Chapter 74: Chapter 74

Elias Sinclair snorted coldly in his heart, clearly knowing she was lying. But given the situation, it didn’t matter much. However, Freya Caldwell’s mention of Preston Caldwell pulling out investments reminded him of something.

"Did you instigate the withdrawal?"

Elias’s displeasure was evident, his face growing colder. Although he understood the reason behind it, he still wanted to ask in person.

That way, the rejection would be more convincing.

"Yeah, isn’t it related to you? How should I know whether you and her are real or not?"

Freya curled her lip disdainfully; everything she did was for Elias Sinclair.

Upon Freya’s admission, Elias immediately picked up his phone and called Quinn Lockwood’s agency.

"I heard the Caldwell Group pulled their investment from Savannah Lowell’s new show. Our Sinclair Group’s interests will inevitably be affected. How much funding is currently in deficit?" Elias asked seriously.

"Well... Five million."

Upon hearing this, there was a slight pause on the other end before a cautious response came, showing a hint of fear.

Since the Caldwell Group had already withdrawn, if the Sinclair Group also pulled out due to interest relations, it would be a huge blow to their company.

Facing Freya, Elias pondered for a moment, then said into the phone, "Sinclair Group will cover the missing five million."

Freya was stunned, unable to believe Elias would make such a decision. Typically in corporate operations, when one party withdraws, it inevitably causes losses to the partners. The safest approach would have been for the partner to also withdraw.

Yet now Elias was saying he would cover it all!

After hanging up the phone, Elias ignored Freya and left without hesitation.

Seeing this, Freya stomped her feet angrily and left the Sinclair Group.

After Freya left, Elias snapped back to reality and remembered Quinn’s words in the recording, frowning slightly.

Meanwhile, Quinn Lockwood and Anna had just returned to the agency from Freya Caldwell’s home, only to be informed by a colleague about Elias’s decision to invest in her new drama.

Anna looked at Quinn in confusion. They’d been together all the time; Quinn had no chance to ask Elias for help. Could Elias have made this decision on his own?

Thinking of this, Anna was shocked.

This was impossible, Quinn’s mind was filled with suspicion. Even before responding to Anna, she turned around and ran out.

She wanted to find Elias Sinclair and get to the bottom of his intentions.

Arriving at the Sinclair Group, Elias was just in the lobby, seemingly about to leave to handle business. Quinn walked straight over and blocked him.

"What are you playing at?"

Quinn stared Elias straight in his eyes and questioned, but after speaking, she glanced around to ensure that no one would recognize her and spread bad rumors.

"Sinclair Group employees aren’t gossipers."

Perhaps noticing Quinn’s concerns, Elias spoke in a deep voice.

Outside, he couldn’t guarantee, but within Sinclair Group, no employee dared to gossip about him. If anyone saw this scene, they’d never spread it.

Quinn frowned. How did this man know what she was thinking?

But now there was something more important. She didn’t have time to think much, asking again, "Why would you invest in my new drama?"

She wouldn’t narcissistically believe that Elias was compensating her because Freya was jealous.

"To make money." Elias responded indifferently, his gaze detached, as if he really decided to invest more in projects for profit.

"So many projects, why choose to invest in my drama right now?" Quinn was skeptical; since he said it was for profit, she followed his lead.

"Film and television industry is developing rapidly, why not invest?" Elias raised an eyebrow, actually to hide his guilty conscience.

But to Quinn, it felt like Elias was implying it was none of her business which projects he invested in.

At this moment, Quinn looked at Elias with a suspicious eye. Because she urgently wanted to know the answer, she unconsciously stood tip-toe closer to Elias.

Quinn’s unexpected action made Elias’s heart unexpectedly race; perhaps he was startled by her sudden move.

The air suddenly took on a peculiar atmosphere. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ novelꜰire.net

After a while, Quinn clearly saw herself reflected in Elias’s pupils, realizing she was somewhat overly excited. She distanced herself from Elias.

"No matter your purpose, investing in my drama now is bound to cause misunderstandings outside. Then, it’ll be harder for us to clarify."

Quinn expressed her concerns, unwilling to be misunderstood further.

"Shouldn’t you be thanking me?"

No matter how you cut it, Elias had helped her out; this was her way of expressing gratitude? Elias frowned displeased.

He kept staring at Quinn, realizing sometime ago she seemed to start handling matters herself.

Hearing this, Quinn was at a loss for words, feeling goosebumps as Elias kept staring at her. What he said might be blunt but not entirely unreasonable.

Though his approach would lead to a series of issues, and who knows what his intentions truly were, no matter the case he did assist her.

"Forget it, talking more is pointless." After speaking, Quinn turned and left.

Actually, she was afraid of not knowing how to properly thank Elias if what he said was true.

Outside the Sinclair Group, rain was dripping down. Unknowingly, it had started to rain, thick fog enveloping the ground. Quinn sighed at the gloomy weather.

This weather matched her mood; she was already feeling down, was it intentionally pouring salt on her wounds?

The rain gradually intensified, and Quinn couldn’t linger under the Sinclair Group building for long. She glanced at the sky and then at her car parked nearby, using her bag to cover her head as she ran.

Not reaching her car yet, Quinn exclaimed, her body leaning backward.

The slippery road in the rain and her heels inevitably caused her to fall.

Elias, just out of the company, saw this scene, his heart jolted, and rushed over without thinking.

However, due to the distance, he was too late. Just as he was about to grab Quinn, she fell directly to the ground.

Quinn winced in pain checking her foot, although only slightly swollen on the surface, internally she felt a tendon pulling pain, making her unable to move.

"Are you okay?" Elias crouched down to ask, his tone evidently worried.

Quinn looked up at the person in front, rain dripping down his hair and slowly sliding down his cheeks. Elias furrowed his brow as he looked at Quinn, making her heart beat stronger than ever.

People rushed by to avoid the rain, at this point silence was louder, as if the world had only the two of them left.
