Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Years later...
The wedding vows that had been taken, would always be the binding between us. We had built a prosperous and peaceful family together during our ten years of marriage.
I am grateful to have two children, Adrian and Skylar.
Adrian Ainsley, aged nine, had become an older brother who loves his younger sister, Skylar. He really became a big brother for her.
His face is not the same bit as mine, but with his father. Sometimes I got annoyed by comments from people who never realized my resemblance to him.
They often said that none of my children look like me. Even my lovely baby, Skylar. She's 99 percent like her father, only different genders.
"Look mom, I have a new word to tell you." Adrian came over to me with his favorite basketball between his right arm.
I don't know where his hobbies come from, but he really likes playing basketball. Barra and I don't even like the sport that much.
"What is that?" I crouched down to get full access to his face. He was covered in sweat, making me wipe it then came back to my question.
"Do you know what 'Fuck' means?" He innocently asked me.
"Where did you get those words?" I was pretty sure my voice turned into a roaring sound.
He paused for a second, thinking, "From my schoolmates, from uncle Ronald, uncle Jake, even dad."
"WHAT?" I stood up, ready to beat their head, especially Barra's.
"Mom, please! Don't kill daddy." I frowned at his comment. Did he really think I was going to kill his father? For God's sake, I love my husband very much.
I sighed understandingly then looked at him who was still gripping the edge of my shirt. He even loves his father so much.
"I'll just talk to him. How can you think I'll kill him anyway?"
"You said, 'I'll kill you' when you talked to him another day." He released his grip then looked at me with a deep frown.
Okay, guess kids don't get adult jokes. Really, I was just joking with what I said.
"You heard wrong." I poked his nose, "Come on, Aunty Alia will be here soon. You want chocolate from her, right?"
And just like that, he was hooked on his favorite food, so he forgot about his father whom I wanted to kill.
"Then hurry up, mom!" He yelled then ran away, leaving me in a gaping mode.
I sighed, "Guess it's my clue to chase after him." I walked after him and looked for a little Skylar. Since morning she didn't come out of her room. At least that's what was in my sight, because the girl usually running around the mansion.
I didn't know what she was doing in her room.
She really loves pink and all the bright colors. Every time I opened the door to her room, I would find the soles of my feet stepping on sharp objects that made me scream.
Cooking toys were scattered everywhere and often endanger the soles of the feet of anyone who entered her room. Therefore, I made a habit to peek first before stepping inside.
"Skylar?" I didn't hear the answer from her soft voice. There was no one in the room. It looked clean and not messy like usual.
I started to panic and ran out of the room, "Skylar!" I kept running until I hit someone's shoulder, but quickly the familiar-strong hand always caught me at the right time. My clumsiness intensified every time I got panic.
"What's wrong?" Barra asked in shock seeing myself trying to say something but not a word came out of my mouth.
If I was not in panic mode, those words came out easily. Hell, why is it so hard to say that Skylar is nowhere?
"My baby girl!" I was getting frustrated and losing control of myself. I tried to let go his arm from mine, but his grip was so sticky.
Instead he laughed at my panic, "Skylar is nowhere!" I screamed in annoyance, "This is about our daughtet! How can you laugh?"
"Calm down first." He pulled me to sit with him downstairs.
"Stop! This is not the right time to calm down. I can't find my daughter." I shook my head at his indifference, "Oh my goodness."
"Drink it." I knew he lost his mind, but why did I obey and drink it?
"Look, Alia was here earlier and only met Skylar. So, she just asked her out when she couldn't find you and Adrian." He explained with a face trying to surprise me.
"Do you think this is funny?" I stood up then put the glass down, feeling already irritated.
"Principessa, listen-"
"Oh fuck! I don't like it! Not even a bit." I groaned in a nasty headache.
"Now I got that word from my mother too." My eyes bulged at the source of the voice. Adrian with his trademark grin was standing behind us.
Since when has that boy been there?
"What? No-no no! I'm sorry, darling. God!" I wanted to angry to myself. Why the heck I forget that Adrian with us all the time?
"So, tell me what that means?" Barra chuckled seeing that I was full of difficulty and at a loss as to how to explain it.
Usually Adrian would always haunt me with all his unanswered-questions. He didn't stop wanting to know everything.
I'd tried to answer all of his questions as best as I could, but somehow my answer actually raised another question in his head.
But, it was different when he was with Barra, even though his father only answered a few of his questions, but still he quickly understood it and didn't ask any further question.
I believed that Barra used black magic over him, or am I just not good at taking care of my own babies?
"Hey, when you grow up, you'll know the meaning of each word naturally." Barra approached him then smiled a reassuring way. I was always melting whenever faced with his perfect smile.
Adrian nodded, "Did that also happen to you, dad?" Barra nodded and then we found Skylar's voice filled with joy all over the room.
The little girl was carrying a bag of chocolates, with Alia walking beside her. Time passed so fast, now Alia in her twenty years old and had completed her study from school.
She told me that she was in the middle of her semester in the same University like me, no- I meant the real Jazzlin.
"Alia has bought me all of this." Skylar said with an overflowing joy. Apparently Alia's favorite food had now continued to be little Skylar's favorite food.
Skylar's chubby face twitched, as if chewing something in her mouth. I thought she must had eaten one of those chocolates.
"And some for Adrian." Oh yeah, that's right, not only Skylar but also Adrian likes chocolate.
"By the way, Haytham is here and he wants to talk to you." Alia shrugged like she had no idea what would Haytham say.
"Let's go outside." I grabbed Barra's hand then we were heading outside. Since getting married, I didn't want any misunderstanding between us like what had happened. So I took a good way by made it clear for whatever thing that happened between all of us.
I rarely saw Haytham except during family gatherings on holidays like now. He was supposed to get married at his age, but he admitted that he still enjoyed being single.
Well then, good luck for him. I wish he would find someone who could make his heart tremble just by hearing her voice.
"Welcome back." I didn't know since when, but Barra started to have a good connection with him. If in the past they used to have great animosities, now I didn't even believe my eyes. They were getting closer to each other than to myself.
"Hi." Haytham sent him a warm hug then to me.
The three of us chatted and let out laughter every time Haytham told us his unfunny jokes. I looked at the faces of the two of them then smiled triumphantly after getting through that tough time.
My world seemed to stop as I took a step back and took every moment of their laughter into my brain, like a recording.
They didn't notice it, but my eyes started to feel hot. I was ready to cry, but this time I cried full of blessedness.
It had been ten years since all the madness happened, but every time I remembered it, I kind of go back to those old times.
"Mom?" Adrian and Skylar's summons broke all my thoughts.
"What's the matter, my darlings?" They ran to hug me. I didn't know what they wanted, usually they wanting something when they acted so cute.
"Why are you crying?" The innocent Skylar was more careful in paying attention to people around her than Adrian. She was more touched and understood what was going on.
"Me? Crying? I'm not, baby."
Adrian nodded in believe even Skylar's face told me the opposite.
"We want to invite Uncle Haytham to play, can we?" I smiled a moment Haytham's eyes begged me not to allow them. Somehow Haytham really caught the attention of young children. His compassionate and patient demeanor fitted well with the personalities of Adrian and Skylar.
"Go then." I replied with a devilish smile to Haytham. His face showed that he had given up and followed Adrian's invitation to play. They all went to somewhere to play.
"You're so naughty." Barra hugged me from behind, "I'm sure you did that so we could be alone, right?" His voice was right on my neck. The feelings he gave was still the same as before and my feelings had never changed towards him.
"Thank you for being present in the emptiness of my life. I know I'm not the real Jazzlin, but you still love me as me. I know it's hard to forget her real self, but you keep trying until we're inseparable now." I let go of his hug and turned to look at his face. His eyes stared at me full of compassion and admiration.
"I've been wanting to say all this for a long time, but I'm not good at assembling words." I smiled nervously, "I'm glad you are my soul mate and the father of my children."
I was waiting for his answer with raised eyebrows, "You don't want to send me beautiful words too?"
He chuckled and then just as I lost control, he crashed his lips against mine, "You are the best thing that has ever happened to me." He whispered between our collided lips.
He might be able to feel my smile. My smile bursted at his words that were few but full of meaning.
"You're stingy with words, can't you explain it more deeply?" I rambled on as we broke our kisses. He smiled again, then I was shocked when his hands lifted my body.
He carried me like a kidnapper who was kidnapping a little girl, really nothing romantic from it. At least he had to carry me in the bridal style.
"Hey, let me go!"
He chuckled lowly, "Never."
