Chapter 75: Chapter 75

Elias Sinclair noticed Quinn Lockwood seemed a bit slow to respond and directly pressed her ankle; he had noticed earlier it seemed she had twisted it.

The pain spread throughout her body, snapping Quinn back to her senses, and she couldn’t help but gasp from the discomfort.

Seeing this, Elias immediately picked her up and carried her to the car.

After gently placing Quinn in the back seat, Elias spoke in a deep voice, "I’ll take you to the hospital," then proceeded to start the engine.

Upon hearing this, Quinn promptly refused, "I can’t go to the hospital, please take me back to the Lowell Family, thank you."

She was already a topic of conversation, going to the hospital would only make matters worse, especially if the paparazzi caught wind, which would be hard to explain.

Elias appeared to understand her thoughts; he squinted, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, delaying starting the car, seemingly deep in thought.

Quinn looked at him in confusion, unsure of his thoughts, assuming he might be unwilling to drive her, so she spoke, "If it’s inconvenient, I can drive myself back."

Upon hearing this, Elias suddenly felt some anger; he stepped out of the car, retrieved something from the trunk, then opened the backseat door and got back in.

"What are you doing?"

Quinn instinctively backed away defensively, not knowing what he intended, yet feeling somewhat uncomfortable, especially considering their relationship...

Elias didn’t answer, directly taking hold of Quinn’s foot, pulling out a first aid kit he often kept in the car to treat her injury.

"What are you doing?"

Quinn defensively tried to pull her foot back again.

Elias seemed quite put off by Quinn’s disobedience; he firmly grasped her foot and gently wiped it with iodine.

The moment the iodine met her skin, Quinn instinctively recoiled at the stinging pain.

"If you want your skin to rot, go ahead and move."

Elias threatened in a deep voice; her ankle had several abrasions, compounded by getting drenched in rain; without timely treatment, it could get infected.

Hearing this, whether due to Elias’s commanding tone or genuine fear of infection, Quinn gradually quieted down and stopped resisting.

Soon, Elias silently finished applying the medicine, "All done."

"Thank you." Quinn thanked him quietly, slowly drawing her foot back, feeling a bit embarrassed facing Elias.

She had never imagined that such a cold person would be capable of such attentiveness, especially towards her.

"Just lending a hand." Elias didn’t say more, immediately started the car, heading towards the Lowell Family home as instructed by Quinn. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ NovelHub(.)net

From time to time, he’d glance at Quinn through the mirror; due to the pain, her face appeared somewhat pale.

He didn’t understand why he felt nervous seeing Quinn collapse or why he went out of his way to offer her aid.

Outside, the rain continued to fall, tapping rhythmically against the window as if they had buried all their feelings in the storm.

Upon arrival at the Lowells’, due to Quinn’s injured foot, Elias carried her inside.

Cameron Grant watched them in shock, his jaw nearly dropping, "What happened?"

He approached, pointing at Quinn cradled in Elias’s arms.

Elias ignored the question, directly carried Quinn towards her room; only then did Cameron notice her swollen ankle and quickly followed with concern.

Leaned against Elias’s embrace, Quinn could hear his steady heartbeat, the warmth soothingly reaching her, giving her a sense of comfort and the urge to rely on him.

Perhaps feeling vulnerable due to her injury, she subconsciously wanted to snuggle closer to Elias’s warmth.

However, she suddenly stiffened, snapping back to reality; Elias disliked her, how could she harbor such thoughts?

Thinking this, Quinn involuntarily shrank back.

Sensing the change, Elias paused momentarily, then resumed his stride.

In Quinn’s room, he carefully laid her down on her bed.

"What happened to Savannah?" Cameron asked worriedly, stepping forward.

"She twisted her ankle; I’ve already disinfected it. Later, apply a cold pack; during this period, avoid getting it wet."

Elias spoke in a deep voice, his expression calm, seemingly not wanting to reveal any emotions in front of Cameron.

"Twisted ankle, Savannah, how can you be so careless?"

Upon hearing this, Cameron immediately fetched an ice pack from the fridge, worriedly sitting beside Quinn, preparing to apply it to her ankle.

"I’m... fine, slipped in the rain."

Quinn embarrassedly drew her foot back, taking the ice pack from Cameron to apply it herself.

For some reason, she suddenly felt, maybe she wasn’t so resistant to Elias just now.

"In rainy weather, always be cautious; don’t wear high heels when the weather’s bad next time."

Cameron glanced at her other foot, which had just taken off high heels, his brow furrowed; with her having an accident, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell would certainly worry.

Amid the small talk between Cameron and Quinn, Elias had already quietly left.

"You rest well; call me if you need anything."

After a while, sensing Elias’s departure, Cameron got up, tucked Quinn in, gave a few more words of advice, then turned to leave.

Staring at the closed door, Quinn found herself sitting up, touching her bandaged ankle, lost in thought.

After Cameron left, Elias was preparing to exit the hall; Cameron quickly caught up, "Elias."

Upon hearing this, Elias stopped, turning back to look questioningly at Cameron who hurriedly approached.

"Why did you do that?" Cameron asked, puzzled, from the moment he saw Elias carrying Quinn through the door, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Elias wasn’t the type to spread kindness indiscriminately. He had always seemed to dislike Quinn intensely, could it be the reports were true?

Elias feigned indifference, not wanting Cameron to detect anything.

"You actually carried Savannah back, haven’t you always been resistant to her?"

Cameron examined him with a smile, already having come to his conclusion.

Elias awkwardly cleared his throat twice, his eyes devoid of any emotion, a question he wanted to ask himself.

"She fell and couldn’t walk, did you expect her to walk herself in?"

Elias coldly replied, skipping Cameron’s latter question, his words not hinting at any particular sentiment.

Upon hearing this, Cameron shrugged; despite their stubbornly strong wills, even if he probed further, they’d likely not admit anything.
