Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Jonea Fallon

Eve handed me a glass of water. It's juice or something similar. Because the colour resembles a strawberry.

My chest is still pounding, and my emotions are still running high. Eve dragged me into a chair and gave me the drink.

On the other hand, Daran just stood still and didn't show any expression. He also still needs to answer my previous question.

"So, your name is Jonea, huh?" she asked.

"Thanks," I said to Eve for the drink she handed me.

"Wow, you really are a sweet girl." Eve put her hands on her hips and turned to Daran. "You didn't do anything weird to get her, did you?"

"I bought her with my personal money."

"What?!" Eve screamed loudly. "You bought her? Do you think your future wife is something you can trade?"

I took a sip of the juice in my hand. It looks like raspberry juice mixed with other fruit. I don't know what. But it tastes sweet and sour at the same time. When served warm, it feels so soothing. I just glanced at the two of them, who were noisy.

My anger subsided after sipping this juice. I also felt a little relieved because other people defended me and could understand my position. Although I don't know if Eve really did that for me or if it was just plain talk.

I saw Eve actually punch Daran really hard. I opened my eyes wide in shock. Daran didn't even dodge, let alone counter Eve's punch. I'm sure the punch was hard and not just a joke.

What is their real relationship? A Daran Carver, known to be so cruel, sadistic, and feared by all members of his clan, now does not move before an Evangelista.

Who is this girl, really? How will it affect Daran's life?

I shook my head vigorously.

Why should I be curious and want to know about their lives? My purpose in coming here wasn't to learn about Daran Carver's personal life. I have to focus on my own goals. You are stupid!

"Buying her is not the right way! You stupid king! What will your people say if they find out that you bought your future wife?"

I saw Eve snort as she folded her arms over her chest. She turned to me. Her face was originally so hard and angry at Daran; Eve became soft and friendly when facing me.

"Jonea, did this beast do any strange things to you?"

I glanced at Daran before answering.

Daran groaned softly. "What do you think I am? Doing strange things?"

I tried to ignore Daran and looked straight at Eve. "Strange thing?"

Daran hissed. "Jonea, you should have said immediately that I didn't do anything to you!"

"Do not interfere!" Eve shouted as she raised her fist as if to threaten Daran.

"If forcibly removing my clothes and washing me is weird, then that's probably what he's done to me. He also carried me on his lap and fed me like a child."

"Oh," Eve exclaimed, smiling down at me. Suddenly she punched Daran really hard. Daran screamed in pain.

"Fuck! What's your problem, Evangelista?" Daran protested.

"You perverted Lycan King! Go out and let me talk to Jonea alone!"

I saw Eve actually shooing Daran out of the shop. I need to find out where he went. Strangely enough, I wasn't worried about being left there alone. I felt comfortable and safe around Eve.

I don't know, maybe because we are fellow women and understand each other. I suddenly felt Eve's presence like Marilyn–the best friend I've ever had.

Oh, if only I had the chance to see Marilyn again. I suddenly became melancholic.

It was really just the two of us inside the shop. That's when I have time to be able to focus on paying attention to the circumstances around me. I realized Eve was a craftsman after all. She was a craftsman of weapons and armour.

"Are these all private collections?" I asked casually, even though I was sure it was all Eve's creation. "Or items for sale?"

I saw that several swords had just been forged. However, I don't know any furnace for forging swords there.

"I have a place to specifically forge these swords. Sometime I will show it to you. This shop displays only. Instead of making swords, I often receive services to repair customer weapons."

"This is amazing," I said, touching one of the suits of armour.

And I was reminded of Kabuto, who had caused a commotion while at Abraham High School.

"Is it just a collection? I don't think so, do I?"

"When not in use, just think of it as a display. However, if you live in Blackton, these things will be beneficial one day according to their function."

"What exactly is your relationship with Daran?"

After asking that question, I suddenly felt very regretful. Why should I ask about Daran's life?

Eve smiled amusedly. "You're jealous, huh? Stay cool. There was nothing personal or romantic between us like you might think, Jonea."

"No! That's not what I meant!" I waved my hands to clear up this misunderstanding.

"Take it easy, Jonea. I was even surprised when Daran introduced you as his future bride. I thought he was just kidding. But, seeing Daran's seriousness when he said he wanted to switch to Blue Sapphire to make you happy, he has found his mate.”

"What?" I'm speechless. "Switch to Sapphire Blue, for my sake?"

"Oops!" Eve said as if she had let it slip. "I hope you don't tell this to Daran. I told you because I like you."

I sat and waited for Eve to explain further.

"Daran Carver was a cold and notorious Lycan King in this land. But, he was also a much-admired leader. Daran could guard and protect us from all threats for hundreds of years. Thus making Blackton the only empire that has survived to this day. When other countries have developed rapidly into modern countries and changed leadership many times. Either through war or power struggle."

"Of course," Eve continued. "Daran still has its drawbacks. Even that lack is the only thing that makes Daran attractive in the eyes of beautiful girls across this country."

"Lack?"

"After this country was in a state of security, Daran shut himself up in his black castle for 100 years. During that time, he never opened up to any woman."

"When Loko came here some time ago and said that Daran had found his bride, it surprised me. I thought Loko was just kidding. However, he has no sense of humour. You know what I mean, right?"

I nodded. Loko has no expression and is always serious.

"Daran made one special request of me. He wanted me to set up a few things for him to move into Sapphire Blue for the bride's sake. For your sake, Jonea."

"What do you mean, Eve? Why did Daran decide to switch to Blue Sapphire for me?"

"You can ask Daran directly. But what is clear is for a Daran Carver who never leaves his nest. And suddenly decided to go to another country he had never even visited. It is a miracle and a form of seriousness."

I was pensive for a while. Should I be happy or sad to hear all this? On the one hand, I'm excited to be back at Sapphire Blue. But I'm also afraid of meeting Luke Draken again. I haven't yet found a way to awaken the wolf inside me. What exactly is Daran's plan?
