Chapter 319: Chapter 319

"For the people I like, my tenderness is the warmest sunshine in the world, but for those I don’t like, that tenderness is like a slow-acting poison, and one day it will bring her pain that penetrates deep into her bones."

Cameron Grant looked seriously at Quinn Lockwood.

His eyes were incredibly beautiful, like they held a sky full of stars, and at the same time carried the breeze and the bright moon, making anyone who glanced at them feel refreshed and relaxed.

His slightly cool hand rested on Quinn’s shoulder, and although Cameron’s charming eyes were not smiling, they were already carrying strands of gentle affection.

"Alright... okay." Quinn felt that her brother’s gaze was a bit off, and quickly turned her head to avoid Cameron’s eyes.

"I’m leaving, Savannah, take care of yourself." Cameron gently patted Quinn on the shoulder, affectionately tapped her nose, and then left the hospital.

Watching Cameron’s departing figure, Quinn raised her hand to touch her nose and couldn’t help but laugh self-deprecatingly.

She really was narcissistic now, actually thinking that Cameron liked her. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ N()velFire.net

Even though they weren’t related by blood, they had grown up under the same roof as brother and sister.

Thinking about some things that happened between her and Cameron, Quinn couldn’t help but sigh: Cameron truly was a very, very good brother.

Just as Quinn stepped out of the elevator, she accidentally bumped into a girl with a simple ponytail, looking somewhat pale.

"Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean it." Quinn quickly crouched down to pick up the book she had knocked over, apologetically speaking to the girl.

"It’s okay, it was my mistake too." The girl took the book with both hands and shook her head at Quinn, indicating she was fine.

"Are you... the female lead of ’Melancholic Reminiscence’?"

"Could you give me an autograph? I think you performed really well, just like the female lead in the original novel." The girl looked at Quinn closely, hesitated for two seconds before daring to confirm.

Quinn smiled and then nodded.

She hadn’t expected to be recognized for an autograph instead of being pointed at and discussed for her scandals when going out now.

As she wrote her name on the girl’s book and handed it back, Quinn inexplicably felt that this girl seemed familiar, like she had seen her somewhere before.

She worked hard to search her memory for any recollection of the female student.

Quinn suddenly remembered that this girl looked very much like the student who had been knocked down by Ariana a while ago.

When Ariana made the headlines for hitting someone, Quinn went to take a look and thought the post where Wanda criticized Ariana for lacking virtue was really well-written.

"Are you Wanda? The girl Ariana accidentally hit?" Quinn blinked and tentatively asked.

Upon hearing Ariana’s name, Wanda’s face immediately darkened.

"She didn’t accidentally hit me. At the time, I was right in the middle of the road, and she definitely saw me. But she just honked twice without any intention of slowing down."

"Ah? Is that so?" Quinn froze; she hadn’t expected Ariana to be so reckless, blatantly ignoring traffic laws in broad daylight.

"Wanda, what happened to you? Why are you in the hospital?" Quinn observed Wanda, noticing her sickly complexion and the hospital gown, and asked worriedly.

Wanda lowered her gaze, feeling a bit dejected: "I’ve had a weak heart since childhood. After being knocked down that day, I went to the hospital for wound care, and started feeling palpitations during the process, and then it worsened."

"Let me help you back. I didn’t know about your heart condition and ended up chatting for so long." Quinn stepped forward to support Wanda, apologetically speaking to her.

With Quinn’s assistance, Wanda walked toward the ward, saying, "Savannah, you’re really kind, unlike that Ariana; she’s just terrible, no wonder her popularity is dropping!"

Quinn tugged at the corner of her mouth, gently shaking her head.

Given the situation, even if she didn’t intervene, Ariana was bound to ruin her own career eventually.

After sending Wanda back to her ward, Quinn returned to the room where Nina Sinclair was resting.

"Nina, what are you doing?" As soon as Quinn entered, she saw Nina had packed all the doctor’s prescribed medicines.

"Going home, sis-in-law." Nina handed the bag to Quinn.

Quinn was a bit confused.

How come in just a short while she had been out, Nina was ready to be discharged?

"Let’s go, sis-in-law, why are you still standing there? We’re going home." Nina saw Quinn standing there in a daze and waved her hand in front of Quinn’s eyes a couple of times.

Quinn blinked, looking at Elias Sinclair with a questioning glance, and asked, "Is she ready to be discharged?"

The man nodded slightly, stepping forward to take the bag from Quinn’s hand, his voice as clear and pure as a spring: "Once the IV is finished, she’s ready to go. I asked the doctor, and he said there’s nothing to worry about."

Quinn nodded, but was still a bit worried about Nina’s health: "Nina, we should stay under observation at the hospital for a couple more days. Health issues can’t be ignored."

"No, I don’t like staying in the hospital. Sis-in-law, I’m fine now, you can rest assured."

"If you force me to stay in the hospital, I’ll definitely be bored to death." Nina pouted, looking aggrieved.

The hospital’s disinfectant smell was really unpleasant, and the space was small and stuffy; she truly couldn’t stand it.

Seeing Nina insist on going home, Quinn didn’t try to persuade her further; after all, Elias had already agreed, and there was Dr. Angus at home too.

Although he was in charge of the experimental group, he was also a young medical professor at the PhD mentor level, so there wouldn’t be any major issues.

"Let’s go." Elias carried the medicine bag and drove Nina and Quinn home to rest.

As the car passed a corner, Quinn seemed to catch a glimpse of a very familiar figure with a man.

"Huh?" Quinn blinked and turned her head to look at the direction through the car window.

"What’s wrong?" Elias glanced at Quinn, thinking she might have left something at the hospital.

"Nothing, I just thought that person over there looked like Xenia Monroe, but it’s probably just my mistake; they just looked a bit alike." Quinn shook her head, she did think that person’s outfit resembled Xenia’s style, but she should be busy preparing for short videos today and wouldn’t be out strolling.

After sending Nina and Quinn home, Elias returned to the company.

Due to Nina’s recent weight loss which resulted in a lack of nutrition, Quinn prepared some nutritional meal plans, instructed the servants to follow the recipes daily to help Nina recover her health as soon as possible.

The next day, Quinn received a call from director Quentin Woods’ crew, expressing that some scenes in the movie needed to be reworked and some additional scenes were added.
