Chapter 57: Chapter 57
Aileen read the letter with a bright smile. After that, she threw the letter to the furnace.
"Too bad. We won't meet again, Lady Lancia." Aileen said while she watched the fire which greedily eat those letters.
She crossed her arms and relieved because everything is over. Now, after she kicked out the obstacle, her way to the throne will be going smoothly.
But, Aileen needs to do something as a final touch. Then, she takes the pen to write another letter.
To be the future Empress, she needs a strong pillar and tremendous support from the nobles. So, no one dare to mess her up.
A sly smile escape from her pinkish lip. "Now, the preparation is done."
--
Mary can't stop to raised her eyebrow while read the letter. "I can't believe this. Someone poisoned the Young Miss? But, why?"
Grant shrugged. "Just do what she wants, Mary. Don't ask another question."
"I apologize for my rudeness, Marquess Hagrav. But, after what happened in the past, I can't let my guard down."
"My job is delivery this letter. So, I don't care whether you believe it or not."
Mary rudely pull his arm, "Then, take me to Young Miss. Otherwise, I will tell the Duke that you are doing a bad thing again, Sir."
There is something burning in his gray eyes. It was so intimidating, almost made her stepped back and ran away.
"Fine." That answer make Mary feel relieve and take her hand off his arms.
Suddenly, the air surround her is heavy. Mary feel her body being disfigured or something. But a second later, Mary realized that she is in a small room filled with clear bottles of colorful liquid.
"Hello, Mary." Cecilia smiled faintly and her face as white as paper.
"Oh! Young Miss! Is that true? Someone really wanted to poison you? Why did they do that? What do you feel right now? Do you need something else?"
Mary asked those questions in just one breath and Cecilia don't know how to answer it. "W-well, it is just like I wrote to you."
"Poor you, Young Miss. I thought Marquess Hagrav doing something bad again."
Grant snapped, "Hey! I can hear that!"
Cecilia laughed softly, "Don't worry, Mary. My uncle is the one who saved me, and he helped me to investigate this matter. I'm so thankful that you are worried about me."
"Miss, you are my employer. I'm the one who served you until I die."
"Thank you, Mary." She said with moist eyes. "Oh, I want to introduce you to someone. He is Max, a bodyguard who hired by my father."
Mary's head turned back, and her jaw dropped when she saw a tall man. A crow mask cover half of his face. His aura is more intimidate than Grant.
Without apparent reason, Mary's leg trembled with fear, and she couldn't greet him properly, "H-hello, Si, Sir. My na-name--,"
Max shrugged, "It's okay. I know you. As the servant of Lady Lancia, I hope we can get along."
"Y-yes, Sir!"
"We should go back now, Mary."
Grant said while he crossed his arm and sour face.
"Miss! If you need anything, please tell me, okay?"
Cecilia nodded, "Thank you for your hard work, Mary."
Her servant smiled brightly and a second later, she already disappeared as if it was just a dream.
"She looked like a scared rabbit." Max said while sit on the chair. Then he gives her a bottle full red sauce.
"Is this kimchi? How did you get this?" She exclaimed excitedly. Her cheeks blushed gently. "Thank you."
"Dandelion Town. I heard something interesting. They said that a young woman from Lancia's family kindly shared this recipe."
"Oh, is it Adrian's? He is the chef of the restaurant. His foods are so delicious."
"Well, I don't know. His restaurant is so full and packed for this week and his bottled pickled was sold like crazy.
Everyone in that city tried the same. But, even using the same method and ingredient, Adrian's pickled taste more delicious."
"No wonder. He is talented in cooking." Cecilia said while she's staring at the bottle. She can't wait to eat this cabbage kimchi.
Max smiled and look at her face with gently gaze. He doesn't know if he was dreaming or anything, but there is something bright wrapped to her body. As if it was a halo.
"Max?"
"Yes?"
"Can we go to the Dandelion Town? After this case solved, I want to treat you with something delicious!"
"Oh? Of course!"
Cecilia's smile look so radiant and almost make him blind." Great. I will ask Miss Kaleela and Uncle Grant too. They helped me a lot."
Max's jaw dropped before he rolled his eyes. "You must be forgetting about their feud."
"Oh, you are right. Thank you for reminding me, Max. Then, I will cook something for them."
"Just focus on your health, Chilly."
Cecilia pouted. "You are stricter than Lancia's doctors. Oh, anyway, did Hugo say something?"
"Yes. He said that everything is going smoothly. Your perverted friend helps that project by introduced several talented persons."
"Ah, I can't wait to see the school!"
"Hey, where did you get the funds? I mean for the school and anything. Duke seems unaware about this, so he can't be behind it."
"It's a secret between me and Hugo." She said with a playful smile.
"It's unfair! Why did you exclude me from this matter?" He snapped and pouted.
"Well, you will be angry if I tell you this."
Max raised his eyebrow. "No, I won't. How come I can get angry at you?"
"Promise?" She stretch out her pinky finger to him.
Max take her pinky finger with his. "Yes."
Cecilia scratched her cheek, "Well. You already promised. We are gambling."
"What? Pardon me? Gambling?"
"Well, technically Hugo was the one who gambling. I only gave him money. But, he has an outstanding skill at gamble and manage to get twice amount from the original money."
Max clenched his jaw, "I need to go now."
But, Cecilia hold his hand before he disappears. "Wait! You promised that you won't be angry!"
"I'm not angry to you. But, Hugo."
"But, he just did it once. Because he can't leave his office for a long time."
"Still, he broke the rule. Scorpion's member can't gamble on their work hour."
Cecilia hold his hand tightly with wet eyes. "I'm sorry this is my fault. Hugo doing this because he wanted to help me. He doesn't like my idea to sell my jewel."
"You sold it? Why? Jewel is the most important thing for noble."
Cecilia tilted her head and wrinkled her forehead. "But, I don't need it. Besides, my collection is too much."
Max sighed when heard this. "Have I told you that you are the weirdest noble I ever see? Fine, I'll pretend that I don't know this."
"Really?"
"With one condition. You--,"
"Ahem!" Kaleela cleared her throat. She is already on the room door.
"Did I interrupt something?"
"Miss Kaleela? Welcome home!"
Max clicked his tongue and feeling irritated because Kaleela cut his word for the second times.
"I have some good news." She said while showing a brown paper. "I found the culprit and their nasty plans."
