Chapter 71: Chapter 71
If I refuse now, it would indeed be disrespectful to Grandpa.
However, she suddenly thought of something and turned her head to ask, "When did Grandpa say I should return?"
"Tonight." Elias replied honestly, though somewhat perplexed.
"But tonight, Dylan already invited me to dinner."
Quinn inadvertently let it slip, glancing away regretfully, avoiding eye contact with Elias.
Actually, she didn’t know why this was; perhaps it was a natural reflex for Savannah Lowell’s body.
Upon hearing this, Elias felt a strange pang in his heart—dinner with Dylan, was it a date?
Yet he pretended not to care and said, "Whatever."
For some reason, he always disliked hearing about Quinn being with Dylan, but he told himself that perhaps when you dislike someone for so long, it just becomes that way.
Elias didn’t hold much hope about this, as Quinn had previously been quite firm in saying she wouldn’t return to the Sinclair Family, and now she had a chance for a date with someone else. How could she agree?
It looks like Grandpa’s hopes for tonight will be shattered again.
"I want to see Grandpa, so I won’t be going there for now." Just as Elias was lost in thought, Quinn suddenly spoke up, indicating she would return to the Sinclair Family to have dinner with Grandpa.
After thinking it over, she realized Grandpa had taken good care of her before. Although she didn’t want to share a table with Elias, she couldn’t disregard Grandpa’s feelings.
Elias was momentarily stunned before getting into the car, not showing it, but inexplicably feeling relieved inside.
In the car, Quinn sent a message to Dylan, telling him she had something to attend to tonight and might have to break their appointment.
Upon receiving her message, Dylan felt disappointed, even though he didn’t know where Quinn was going.
Arriving at the Sinclair Family home, Quinn had just stepped inside when Grandpa Sinclair eagerly greeted her.
"Savannah, you girl, finally decided to come back." While speaking, he lightly tapped Quinn with his cane, feigning anger but actually very pleased.
"Grandpa, I’m sorry for leaving without a word and visiting you so late." Quinn looked at Grandpa, pouting in guilt.
"No matter, no matter, as long as you’re willing to return, I thought you’d forgotten about this old man."
Grandpa Sinclair waved his hand, but with a hint of disappointment in his words.
"Grandpa, how could I forget about you? I just don’t want to be in the same room as Elias, but toward you, I still hold respect and affection."
Quinn endearingly linked arms with Grandpa Sinclair.
Upon hearing this, Elias paused, clearly somewhat distracted.
Seeing Quinn reaffirm her stance towards Elias, Grandpa Sinclair immediately changed the subject, gesturing to the table full of dishes nearby, and said, "Let’s eat first; everything’s ready early, and all your favorites are here."
"Alright." Quinn smiled and sat down with Grandpa Sinclair.
"Elias, what are you standing there for, still dreaming? Come over to eat!"
Grandpa Sinclair noticed Elias spacing out and immediately called him over, signaling him to sit beside Quinn.
It’s unprecedented that Elias didn’t refuse and sat naturally next to Quinn.
Quinn focused solely on Grandpa Sinclair, completely oblivious; otherwise, she’d think Elias was feverish again.
Grandpa Sinclair assumed Quinn accepted this arrangement and was thoroughly pleased by their behavior.
As they ate, Quinn remembered Grandpa Sinclair had gone abroad for a health check-up and asked worriedly, "Grandpa, is your health better now?"
"Nothing serious, don’t worry. However, what I worry about most now is you and Elias."
Grandpa Sinclair said, glancing at Elias, knowing well about his health but couldn’t rest assured about his grandson.
Having been through it himself, although Savannah had shown extreme behavior towards Elias before, this convinced him she truly loved his grandson and didn’t want Elias to miss someone who loved him.
Quinn instinctively wanted to explain, gazing at Grandpa Sinclair passionately. He was old, and she didn’t want to make him sad.
After some thought, she held back, swallowing the words she wanted to say.
"Savannah, come taste this crawfish; it’s specially brought back from abroad." Grandpa Sinclair interrupted Quinn before she could speak, putting a crawfish into her bowl.
In truth, Grandpa Sinclair understood her meaning but refused to accept it, believing there’s still hope between her and Elias. Googlᴇ search n0velfire.net
"Thank you, Grandpa."
Quinn smiled and began eating, without any of Savannah’s previous reservations.
Elias inadvertently caught sight of this and felt inexplicably natural inside.
"Pretender," said Nina Sinclair, unable to hold back, rolling her eyes at Quinn.
Earlier, Grandpa Sinclair repeatedly told Nina to be polite to Quinn later, just to save Grandpa’s face.
Though Nina had always disliked Quinn, she didn’t want to upset Grandpa Sinclair, so she kept her emotions in check.
Yet, seeing Grandpa taking such care of Quinn, she felt a bit jealous; she was always the most favored in the family. Since Quinn arrived, Grandpa’s favor seemed more toward Quinn, stirring her jealousy.
"Nina!" Grandpa Sinclair exclaimed in chastisement, visibly displeased.
Watching Grandpa stand by Quinn, Nina angrily put down her utensils and returned to her room.
"Bang!" The door upstairs was slammed shut, and Grandpa Sinclair shook his head helplessly, smiling at Quinn, explaining for Nina, "That’s just her temperament."
"I know, it’s not on my mind." Quinn replied, reassuring Grandpa Sinclair, then continued eating. To her, Nina didn’t matter much.
Hearing this, Grandpa Sinclair felt relieved and smiled, suddenly remembering the main issue, "Savannah, since you said so, why not move back here? Without you, Nina’s always out, and the house feels rather empty."
Quinn paused, her actions halted briefly, but she quickly returned to her usual behavior, "Grandpa, I think things are pretty good as they are now; fewer conflicts, right?"
Although she had prepared herself to refuse Grandpa Sinclair before coming here, expressing certain words face-to-face was challenging.
Seeing this, Grandpa Sinclair refrained from saying more, having asked many times already as a senior; now it was up to his grandson to make an effort.
With this in mind, he cleared his throat, signaling to Elias.
Elias received the signal but didn’t react, pretending he was unaware.
