Chapter 58: Chapter 58

"It can't be helped, then." Baron Ambrose scratching his head. "I hope everything is going to be okay."

Mary nodded twice. "Don't worry. Young Miss will back in the time, and she will send the instruction by letter."

"That's relief, though. I can't imagine what could happen without Young Miss."

Havana, who unconsciously hiding behind the wall across the corridor, heard the whole conversation about Lady Lancia's business trip to Hagrav with her uncle for several days.

"Did she ate the cookies?" Havana murmured to herself. She bit her nail and wondering if she needs to report this matter to Aileen.

But she chose to keep this matter as a secret. She feels it would be better not to lose Aileen's trust.

No matter what happen, she needs to come in Emperor's banquet and marry one of the nobles in Capital to escape from this stupid island.

In very quick movement, she's going back to her room and check the small blue bottle in her drawer. It still has the remaining of the potion's powder.

The banquet will be held in three weeks later. Because Cecilia only go for several days, so she still has a hope.

When she put the bottle back in the drawer, the ruby's brooch from Aileen laying there. Shining so bright and vibrant.

"Then, I have to find the dress which suitable with this brooch. Hmm, wait a minute."

She opened her wardrobe but found nothing interesting in there. All of her dress were old-fashioned.

"This is bad. I need to go to the tailor. But can they manage to make in time? Oh, No! Of course, they have to. I am the daughter of the most powerful man on this island!"

Havana grab her purse and hurry to leave the room.

Failed to notice that Grant was hiding on the shadow.

"But, are you sure about this?" Cecilia's hand trembling after read Kaleela's report about the culprit.

It was so different with Max's calm reaction. "I already know who's the one behind this nasty accident. But, I can't prove it because we lack the evidence. I hate to admit, but you are doing a good job."

Kaleela shrugged, "It's so weird to heard your compliment, Masked Man."

"Th-then, we will do this plan?" Cecilia asked while she massaged her temple.

"We need to punish the bad guy, Just Cecilia. They want to kill you."

"But, Miss Kaleela, I think they must be having a reason, and we need to hear that."

The red-headed woman staring at her interlocutor, "Unlike your arrogant father, you are just a soft, weak girl with some inferiority problem."

"It's not like that. But, I think we should see something in both sides to understand each other."

Suddenly, she laughs so hard until her ruby eyes moisten, "You are so naive and funny, Just Cecilia. Why don't you try to become a comedian than noble lady?"

Max snapped when he noticed her sharp voice, "Stop it, Witch!"

"Or what, Pretty Boy?" She crossed her arm with annoyed face.

Just when Max reached out his dagger, Cecilia stands up between them, "Wait a minute, we shouldn't fight each other! Aren't we friend?"

"Friend?" Kaleela snort harshly. "Seem you are misunderstanding this situation, Miss Lancia. I'm doing this because I want to kick you out of here. I need some privacy and personal space too.

And one more advice for a goody two shoes like you. Remember, not every problem can be solved with your lavish word. Sometime, you need to fight it with your blood, sweat and tear."

A thick, heavy air wrapped surround them. When Max finally drew his dagger, Kaleela clicked her tongue before disappeared to the black portal.

"That troublesome witch! Don't listen to her, Chili. Just do what you want to do."

She smiled faintly. Not sure what to say. However, Cecilia thinks that Kaleela's opinion isn't wrong. But, still. She wants to avoid the bloodshed as good as she can.

No matter what she does, the black cloud must be watching her. So, she needs to be careful.

"Chili? Why did you smile like that?"

"Ah, pardon me. But, Kaleela give me some ideas. Let's stick to the original plan. The only thing we need to change is the punishment."

"You want to spare them?" Max asked in disbelief.

"No. But, there are so many things that worse than death. I just want to make them regret and not repeat the same mistake."

Max slightly tilted his head. Not sure why her expression became sad and gloomy. "Chili, are you okay?"

She sighed softly. No matter what, Cecilia is the only daughter from the most powerful family noble, just one level under the royal's family. Jealousy, really, can kill.

Maybe this is why the original Cecilia has a ruthless personality. It's simply because of her defense mechanism to protect herself and her pride as a part of Lancia's family, too.

Ji Eun feels like she can understand the original Cecilia's feeling. Even it just for a bit.

Truly, became Duke's daughter, isn't easy. "No, I think I won't be okay anymore."

"It's been a while to see you smoking like this." Grant said when he meet Kaleela on the living room. Wrapped with white thick smoke from her cigarette

"Don't talk to me."

"Take this." He said while throw the small bottle. "You are right about this."

She catch the bottle with her right hand. After take a quick examination of it, she said, "This is the finest quality of Darute Metel. Not to mention, the most expensive one."

"Good thing, I already swapped it with the one you gave me."

Kaleela snickered, "It's so weird to see you acting like a dependable uncle."

"Am I?" He raised his eyebrow.

"I almost can't recognize you."

"Don't get the wrong idea, K. You are still my top priority, and I always want you. I'm doing this be--,"

"No need to be worked up, Grant." The white smoke is getting thicker, and he can't see Kaleela's face. "I know it."

"Then, can you stay and stop this stupid game? As you know, my niece and I still need you."

Kaleela smiled. Although she is unsure if Grant will see it, "Well, what if we place a bet?"

"A bet?" Grant flinched because he doesn't like that risky idea.

"Don't worry. Let's make a magic contract so no one would betray each other. The loser need to grant one wishes from the winner. Remember, just one."

"I refused. You know that I'm bad at things like this."

Kaleela exhaled. "Honestly, I'm tired of running away. Let's settle this matter for once and all. Besides, I want to test your theories about our relationship and your capability to rewrite the stars."

Grant sighed. There is something in her voice that make him obedient, unable to resist her for any longer.

If Kaleela told him the poison is honey, perhaps, he will believe it. "Okay. I accept your challenge."
