Chapter 269: Chapter 269
"Savannah, your mom and I need to go back to handle some matters. Listen to Elias and don’t throw a tantrum."
"We’re leaving now, Savannah is in your hands, Elias."
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell earnestly gave some advice, then left hand in hand.
Quinn Lockwood felt hopeless seeing her parents completely leaving her in the hands of the man sitting on the sofa.
Elias Sinclair reviewed paper documents and a series of electronic files until past nine in the evening, while Quinn Lockwood stubbornly fought to keep her eyelids from drooping.
"Hey, Boss Sinclair, it’s so late, are you not going home?" Quinn couldn’t help but yawn and asked.
"Where would I go?" Elias put down the document in hand and raised an eyebrow.
"Home, you wouldn’t be sleeping here, right?" Quinn sat up quickly in a panic.
Elias noticed her movement and furrowed his brows, then walked over to Quinn, seeing she was stable, he picked up a water cup and poured her a glass of water.
"Drinking less water before bed helps metabolism."
Quinn blinked and accepted the cup.
She indeed felt a bit thirsty.
After drinking most of the water, Quinn put the cup back on the table, only to see Elias pick up the cup and drink the rest of the water.
"You..." shocked, Quinn looked at him incredulously, how could this guy be so unbothered drinking her leftover water!
With a slight smile at the corner of his eyes, Elias put the cup down and teasingly said, "Why so surprised, haven’t we kissed?"
"I already said, drinking less water before bed helps metabolism."
Seeing Quinn’s cheeks turn slightly red, Elias’s lips curled into a subtle smile, then he walked towards the sofa and took a set of dark blue pajamas out from a package next to the organizer.
That’s right, it was the one Quinn shared she liked when she was drunk.
Quinn was completely stunned.
It seemed this man never planned to leave the hospital from the start.
"Go to sleep, I still have a few documents to approve." Elias undressed from his suit jacket and began unbuttoning his shirt.
"Go change behind the screen, not in front of me!" Quinn quickly shut her eyes and lay down.
She really couldn’t take this unabashed man.
Though his physique was indeed good.
But Quinn Lockwood was still a young lady, she was shy!
Covering her head with the blanket to block out light and Elias, Quinn unknowingly fell into a deep sleep.
Waking up the next day, Quinn saw the white ceiling and thought she was dreaming.
Until she instinctively moved her leg and felt a pain in her ankle, sending a sharp reminder through her nerves, that Quinn fully awakened.
"Ow, ow, ow, oh my gosh." Halting her lifted leg in mid-air, Quinn couldn’t help but exclaim.
She completely forgot her injury yesterday, all because last night’s dream was too sweet.
"Why are you moving around again?" Elias frowned as he walked over, gently placed her leg onto the bed.
"Thanks, I wasn’t moving on purpose, it was instinctive, I... forgot about the injury, hehe." Quinn chuckled awkwardly, brushing her hair, maybe feeling he must think her silly.
Upon hearing Quinn say thank you, Elias’s brow furrowed slightly but quickly passed.
Elias then picked up a neatly folded towel and walked towards the bathroom.
"No need, I can wash up myself." Quinn sat up and quickly called out.
Seeing Elias seemingly not hearing her, Quinn sighed helplessly, she only had minor injuries to her knee and ankle, she wasn’t disabled.
Yet Elias Sinclair, being so high and mighty, would care for her without fuss.
Touched, Quinn still used the hospital-provided crutch to walk toward the bathroom.
When Elias came out with the towel, he saw Quinn already at the door.
"Didn’t I say not to move around?" Elias’s face suddenly turned serious, his tone seemed somewhat stern.
"I’ve been lying in bed for so long, feeling uncomfortable, and I... I need to use the bathroom. I can wash up myself, you don’t need to worry about me." Quinn dropped her eyes, her face slightly flushed.
For you know, from last night till now, she’d been holding off going to the bathroom.
Elias’s expression slightly froze then casually stepped aside, lightly saying, "I’ll wait for you to come out."
"No, no, no, it’ll take a while, I need to wash up, you can go!" Quinn quickly rejected Elias’s ’kindness,’ then snatched the towel from him, using her crutch to enter the bathroom.
Even at the moment closing the door, Quinn didn’t relax.
Moving to the sink to splash cold water on her face, Quinn saw her usual skincare products and shampoos neatly placed on a small shelf.
When did these come over?
Opening Helena’s moisturizer and patting it on her face, Quinn suddenly remembered hearing the door open in a daze last night.
Vaguely recalling Elias saying, "Did you bring everything?"
That late at night, he hadn’t rested?
In that instant, Quinn felt her heart submerged in warm spring water. Updates are released by novęlfire.net
Very warm, very gentle.
When Quinn finished freshening up and walked out of the bathroom, she found Elias still waiting at the door.
Though leaning against the wall with arms crossed, there was no trace of impatience.
"I ordered breakfast from Anson’s, it’ll be delivered soon." Upon seeing Quinn come out, Elias immediately went over to help her.
Casual dialogue, gently holding her arm, everything naturally like treating a long-married wife.
"Okay." For some reason, Quinn’s heart fluttered, she just nodded obediently.
Under Elias’s care, besides wandering within the ward, most of Quinn’s time was spent in bed.
Extremely bored, Quinn even started watching her own dramas, but once she started, she kept finding flaws, eventually closing her phone and helped Elias check some small project files.
While Quinn was seriously calculating a bunch of numbers, she heard Elias on a phone call with someone, his tone somewhat angry.
"Useless, you can’t even handle this, I think you and your team can pack up and leave."
"Got it, tell everyone to gather in the conference room."
Face cold as he hung up the phone, Elias then took the suit jacket hanging on the wall.
