Chapter 1628: Chapter 1628
"Wow, I really thought this was going to be some sort of epic, long battle, but it ended so quickly!" Emeraldine said.
"Well, they were dumb enough to settle down next to the dam. How didn't they ever guess something could happen?" Maria wondered, sighing. "Ah, don't worry, here he comes."
An explosion of crimson flames and dark energies erupted from the lake. A ten-meter-tall muscular young man emerged, with long black hair and crimson eyes.
His white-skinned body was covered in glowing red runes, enhancing his muscles to immense levels.
His right hand carried a long sword, and his left hand a huge shield.
Spartan Armor quickly materialized out of thin air, covering most of his body. It made him look like an intimidating god as his Aura overflowed. The lake beneath him evaporated into steam.
"WHO DARES CHALLENGE THE GREAT PHOBOS?!"
He was furious. His eyes glowed bright red underneath his golden helmet as his Aura shook. Large crimson gates opened, bringing forth hundreds of golem-like Trojan soldiers, giant Trojan horse golems, giants carrying armor and weapons, and even cannons loaded with huge glowing crystals.
"Me, it's me," Maria said, waving her hand. "So you're Phobos, huh? I guess you do fit the whole Greco-Roman man aesthetic. You're a little handsome, I give you that."
He was too serious to understand Maria's jokes, so she decided to take things as seriously as he did.
"We've come to free the people you've tormented here, Phobos. I can't believe you thought this was the right thing to do! The lake's water is now ruined all thanks to you. Why didn't you just negotiate with the people instead?"
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO LECTURE ME?! MY MOTHER?! KILL HER! KILL EVERYONE WITH HER!"
Maria tried to talk things out first, but the War God wouldn't listen. The army he summoned rushed toward Maria's family through the skies. Even the heavy-looking Trojan Soldiers could fly, using blazing propulsors on their metallic soles.
The Trojan Soldiers roared, raising their golden spears and pushing their shields forward. They created a classical Spartan formation as their Auras flowed and combined into a single divine force.
"{War Formation Tactics: Charging Blazing Bull}!"
Suddenly, Maria and her family watched in awe as their Aura turned into a giant blazing bull charging toward them. The armies Phobos summoned each had at least fifty soldiers. Currently, five independent armies came at them from different angles, all using the same technique.
Phobos was a God of War. Like his father, he was a powerful warrior and strategist. His army was incredibly well coordinated, charging Maria and her family without wasting a second.
Maria quickly spread her shadows. Hundreds of Undead surged out of nowhere, charging toward the Trojans en masse.
Explosive clashes echoed through the sky-bound battlefield. Maria watched in disbelief as over half her troops were skewered and defeated by the powerful charge. Undead were torn apart and flew into pieces. Even the Hive Insectoids weren't spared. Most were impaled, then had their shells destroyed.
The giants and horses behind them also served a purpose. They pointed massive cannons and fired large red jewel cannonballs, generating explosions of dark red flames that burned her Undead to ashes.
"Did you think your little army of Undead would compare to my great Trojan Army?! My Divinity boosts their power tremendously! You should never have tried to get in my way, filthy necromancer!"
"Hm~ Well, I do have a divinity for death too."
Maria's Aura spread out. The Undead emerging from her shadows gained buffs to their stats. She used her telepathic abilities to command them better, making them evade direct hits, dodge blows, and surprise the soldiers from the sides or below.
She didn't rely on her Anubis Transformation or Death Fog to keep her Undead Army alive. She commanded them through her thoughts, surprising Phobos. Dıscover more novels at ⓝovelFire.net
Though his army remained powerful, Maria's slowly gained a small advantage. Both armies clashed, and evening the field as time passed.
"I can always bring more...!"
Phobos didn't seem like the type to save his energies or resources. He opened three more crimson gates. Even more soldiers rushed out, clashing against Maria's Undead without stopping.
"Looks like we'll have to step in now," Lucifer said. "Fine, I was looking forward to some battle anyway! This Phobos guy, are you going to fight him too, Maria?"
"I should. I promised the Elder I would free them from him," Maria nodded. "Can't sit down and do nothing. I'm leaving his army to you then!"
As Maria flew off, her family joined the battle. Lucifer rushed into the battlefield, unleashing destructive slicing attacks with his scythe. Waves of white void flames consumed his foes.
Partner laughed, leaping into battle and dancing around the skies. She used her bat-like wings to maneuver easily while her spears impaled dozens of foes at once. Pieces of metal and shattered soul fragments covered the sky wherever she went.
Nyx turned into a giant dragon. Her black scaled dragon form surprised Melianna, who didn't believe it at first. Nyx crashed into a giant horse and destroyed it with her jaws, then jumped into a giant, and then another.
Emeraldine stayed far behind with a few group members, shooting dozens of arrows with her magic bow. She divided those arrows into hundreds, piercing soldiers from above and making them explode with ease.
Alma looked at the water below. After Celes nodded at her idea, both combined their powers. They shook the lake beneath and manipulated it into dozens of ocean serpents that hissed and attacked the Trojan Army, devastating them.
Nia stepped forward, surrounded and attacked by dozens of soldiers from every angle. She used her thunderous spear and wind magic to unleash rapid piercing strikes. The power of her Zodiac Beast made her tornadoes and thunderstorms even more lethal.
Arthur fought not far from her with his special Yin and Yang spear. Explosions of light and darkness erupted whenever he swung his weapon. He turned into shadows to evade or into light to move quickly and surprise foes, practicing and mastering his abilities.
Jonathan watched over the boy, feeling responsible for him. He swung his great sword, cutting through entire armies with powerful slashing waves of holy light.
Lastly, Arachne jumped into the chaos and started stomping everything she found. She ate soldiers whole and found them rather crunchy, though flavorless.
Ferleen and Melianna stayed next to Emeraldine. They used their power over Nature and Spirits to create Spiritual Windstorms, Thunderbolts, Icicle Rains, Blazing Fireballs, and more. They didn't specialize in any element and had learned various spells to survive most situations.
"Just who are these monsters?! Every single one seems powerful! Those fox kids are the only weak ones... I had not heard reports from my siblings, my father, or anybody from Olympus about them! They just showed up?! This is-"
Phobos was caught off-guard. A giant fist of shadows, moonlight, and void struck his body with immense force. It sent him flying down, crashing into the lake like a blazing meteor!
The water rapidly evaporated around him and shook away, revealing the angered Phobos at the lake bottom. His helmet was cracked, and his mouth and nose bled. He glared at Maria with furious wrath.
"You dare...! Punch me in the face?! I WILL SHOW YOU TRUE FEAR!"
With a furious roar, the War God leaped into the skies. It generated a loud tremor across Lakevale as the ground beneath him shattered, leaving a blazing crater.
His golden spear blazed with divine flames. It reached Maria and struck her with almighty divine force. A shockwave of divine energy and flames erupted on contact.
Maria intercepted his attack easily, blocking his spear with her sword. She swung her halberd down. An explosion of moonlight, darkness, and void energies blew through the War God's shoulder, destroying his armor.
Phobos counterattacked quickly, kicking Maria's stomach with all his force and pushing her away. He rushed back to her. His divine aura surged, resembling an army of hundreds of Spartan warriors.
His spear attack came with dozens of mirrored strikes, overwhelming Maria with consecutive piercing blows. They began to wear down her void barrier.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
