Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Max frowned. He didn't expect this news." Termination of… our contract? Is that real? Duke didn't even tell me anything."

"He will tell you after arriving in the Capital. It's look like Cadia's problem was solved, and the Emperor want to give him another task. My father said that he needs my help. This is a perfect opportunity for me to prepare for becoming his heir." She said while crossing her arms.

Cecilia looks so serious. Because she realized that the title can give her more power to help people surround her.

But, it's too early and she need some preparations.

"Wait, I don't get it. Why Emperor didn't ask one of his minister? Your father isn't his dog."

"Don't be rude, Max. As a part of the Empire's citizen, it's our task to serve the Emperor." Cecilia said with concern look.

If someone knew his word, he sure will be punished in jail because of showing disloyalty or for disobedience toward empire.

Max put his hand under the chin, "Tsk!"

"I know it's so disappointing. The island still developing, and I want to watch it's growth with my own eyes. That's why I negotiated it with my father. To left the island after everything is settled."

But, Max already drowned in his mind. Duke isn't the man who can easily convince without a solid argument. The worst possibilities are they can't meet again before he confessed his feeling.

"I think we should go back to Miss Kaleela's house." Cecilia said.

"Yeah." Max answered without showing any interest.

"Hugo, please keep me updated about the progress of the school development."

"Yes, Young Miss. Please have a safe trip."

Max flinched. A slight of hope come to his heart. Of course, he can meet her. The school project is ongoing and Cecilia will keep in touch with Hugo.

But, he still needs to hurry before Cecilia 'engaged' in political marriage. Next year, she will be sixteen and do her first debutante to officially introduce herself in nobles society.

Or, in other words, it's a marriage market.

As a part of a powerful family, she will receive countless proposal from nobles family. He needs to--,

"Max? Are you okay?"

Cecilia's gentle voice make him blinked, "Oh, I'm sorry. I feel a bit dizzy."

"Really?" She put her hand to his forehead. "Fortunately, you didn't get a fever. Should we go to the doctor?"

Max closed his eyes to focused on her touch. But later, he shook the head to let her hand go. Because he felt like a pervert. "Nope. Let's go."

Several seconds later, they see Kaleela who drink a cup of a tea in the living room.

Suddenly, Max bowed deeply and said, "It's an honor for me to be able to see your presence, Marchioness Hagrav, Lady Kaleela Lancia."

But, the red-headed woman didn't respond to his joke and still drinking her tea.

Cecilia elbowed him, "Max! Please behave."

"Just Cecilia, can I have a minute? Let's talk in the dining room. Just two of us."

Max and Cecilia traded a glance before she nodded.

"Then, I will wait here, Chili. Call my name if the Marchioness want to hurt you."

Cecilia sighed and shook her head before she follows her soon-to-be aunt.

"What happened, Miss? Uncle said that you aren't feeling well." Cecilia asked after she takes a seat on the room.

"Thank you for the necklace, I really like it."

"Something happened, right? It's weird to see you so quiet like this." Cecilia asked when she noticed her darkened expression.

"No. Everything is fine. I just feel tired." She said while massaging her temple. "I heard something interesting today. Golden flower, isn't it?"

"Hmm, yeah. Uncle will plant it."

Kaleela then look around before she approached her interlocutor and start whispering, "It is smell so good at night."

"What do you mean?" Cecilia asked and she looks so confused.

"Just came at the night when it blooms. You can go with that masked boy."

"I don't understand."

Kaleela raised from her chair, "I will take some rest — now. Please tell your boyfriend to not act like a clown."

"Why? I think he is right. You are going to be Marchioness, Auntie." Cecilia grinned.

Kaleela rolled her eyes and let out a heavy sighed. "Not you too, Kiddo. Then, I have to go. Please don't forget about it, Just Cecilia."

"A friend in Capital? Are you sure?" Baron Ambrose narrowed his brows when his daughter packing her clothes in her room.

Havana smiled widely. Her face looks so bright after she used a face mask made from honey, last night. "A carriage from Silver Family will pick me up, a week before the banquet. But, it's better for me to prepare anything."

However, her father look worried and his finger fidgeting nervously. "Havana, why don't you just stay? Our island still busy to develop the resort. Besides, you didn't get any invitation, right?"

The blue-eyed girl pouted, "I refused, Papa. This is what I've been dreamed of! Honestly, everything about this island make me sick!"

Baron's eyes as widen as saucer. His tone raised because of anger, "Havana! How could you say something bad to this ancestor island!"

"I don't care! I want to join an elegant tea party, wearing a luxurious dress and living in comfortable life! You never gave me anything except misery!"

"Havana!"

She stopped her movement. Suddenly, her expression became ugly. "Get. Out. From. My. Room. Now!"

"You! How dare you?! If only you have a half of Miss Lancia's wisdom--,"

Havana snapped and push her father until he almost stumbled." Get out!"

Before Baron can answer, she slams the door in front of him and locked it. Prevent him to enter.

"You already blinded by the greed. Someday, you will regret this, Havana!"

But, she didn't reply and start to packing her thing. "You are wrong, Papa." She murmured. Her body trembled because of rage. "I will regret it for my whole life if I didn't go."
