Chapter 29: Chapter 29

"Okay, so here's the plan."

Moorah explained every detail of her plan that she had thought through in her mind. I had known that Moorah was as sly as a fox.

"What do you think?" She smirked, "But, on one condition... You have to help me get to Jake."

I pointed my finger, "It's easy-peasy lemon squeezy." I was really sorry for Jake, "Deal."

"Nice to work with you." She smiled.

Is this another bad idea or not? Moorah devised a strategy to trap Zohran. She would admit that she couldn't forget him, and wanting him back. In other words teasing the man, getting him drunk, then taking the opportunity behind it.

I couldn't help but thinking that I might need a back up. Should I ask Barra a favor? But, I had been bothering him many times. Besides, I couldn't keep relying on him.

Dinner was ready, everyone gathered in the dining room. However, my father did not attend. I sent Moorah a signal where he was, but that woman also showed a pure face if she didn't know.

Barra was not home yet, he informed us that he would come home late because of his unfinished business. I understood it, moreover he had to handle my problems.

"The food looks delicious." Mr. Sumedh commented while the meal was being served, "Where's your father?" He asked us and sent his confused look.

"Soon he'll come." Moorah tried to convince him even though it was clear that she wasn't sure either.

"Where is he?" I asked, half whispered.

"I have no idea, okay?" She shook her head.

"Should I call him?"

Moorah shook her head, "Bad idea."

"I know dad doesn't like me, but at least let me try it." I got up from my place then said excuse me before going to my father's room.

I heard the voice of the man on the phone as I entered the hallway to his room. It couldn't be denied that it was my father's voice. He was busy on the phone while I arrived in front of his room. The door opened with him standing with his back to me.

Just as I wanted to knock and call his name, a name came out of his mouth, "Jazzlin isn't my daughter anymore." His voice was bitter the moment he said my name.

I stepped to the side of the wall as he turned around, "The pure and small girl that I have always praised and loved has changed. She's not the girl I used to know. My Jazzlin was innocent and has a kind heart."

My chest tightened at his statement. His voice sounded as if he was venting deep disappointment at me.

I raised my hands, looked at them, thinking what Jazzlin had done to make her father so angry and hate her.

"So stop meddling in my business with that woman's business." He sighed, "I have nothing else to do with her."

A great sob escaped me and I wiped my cheeks every few seconds. My lips trembled as I cried.

I couldn't hear any further conversation. My feet took steps, ran away. Mr. Sumedh was shocked when I came out teary-eyed, he tried to ask me what happened. But, I couldn't explain it. My heart was hurting too much to speak a word.

Moorah seemed to understand what happened, that was the reason she kept me since earlier.

"I wanna get some fresh air." I informed as I took my steps forward. I could no longer live there.

"Jazzlin, wait a minute!" Moorah held me but I refused and kept running outside.

When I got outside, the guards approached me. I knew them, Barra's men.

"Young Lady, where are you going?" One of them asked, "Young Master ordered us to watch over you."

It was my chance, "Because of your duty to look after me, then take me to Jake."

"To the hospital at night like this?" He asked again.

"Yeah. Is there something wrong with that?" I rolled my eyes.

That was the reason why I was in the hospital now with Jake.

He laughed with a mouth full of his porridge, "You're really rebellious, huh? Even though Barra asked you to stay indoors."

I lowered my head over his bed, "I don't like staying at home when he's not around."

"You really love him, don't you?" Hearing that question, I looked up.

"What? Are you crazy?"

"From the way you look at each other it can't be denied that you feel the same." Jake sat up straight and put down his bowl of porridge.

"Barra said he doesn't even want to get married." The words left my mouth unexpectedly.

"It doesn't mean he's incapable of loving someone." He wiped his forehead before letting his body back to the soft mattress.

"Then you concluded that he loves me?" I pinched his hand making him scream for mercy.

"Your pinch is like a bee sting." He rubbed lightly with his eyes squeezed, "Damn! even worse."

I chuckled, "What about your stomach wound? It looks like a little better."

He nodded, looked at the part of his stomach which was covered by the blanket, "I'm getting quite well, the doctor said it might take two or three more days to consider whether I can get out of here." He glanced at me before shaking his head, "You don't know how bored I am to be here."

"I wish you a quick get out of here." I laughed softly, then leaned my body behind the bench I was sitting on.

"How's Moorah?" He asked with a smirk.

I closed my eyes while answering, "She can't stop asking me about you."

"It's good to hear that."

I glared at his comment, "If you just wanna mess with her feelings, then back off!" Even though Moorah was annoying and hurt me a lot, I still couldn't let her hurt especially when she trusted me enough to know her feelings for Jake.

"I don't have any intention of hurting her either, I think I'm in love." He spoke dramatically with his hand that he pressed against his chest as if a love angel had placed his heart for someone.

"Ewww." I pursed my lips, "Then after you're recovering, ask her out."

"Absolutely." He said while playing with his phone like he was chatting with someone, "And, Barra would be here in minutes."

"What the hell? You told him?" I shook my head, "This is betrayal." Okay, I was too much.

"Without me telling him, he'll definitely find out. You kidnapped his men to come here. Don't you think he can't track their location?" He mocked me.

"You said that like I'm a real kidnapper." I rolled my eyes, and got up from my seat.

"Where are you going?" He stopped me from moving.

"I want to pee, why? Want to come?" I made fun of him, making him give me a look of disgust.

The hospital hallway was very quiet for a moment I left the room to the restroom. There were only a few waiting patients who occasionally passed by. Actually the visiting time was up, but I insisted on entering using Barra's name. My bad habit.

For a moment with Jake, I forgot my problem with my father until this silence made me remember his words. His hateful gaze the first time I arrived. His way to get away from me whenever I was by his side. It all hurted me so much.

There were still many puzzles that I had not solved. The letter of agreement between Mr. Sumedh and my father, the reason for Haytham's revenge, and also why did my own father hate me so much? I tried to forget and settled my personal affairs.

After finished using the restroom, I returned to Jake's room. Right when I opened the door, I found Barra was already sitting there. He left the collar open with the sleeves he rolled up. Messy but sexy. His hair was slightly wet and ruffled. He bent his leg over his other leg as if relaxing.

I gaped at the sight.

"I always find you, principessa." He said it in his sleepy voice, "I wish I could spend my time with you, but I hardly get a break." He let a huffed out from his mouth.

I could feel my cheeks burned.

Jake cleared his throat, "I advise you to go home and spend some time together."

I glared at him as Barra chuckled, "Let's go home." Barra said to me again.

I was sweating every time he said 'Home'. There was a vibration of my heart every time he said it. I began to imagine things that I knew it could not be happen.

Before I embarrassed myself further I replied, "Let's go. You look so tired by the way."

"Yeah, rough day." He smiled like a boy.

I walked over to him before Jake cleared his throat again, "Don't do nasty things, I'm still here!"

Both of us laughed, "Nasty things? Oh really?" I teased him.

Jake frowned then covered his face with the blanket and said, "Be careful on the way home and thank you for stopping by."

"See you soon." I chuckled as Barra added, "Get well soon."
