Chapter 28: Chapter 28

What had happened literally wasn't just a dream. It was real, actually too real for me to believe. However, we decided to take it slow. I was not ready for a relationship and neither was him.

This was all new to me. Besides, he never discussed it, so I just shut my mouth... never mention or talk about it. Neither Elsa, Jake, nor the others knew about this.

Back to my father's penthouse, I felt isolated. He ignored me while I was there. Until the day for dinner that we had been waiting for arrived.

Moorah was totally crazy in love with Jake. She just kept following me, just to ask me everything about Jake. I wanted to curse them badly.

"Does he like spicy food?" She asked while busy concocting spices.

"No." I didn't know, dammit!

"Then, non-spicy food, huh?"

"No?" I meant I didn't know either.

"Then what does he like?" She got irritated.

"Oh my Godness, I don't know." Finally, I told her the truth.

Moorah glared at me before grumbling. I didn't care, but I was kinda pitying her for trying to cook something for Jake, "Indeed you will visit him again?" I asked.

"Yeah, after dinner I'll be there." She shrugged her shoulders before looking completely at me.

"I'll try to ask Elsa, maybe she knows." I replied indifferently. I didn't want to be seen caring about her or looking friendly.

"Thank you so much! It's mean a lot for me." She grinned.

Unlike what was in Barra's mansion, my father didn't have many servants. Only a few were there, that was why Moorah and I took part in cooking dinner tonight.

"You're not as bad as I thought." Moorah shrugged her shoulders, still busy with what she was doing.

"What do you mean?" I asked as I helped other servant preparing the dessert.

She stopped doing her activities then looked at me, "All this time I thought you were crazy about power, money, and maybe fame." She seemed to be debating with herself whether to tell me or not, before finally her eyes showed sincerity, "I was envy of what you have."

"That's why you try to take everything I have?" I asked, taking my eyes off her.

"You're beautiful, smart, have lots of fans, and you also have Barra." She snorted, "Tell me who's not envy of you?"

"It's the bad nature of humans. Seeing what's beautiful on the outside, then concluding that a person's life is better than your own life." Okay, I sounded like I was giving her a lecture.

"You're not happy?" It was like completely unbelievable for her.

"Geez, I never said I'm not happy." I rolled my eyes, "I'm just asked you to change your perspective."

She didn't answer any further, but I knew Moorah. She would think about what I had said.

Later that day, Mr. Sumedh and my father didn't go anywhere, they just enjoyed what was at home, like playing cards together and a few other things.

As for Barra he had to take care of other things, he promised to come home on time for dinner together.

After finished preparing everything, I returned to the room. My mother had contacted me, telling me that Barra would handle my videotape case. She also asked me to act like I didn't know about this case, because Barra asked her for not letting me know. Even though it was a little too late, she had told me about that.

"Hey." Moorah walked in without knocking. Was it her habit of going into other people's rooms without knocking, huh?

I exhaled, "What are you here for?"

"Oh God, you're so rude." She walked over just to sit beside me.

"I swear if you wanted to ask about Jake again, I would kill you." I got tired of hearing her trailing me with all the questions about Jake.

"No, I don't want-" She gasped, "Actually yes, I want to ask about him." She smiled tenderly.

She definitely lost her mind. Last time I checked she wasn't deaf. I shook my head before getting up from my place, but she stopped me. "I can help you find the person who has your videotape."

My body stopped at once, frozen, "What?" I looked at her.

"Are you deaf?" Her question should've been for herself.

"How do you know?" I gripped her shoulders.

"Chill! You're hurting my shoulders." She let go of my grip in rough way, "Your mother informed dad." She stood right in front of me, "And I heard it." She sighed, "I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I overheard it."

My mother told my father abou this? "Then what did daddy say?" I asked curiously.

"He didn't want to interfere in your troubles."

I had guessed the answer but why did I still hope that he cared for me? It was a big problem for me, he shouldn't have act like that.

"I know your relationship with him has never been good, I'm sorry, but he really doesn't care about you anymore. He's ashamed to admit you as his daughter." Her statement sounded painful but it was the truth. That was the fact.

I started to feel the pain from Jazzlin's deepest heart. My defenses collapsed at this painful words. I didn't expect that a father figure who used to love his daughter so much, turned into one of the people who was hating her the most.

"He doesn't care. He never did." I said in raw voice, reminding myself.

"You can't blame him for what you've done."

My disappointment and pain became a mounting anger. Without thinking I pushed her harshly until she screamed in pain as her ass landed right on the floor.

"Are you crazy?" She cursed.

I didn't know what Jazzlin had done, but it didn't mean everyone could just hate her for what she had done without telling her.

Sometimes humans don't know what they have done that might hurt someone.

"Tell me what I did wrong?" I yelled with my voice increasingly shrill filled my room. "Am I not worthy of being loved? To be loved? Especially with the people closest to me? My own family hates me!"

If only I knew what Jazzlin was up to! Maybe I could fix everything.

"I don't know either, he never told anyone." Moorah's eyes radiated sympathy, seeing my uncertain state, "But for your videotape problem, maybe I can help." She stood up, still stroking her ass.

"No need." I refused, "Barra will handle it anyways." I sat down on the edge of the bed and stared at the floor.

"How long do you want to count on him? When he was no longer able to always be there for you, you would become nothing without him." Her eyes stared at me full of judgment before sitting next to me.

I looked away from her gaze. Was I nothing without Barra? So, all she had in mind was me as a weak woman?

"It'll be better if you counting on yourself." She continued her speech.

I hated to admit it, but she was true, "Just say what's in return if you help me?" I got to the point.

I couldn't believe myself. How could I work with the person, Jazzlin hated the most in her entire life? This woman was a dangerous poisonous snake, then why did my little heart trusted her in this case?

She let her breath out quickly in relief, "Finally. It's easy, I just want to know about Jake." Moorah said, genuinely happy.

She'd only met Jake once, and that guy had this woman bent her knees for him?

I didn't want further pleasantries, "I'm all ears."

Moorah told me what happened after eavesdropping on my father and mother's conversation over the phone, she immediately paid someone to find out about this case. How shocked I was when she said that the man who had my video me was actually Moorah's ex-boyfriend.

"What's his name?" I asked more curiously.

She gulped then turned to me, "Zohran."

Wait a minute, I recognized this name. Fucking hell! He was the man who gave me and Barra a lift that night. He was such a nice guy.

I got a feeling he was the same man. I never thought he was the mastermind behind my videotape.

That meant he saw what was going on there without helping me one bit? Wow, it felt like someone kicked me into the abyss.

I was sure her face was roaming my face, tried to find out what was in my head, "You know him too?" Moorah waved her hand in front of me when I didn't response her question.

How could he do this to me?! I never expected things to happen like this, "What's his full name?"

Could it be the same man?

"I don't really know, because after the break up, there was a lot of news circulating that Zohran was not even his real name. I think Mr. Salvatore's behind it all."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked as I didn't understand what that meant. Why did this has something to do with Mr. Salvatore?

"Hey! You should answer my first question." She growled as her expression a mixture of annoyance, "Do you know him?" She once again asked the same question.

I rolled my eyes, "Fine, fine. I knew him as a waiter at a fast food restaurant."

"I see." She said through clenched teeth, "He likes to change his identity just like his profession. When he was dating me he claimed to be a businessman."

My eyes bulged, "Wait, what? That's so crazy."
