Chapter 1108: Chapter 1108
Alix firmly believed in the saying - ’Action speaks louder than words.’ So that’s what she was trying to do. She observed how affectionate the couples in the family were but she couldn’t imagine herself like them. So if words were becoming the roadblock for her, she assumed her actions would overcome it.
She thought it would make Jin happy but he happened to take some other meaning behind her thought process. From the corner of her eye, she saw his tear drops plop down.
"Why are you crying?" She was stunned.
"I’m sorry..." he clutched the rabbit scarf in his hand. "I’m sorry that I didn’t understand you. It’s things like these that make me *hiccup* insecure...If it had been Hou Lin, you wouldn’t have had to explain this to him. He would have understood you. I didn’t..."
"Okay first of all, stop comparing yourself to Lin."
Her eyes narrowed so dangerously that Jin jolted and swallowed his words back.
"Let’s just first establish that both Lin and Shui have a very special place in our life. Obviously, they know a lot more about us than we know about each other and it’s fine. Neither I’m competing with Shui nor I want you to be competing with Lin. We will simply go at our own pace."
He hugged her tighter and whispered. "Okay."
"Also, I’m not going to leave you to go to Lin’s side. If I had wanted that, I wouldn’t have agreed to the contract."
"Really?" His tipsy black eyes stared at her with a mix of anxiety and hope.
Her response brought back the light in his eyes and he grinned. He squished his cheek against hers as if a heavy burden was lifted off his chest.
"Thank you! I love you!"
He looked back at her and finding her complicated gaze, he tilted his head, puzzled. "What happened? D-Did I say something wrong?"
Alix was about to respond when she held her words back.
"...That’s the thing I was talking about earlier. I...don’t know what to do when you look at me like that."
"Like what?" He blinked.
"Like...I’m your whole world."
"But you are my whole world."
She pressed her lips. She knew that for a long time now.
When he entertained her selfishness during her time as the CEO.
When he helped her fight Yuze and became the shield to protect her at all costs.
When he chased after her despite knowing the truth of her identity.
When he foolishly was ready to be in jail just to be able to meet her.
When he handed over a signed check despite it being a risky move for his contract.
When he had all his meals with her instead of with his family to not leave her alone.
When he visited her mother’s grave.
When he understood her need for space and silently hugged her to sleep.
When he watched her read an entire book without any complaints.
When he cared about her relationship with Guiying.
When he got hurt making a booklet pendant for her.
When he wished he could touch her but was stopping himself from imposing on her.
And above everything, when he married her, giving her a big, wonderful family who accepted her with open arms despite the villain that she was in the past.
Jin had brought so many flutters in her heart over time that this happiness was beginning to frighten her. For a person who hadn’t seen the face of happiness, these little feelings overjoyed her, yet they felt very momentary to her. She had gotten too used to seeing pain and dark clouds, not smiles and sunlight.
"It scares me at times..." her breath felt a little shaky to her. "I feel happy when I see my reflection in your eyes. But I...I...don’t know how to respond to that."
It was why, Alix surmised, Jin couldn’t always tell how she felt about him.
It wasn’t that she didn’t feel. But her feelings were silent waves - subtle, still, while his came crashing like tides.
And so, doubt had started to worm its way into his heart. Maybe he felt like he was the only one moved, nervous, thrilled, breathless in her presence while she stayed too composed. Too calm.
"But I did want to..." she bit her lip, "thank you for everything. So I made that scarf..." She cleared her throat.
Jin fell into a deep thought as his head lolled from one side to the other.
She blinked, startled.
He softly held her face and bumped his temple against hers. "You don’t have to worry about anything - about what you have to say or how you should respond. If you don’t know what to say, then just kiss me on the cheek hehe~ I will take that as you are happy!"
She paused. "Really? Don’t you want me to be more...vocal about my feelings?"
He grinned. "I just want you to like me. Whether you say it or show it, I will be happy either way."
Alix gave it a thought and said, "If you promise not to think about Lin and feel insecure, then it’s not fair that I don’t take some effort on my side too. So I...I will try to tell you what I feel as much as I can. Starting with let’s say...I really liked the pendant you made for me so I will wear it tomorrow. I didn’t until now because I was worrying about the scarf."
His face blossomed with pure joy and his eyes shone with mistiness. "My wife is the best!"
Alix felt the warmth from his cheek pressed against her face and she coughed slightly. She then felt a poke on her shoulder from him and turned.
"Can I kiss you?" He slightly blushed, his already reddish hue deepening a bit.
She arched her brow, amused.
Alcohol really changes him a lot, huh. He would have never asked me this sober.
"I want my first kiss when you will be sober so no."
His face dropped and he snuggled more. "Okay."
He poked her on the shoulder again.
"Can I kiss you tomorrow?"
"Will you be drunk tomorrow?"
He shook his head vigorously. "I won’t!"
He shone. "I can kiss you tomorrow?"
"Only if you are not drunk."
He nodded, extremely satisfied which urged Alix to pinch his cheeks so she did.
"C-Can I hold your hand too while we walk?" Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net
Jin felt so overjoyed that he wanted to fly.
"Can we click pictures?"
"You don’t have to ask. We are here to have fun."
She reminded him of his own logic.
Once again, the joy introduced glitters in the air.
"Can we...snuggle and sleep tonight?" He was more hesitant to ask this question.
"I thought you would never ask. Yes."
She wanted to say that his bear hug was very comfortable but couldn’t add that part.
Jin was now officially not standing on earth anymore for his wings now took him to the skies beyond.
"Aliiiixxxxxxx, I love youuuuuu a looooooottttttt *hiccup*," his eyes shone with nothing but pure love, albeit with a mix of intoxication. He stretched his arms at the back as if emphasizing the point of ’a looooooottttttt.’
Seeing the stars in his eyes brought a funny tickle in her chest. She parted and shut her lips and after much back and forth, eventually dropped a peck on cheek.
Jin gasped, stupefied. "You...You kissed me..."
"...You said I can show if I cannot say," she averted her eyes.
He hugged the already hugged Alix. "Yes! You can show as much as you want! I will take all your kisses!"
