Chapter 279: Chapter 279
Quinn could feel her brother’s cold attitude towards Nina.
Even though she wanted to help, she realized she couldn’t interfere too much in others’ relationships. She could only hope both Nina and her brother would be happy and content.
"Thanks, it doesn’t hurt at all."
"But little sister-in-law, when did you learn to knit scarves? That’s amazing." Nina’s gaze fell on Quinn’s gray scarf, asking curiously.
Quinn was supposed to be just like herself, not interested in these things.
Besides, they didn’t even need to knit their own scarves to wear. Could it be she learned it especially for her brother?
Nina turned back to look at Quinn, who was bandaging her wound, and flashed a mischievous smile.
"I just happened to see a video about it once, and I picked it up." Quinn said, blinking unnaturally.
"Alright, no need to hide it, I already know." Nina patted Quinn on the shoulder, saying meaningfully. Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on noveⅼfire.net
Quinn’s fingers trembled, almost sticking the band-aid crooked. She felt a bit flustered inside, unsure of what exactly Nina knew.
"Seeing how nervous you are, don’t worry, little sister-in-law, I won’t tell your brother that you learned to knit scarves especially for him." Winking cheekily, Nina mischievously watched Quinn’s serious face.
Hearing this, Quinn finally breathed a sigh of relief, and her expression relaxed.
"Alright, don’t knit anymore today. It’s inconvenient with the band-aid on your hand." Quinn awkwardly shifted the topic, tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Little did she know, this behavior seemed to Nina like she was shy about Nina seeing through her reason for learning to knit scarves.
Her stomach began to rumble quietly, and Quinn glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already five o’clock.
A handsome, aloof face flashed through her mind, and Quinn’s eyes lowered.
She wondered if he had eaten yet.
However, by the time Elias returned, it was already past nine in the evening.
Nina, eager to quickly give the scarf to Cameron, didn’t listen to Quinn’s advice. She continued knitting the scarf in secret on the sofa after Quinn went to her room.
"Brother, you’re back!" Nina lifted her head, her entire face filled with happiness, and greeted Elias enthusiastically.
"Hmm." Elias glanced at Nina, responding nonchalantly.
"Are you knitting a scarf?" Elias hung his coat and was about to ask Nina why she hadn’t gone to her room so late, but saw she was seriously knitting something.
The blue yarn was scattered on the sofa, and watching Nina’s fluid motions, Elias was evidently surprised.
"Yes, this is for Cameron. Not bad, right?" Nina raised the half-finished scarf in her hands, her eyes curving with satisfaction.
Elias’s gaze landed on the scarf.
The pale blue wool, subtly streaked with white, like snowflakes drifting in a warm winter sky, paired with a lover’s knot pattern, looked indeed elegant and refined—perfect for Cameron.
"Not bad." Elias nodded. Although his tone remained indifferent, there was a hint of affirmation.
After all, seeing how impatient Nina usually was, it was clear this wasn’t her forte.
Hearing Elias’s words, Nina almost jumped for joy, running up to him with the scarf, asking repeatedly if he really meant it.
"Do you know, brother? It was little sister-in-law who taught me, and she’s awesome at knitting." Nina raised her eyebrows, looking at her brother with deep meaning.
Elias was slightly taken aback, surprise crossing his brow. He then said: "Oh? She can do this too?"
"Yes, yes, and she’s knitting a gray scarf. I think this color suits you well, brother, so little sister-in-law must be making it for you." Nina nodded vigorously, eyes widening as she observed Elias, trying to catch every tiny shift in his expression.
Looking at the scarf in Nina’s hands, a soft smile surfaced in Elias’s cool eyes.
He remembered how Quinn, when drunk, once confessed she loved seeing him in gray and navy blue.
The man glanced upstairs, and the smile on his lips deepened.
The next morning, Quinn was woken by an unfamiliar phone call.
Forcing her eyes open, she picked up the phone and found it was a call from Veldona.
"Hello, who’s calling?" Quinn didn’t know anyone in Veldona, the only person she could think of was Ethan, the foreign photographer she’d collaborated with.
"Savannah, you heartless person, you didn’t even save my number." The voice on the other end wasn’t a man’s, but a sweet and cute woman’s, though it sounded tired and a bit sad.
"Uh?" Quinn hesitated, unable to recall who the voice belonged to after thinking hard.
"Where are you? Can you come pick me up at the airport? I’m so hungry, and I haven’t used my domestic bank card in a long time. I forgot the password and it’s locked, and now I’m penniless." The person on the line sounded so helpless, yet from her tone, it was clear she knew and trusted Savannah well.
After thinking for a while, Quinn found the voice somewhat familiar.
This must be a friend of Savannah’s.
"Give me a moment, I’ll be at the airport within half an hour. Find a safe place to wait." Quinn tumbled out of bed.
Whether or not she was personally familiar with the caller, the thought of a girl being stranded without any money was something she couldn’t ignore.
Quickly washing her face, Quinn dashed out without even applying makeup.
Eager to pick someone up, she decided to drive herself.
But as soon as she arrived at the airport, Quinn was a bit at a loss.
She had no idea what the person looked like.
Let alone her appearance, she didn’t even know her name.
"Savannah, I’m here, I’m here!" a sweet and excited female voice called out in front.
Following the voice, Quinn saw a girl with a half-bun hairstyle, looking pretty and lively, pulling a red suitcase and running towards her.
In white canvas shoes and blue dungaree overalls, she looked pure and playful.
"I’ve missed you so much! I... I’m finally back." The girl rushed to Quinn, pushed her suitcase aside, and enveloped her in a big hug.
What should have been a joyful reunion turned into a scene where the girl held onto Quinn and burst into sobs, attracting quite a bit of attention.
"What happened to you? Don’t cry, don’t cry." Quinn was a bit startled and patted her back, comforting her.
