Chapter 51: Chapter 51
Jazzlin is my best friend since childhood. She never hid anything from me even though the things was hurting me. Then why, what had happened recently making me not sure she was still the same woman.
She kept a lot of secrets nowadays, such as her secret of the accident that happened to the poor girl friend of Haytham.
So what now? I couldn't believe she was still hiding something from me even after I told her what I was really feeling.
Was that so hard to tell me? I just wanted to know every inch of her, her problems, her feelings, what her thoughts were, or how her point of view worked.
"It's kind of weird because we're finally having a meeting with Haytham." Jake talked to Ronald. They must had thought that I fell asleep.
I just closed my eyes for a moment because my head felt dizzy. My mind never stops thinking about Jazzlin. That woman kept making my brain think hard and looking for every way to find out all about her.
If only we hadn't separated when we went to college, I was sure we could stay as open to each other as we used to be.
"Yeah, especially Young Master himself agreed to attend." Ronald answered.
"Does Janielle know about this?"
Janielle? The girl who died from being hit by Jazzlin?
"Nope." After Ronald's answer, Jake did not asking anything else. I didn't hear his voice so that it made me peek a little between my heavy eyelids.
Ronald spoke to Jake but without a sound. It was as if they were learning each other's mouth movements without making a sound.
Something was not right the way they were talking. God damn! They also had secrets like Jazzlin.
I know everyone had the right to keep each other's secrets, but for this one I felt their secret had something to do with me.
But, I ignored it. I closed my eyes again until we entered the gate of the mansion. The guards had welcomed us. They didn't wear masks like I saw before.
Of course, they were not subordinate to criminals. I knew Haytham had divided some of his men for their different suitability.
"Welcome, boss is waiting for you. And, I'll take you to his office." The man with his big body approached me. He was somewhat similar to the man Haytham had sent before him, but he was clearly not that man.
I nodded then walked in. Some of the spots I recognized. It was the exact same photo my spy had taken.
Lots of empty rooms were not filled with various things that might give a family friendly impression. However, there were not many decorations or displays there. Everything was empty until the figure of a child sitting on the sofa caught my attention.
Alia sat down playing a doll in her hand. In front of her was a table with some chocolate snacks and pastries.
"Hi beautiful." I greeted her, made all the men stop then followed behind me.
She looked up and got startled, "Barra!" She shouldered me before her gaze changed, "You kidnapped Janielle, huh?"
Janielle? Why was everyone mentioning that girl's name lately?
"She means Jazzlin." Haytham's voice made all of his men look down at him, "She just likes to get it wrong lately."
Alia seemed to object to Haytham's answer, but the little girl chose to remain silent and obey.
"Seems like Alia has one thing she wants to say." I didn't like how Haytham cut off what the girl was trying to say. He must let her speak freely as she pleases.
"The meeting will start now." He answered me without thinking then walked towards the direction from where he appeared.
My hands were curling into a fist, but Jake held me back as he said, "Just let it go." I snorted in annoyance before following him walking.
The meeting started. This wasn't a meeting about business or anything, but about what had happened between these two families.
This should not be done so formally, but we made it that way to make it more legitimate.
Haytham and I were mostly silent. Only our selected men were busy sending arguments from our respective sides regarding all the losses that had occurred.
Of course, I still didn't accept it after his assault on Jake and then on all of us. But, my intention for the revenge had gone, I just wanted him to make up for all the losses especially some of the damage to my hospital.
Haytham admitted all his mistakes and would compensate immediately. He had changed a bit since a while ago, and sometimes it kept me vigilant.
He stood up because his man took him out to discuss the matter in more privacy after he made his decision.
It was almost two minutes since he was gone and I was not a man who's willing to wait any longer while the meeting was going on. Moreover, I already missed Jazzlin. She must had been waiting for me.
With that I left the meeting room. No need for orders or anything. Ronald, Jake, and my men understand. They also followed me to leave.
Haytham's men tried to ask us a little more time, but I wasn't paid attention to them.
I came out then came to a completely stop when I saw Jazzlin was hugging him.
I walked quickly towards them then pulled Jazzlin by force. Her face was shocked when she saw me here. She looked ... like she didn't expect me to be in Haytham's mansion.
I ignored her and immediately threw my punch right at Haytham's face. It was unexpectedly for him, so he immediately fell from my first punch.
"Barra, cut it out!" Jazzlin grabbed my hand, but I kept sending my next punch at Haytham before he finally tried to retaliate.
"Elsa!" I heard Ronald scream as Jake and the rest of our men tried the relay.
Even Elsa is here too! What the hell.
"Barra." Jazzlin pushed me away from the scene then held my cheeks, "I-"
I interrupted her, "Don't say another word." I ordered her coldly.
Tell me which man was not hurt when he found his lover hugging another man behind his back?
"So, when I was away you have been seeing Haytham secretly?" I hated asking her such a hurtful question. But, my heart was in pain and I couldn't numb it in instant.
I had given her a second chance many times, but it was all turned out the same.
"No! I have my own purpose here! Don't think about nonsensical things." She looked so begging.
"I don't think nonsensicial things if I didn't see you hugging him like that! Am I just a barrier between your relationship?" I breathed heavily, "For God's sake Jazzlin! I love you."
"That's the problem." She answered swiftly. Really? the problem was that I love her. Doesn't she want me to love her?
"Just stop giving me headache." I said nonchalantly. I didn't want to care anymore. She herself said she loves me, even she looked happy when I said that before. Then why did she make my feelings a problem from her self-infidelity?
"You didn't even reply to what I said earlier."
"Trust me, I love you too!" She spoke in soft way.
"Then how can you cheated on me with him?" I asked her as my heart racing. I had the strange sensation attacked it.
"You have to listen to her first." Jake stood beside her, "You have done the same thing and she gave you a chance to talk."
I should be angry that Jake was not on my side anymore, but as he was with Jazzlin, I had nothing to say but wait for her to explain.
Her turn was given so she had the opportunity to speak, but she just froze right there. Her eyes had never met mine, I knew there were things she couldn't explain from the way she looking at things other than me.
"She isn't Jazzlin." Haytham spoke from behind.
His words made me close my eyes for a moment, "What other evil plans do you want to make this time?" I turned around and sent him the most hated look that I had never given to anyone.
"He doesn't have any other bad plans." Jazzlin tried to defend him.
"You're even defending him now." My voice was full of bitterness towards her.
"He's speaking the real thing." This time it was Elsa who talked. Wait a minute, what did Haytham say?
Oh yeah, he said Jazzlin wasn't Jazzlin.
"What kind of joke is this?" I returned my complete attention to Jazzlin who was now crying softly. Her lips trembled as if she had run out of words to make me believe in her.
Her hands were joined to each other. Her breath sounded short, she was having difficulty breathing due to sobbing tears.
Their words were not lies. Jazzlin's hoarse cry made me flinch and believed this was all real. They didn't set traps or anything.
However, I still didn't understand what Haytham had said.
"Have you ever heard of soul swapping?" Haytham moved from where his place was towards me, "That's what happened to your Jazzlin and my Janielle."
"I thought you were smart but you believe in that?" I chuckled expressionlessly. Jazzlin's eyes showed me how much she begged me to believe Haytham's words.
I believed it for her, but when it came to my logic sense, I couldn't easily believe it.
