Chapter 1105: Chapter 1105

Jin picked a small hammer and some wooden materials when he noticed Alix's gaze in response to which he immediately turned his back on her.

He wanted to keep it a surprise for her. Considering how much she liked reading, he thought about making a chain locket for her with a miniature version of a booklet he would make from wood hanging from its center as the pendant. He took it to be a good idea but doubts still crept in his heart.

Will a booklet pendant look cliche? Will it give too much of a serious vibe?

He tried to think of other options but couldn't think of any, which made him feel a little uneasy.

The event started which was about to last for an hour so he quickly got to work. When he was halfway over his project, the participating couple in the neighbouring booth cheered and laughed. They were an Asian couple and hearing little bits of their conversation, he took it that they were from Malaysia from the limited knowledge of Malay he understood.

"I always wanted this kind of hat!" The wife shone.

"Hehe, I couldn't buy the original pirate hat for your collection. It was too e-expensive…" her husband guiltily coughed, "So I thought to replicate! I took a good look at the pictures and studied it very hard to make it exactly the same! I know you have been wanting this since the fourth grade," he laughed.

The wife's eyes teared up, feeling emotional and she hugged him. "You still remember that…It has been so long."

"Of course I remembered. Your eyes always shone the brightest when you talked about your favorite pirate character! I had decided that I'll be the one to give you the hat no matter what. Though this is just a replica…"

She vigorously shook her head and kissed his cheek. "This is enough for me! You spent so much time and learned all this only for me…This will be our heirloom we'll pass down to our generations!"

"Y-You are an idiot!" He coughed and blushed slightly.

Jin, who was partially observing them as he worked, smiled at the couple seeing them so loving and happy. Yet his fingers trembled somewhere as he fit the last screw to fit the booklet. He stared at his finished product after doing some minor coloring. Though it was a perfect pendant and Alix would look beautiful wearing it, he still felt a faint sense of loss he couldn't put a finger on.

The event came to an end when the bell chimed and the host happily announced to reveal their projects. The energetic buzz returned in the air, but Jin and Alix remained seated. Neither of them moved for a long time. Eventually they both did at the same time but Alix got to him a moment faster.

She kept glancing left and right while clenching the piece of cloth in her hand. When her gaze fell onto his hand, she blinked. She held it and took a closer look.

"Why did you get hurt in your fingers?" She asked after seeing the scratches and slightly peeling off skin at the edges near the nails. He wasn't bleeding but they surely looked reddish and swollen.

"Ah this…Just minor scratches. Don't worry."

She frowned. "You will still need to put a bandaid on it. Just what were you doing that got you hurt?"

Jin parted his lips that quivered unknowingly. All of a sudden, he didn't feel like showing the pendant to her but he knew he couldn't do that either. Hesitant, he opened his other palm that revealed a metallic chain and the pendant at the center.

Alix's eyes widened with a pleasant surprise. "That's pretty."

She now understood why he got hurt. The small wooden booklet was quite intricate to make and fix and easily prone to hurt yourself in the process.

"You…think so?" His breaths grew shallow.

"Yeah," she slowly dangled the chain in the air and her eyes glowed, impressed. "You made a booklet pendant because I like books?"

He stiffened. "...Yeah. I..I know it's silly."

"No, it's not. It's really beautiful and thoughtful. Thank you."

He read her genuine appreciation from her gaze and voice and smiled. "Welcome."

Alix paused a beat knowing that it was her turn now. She tapped her left foot on the ground slightly impatiently as she bit on her lower lip. Finally, she held a scarf in her hand which Jin slowly unwrapped.

He brightened, seeing the beautiful embroidery stitches at the borders and a mini stitch of an animal at the corner of the scarf.

"You stitched a scarf for yourself. That's cool!" Newest update provided by noⅴelfire.net

"Why are you looking confused? This wolf is so cute," he pointed at the wolf's embroidery at the bottom. "Yina calls you the wolf so you made a wolf. It's adorable. Though I would like to protest my rabbit status…"

Alix stared at the scarf, silent horror spreading within her.

Shit…Shit, shit, shit!

The corner of her eyes found a second scarf lying on the table similar to the one Jin was holding and felt her heart would really crash out of her chest at that moment. She had picked up the wrong scarf out of nervousness. Read ahead and get updates by visiting M^VLEMPYR.

"Is that another scarf?" Jin was about to pick it but Alix grabbed it first.

"No, it's not. I was just…trying out some new stitches so it's a failed attempt," she said with a scarily straight face.

"O-Okay. Don't worry. I won't make fun of it."

He chuckled helplessly. "Alright."

The winner was announced at the end of the event.

"It was really a close call since there were so many amazing creations! But the prize goes to…Mr. Yeoh!"

The Malaysian couple from before jumped with happiness, especially the wife. She cried out of happiness and kissed her husband on the cheek. Everybody cheered and clapped for them as they stepped forward to take their prize, which was free tickets to the cruise trip.

Jin and Alix clapped for them too though with smiles that couldn't quite reach their eyes.
