If you needed to bang me 'Fifty shades of grey' style, you should have just asked" I rolled my eyes and parked the car. "Where are we?" She asked when we got out of the car.
"None of your business, sweetheart" I responded and she clenched her jaw.I steered her towards the door and opened it. Luke was sitting on the couch with Devon and Lucy when I walked in."She refused to talk didn't she?" Luke said, an amused look on his pale face. "Where the hell are we?!" Natasha asked again."Again, it's none of your business" I said forcing her to sit on a chair. I kept the chain around her and took off the blindfold."Who the hell are you?!" She growled at Devon who chuckled."She's a stubborn one, isn't she?" Devon commented, watching her intently."Of course, she is. She's so loyal to her queen" Lucy said. "What is she?" Devon asked. Luke moved closer to Natasha who had a bitter scowl on her face. He peered into her eyes, the smile on his face growing."Oh, I know what she is alright? She's a spirit walker" he said and her scowl deepened. It made sense why Amyra would want her. Spirit walkers are rare creatures that have the ability to do several things. They have the power to create illusion and most spirit walkers have the gift of necromancy-- an ability to communicate with the dead. Natasha would be the one to lure humans into the fae kingdom where they would be slaughtered."So tell us, spirit walker. What is Amyra up to?" I said."I'm not telling you anything!""Oh but you will" I said and gazed into her eyes with my eyes growing brighter. She struggled to look away but I had a firm grip on her mind. Soon, she had a dazed look in her eyes."The silver queen has a secret" she slurred."What secret?" I asked."Her weakness"Luke exhaled sharply."Fire?""Not just fire. Golden flames. She has an advantage though. The night of the blood moon is coming. She'll be more powerful than ever and you won't be able to use your powers, none of you will. The blood moon favors her. After the bonding, she'll become so strong and no one will stop her. But, she's afraid" I frowned."Afraid of what?" I dared to ask. I saw no reason why Amyra would be scared especially since she has an advantage now."The twin moons" she muttered, her head slumping forward. Her nose was bleeding at this point. "What's the twin moons?" I asked. She looked at me with a smile on her face."She knows. She knows you have me here. She'll kill me" she whispered and just like that, her eyes rolled into the back of her head. Lucy moved closer and pressed two fingers to the side of Tasha's neck. Her eyes were void of emotions when her gaze met mine. "There's no pulse. She's dead"
**********
Among all the information I'd just gathered, I honestly don't know which one had got me so riled up. Lucy had gotten rid of Natasha's body. I didn't ask her how, my mind was too preoccupied. The twin moons. In my whole living existence, it's the one thing I've never heard about.Amyra is afraid of the twin moons and that's something. I have to figure out what this twin moon is. I have to know why Amyra is afraid of it. There was a knock on the door. "Come in" Luke said and Liam walked in."Did you find out anything?" He asked with a questioning look in his eyes."Of course. We now know that we'll be completely powerless during the blood moon whereas, the beast would be unlocking her full powers"
"What? Why?"
"I honestly have no clue. Natasha is dead too"Liam's eyes widened."Did you kill her?"I narrowed my eyes."I did not kill her" I said."What else did she tell you guys?"
"She mentioned something about the twin moons" Luke said. Liam stiffened."Twin moons?" "Yup" Devon said."I think there's someone who might know about it" he breathed."You're not joking, are you?" I said and he shook his head."Veronica Leech once came to my office with a very old book that had several torn pages. While she discussed with me about the contract, I noticed the book and asked her about it because it looked very old and ratty. She simply shrugged me off and said it was a family cooking recipe book that her grandmother had passed on to her. You see, I wasn't convinced but I let it slide anyway" Liam said, running his fingers through his hair."What was the name of the book?" I asked."The twin moons" ***************************
"So what you're saying is Veronica Leech might know something about the twin moons" I said."Yes. But the problem is, she might as well be the other half of the silver beast" Liam said, leaning back on his seat. "Then we have to question her and get the book" Devon said."I don't think she's going to give in so easily" Luke said."Well, she does fancy Theo, perhaps he can use it as an advantage" Liam said and I rolled my eyes."Not helping" I deadpanned."All the same, we need to find out what the twin moons is all about because time is running out. We have only eight days left" Luke said. "Fine, I'll pay Veronica a visit today" I said, warily."I'll come with you" Devon said and I tilted my head to meet her gaze."Are you sure about this?" I asked."Yes. I trust you but I don't trust Veronica" she said and I smirked."My, my, she's become quite possessive" Luke said, grinning at Devon who blushed.
*******
To my uttermost surprise, Veronica welcomed Devon and I into her home, warmly. It was weird to see her acting so nice-- like she'd been expecting us."Can I get you anything?" She asked, flipping her hair over her shoulder."No thanks. There's no need for that" Devon said."Whatever you say, miss"
"Why are you here?" She asked, fiddling with the silver ring on her index finger."I thought you might know" I said and she smirked."You're right, I know why you're here. The silver beast bla bla bla. Let me tell you, I am a lot of things but I'm not a she-devil" Veronica said."If you're not the other part of the silver beast, what are you?" I asked. She chuckled."Why should I tell you, handsome?" I sighed, running a hand through my hair."Maybe you can be of help to-""I'm not helping anybody. I've got enough on my plate already" she drawled."Fine, don't tell me what you are. We just want to know more about the twin moons" I said and she stiffened, a dark shadow crossing her green eyes."I don't know what you're talking about" she said with a tinge of unease in her voice. "Veronica, you know what I am talking about" I said. She narrowed her eyes."I don't have to tell you anything" she hissed."If the silver beast succeeds, we'll all be dead, including you. You have to help us stop her" Devon said."Now you need my help? Even when you see me as your opponent, Devon" "You are not my opponent, Miss Leech""So much confidence" she drawled. I groaned inwardly. Veronica has always been a difficult person and if she continues to irk Devon, we won't be getting anywhere."Veronica, please. You need to tell us what you know about the twin moons" I said and she bit her lower lip."Fine. What do you know about the twin moons?" She asked. I shrugged."We only know that Amyra is afraid of it" I said. She laughed."Amyra isn't afraid of it, love. She's terrified. It's the only thing that can change everything and ruin her plans" she said, her eyes glinting mischievously."How do you know that?" Devon asked."Why won't I know that? I am the great great granddaughter of Ivagon Baryza, the druid who made the prophecy of the three most dangerous creatures in the universe. I am a druid"
