Chapter 144: Chapter 144

Cameron Grant didn’t even think before he blurted out, "No way!"

As the words landed, the air seemed to freeze, with no sound at all. Elias Sinclair watched him thoughtfully, but didn’t say a word.

"I’m heading back with my brother first, Grandpa. Savannah will come to see you again." Quinn Lockwood hurriedly pulled Cameron along. She really didn’t want to move back in—not only would it be uncomfortable, but she’d have to face this poker face every day. Although her relationship with Elias Sinclair had eased somewhat, to say they could live together...

Better forget it, the thought alone was suffocating.

Elias Sinclair took the two back to the Lowell Family, and as he observed Cameron Grant from the rearview mirror, he suddenly spoke, "Grandpa didn’t seem too happy earlier. You rejected his request—worried that if Savannah returns to The Sinclair Family, Nina might clash with her?"

Upon hearing him ask, Cameron hesitated a bit. In truth, he didn’t know why he’d immediately refused on Quinn’s behalf without thinking—it just felt like not seeing her every day would leave him a bit downcast.

Maybe it was because he’d been getting along harmoniously with Quinn recently, giving him a sort of older brother’s sense of responsibility.

Then he flashed a light-hearted smile and joked, "Savannah has always been someone who doesn’t tolerate any grievance; that punk Nina has such a fiery temper—if those two get together, they’ll surely turn the place upside down."

"Brother, you’re teasing me again!" Quinn Lockwood pouted, looking at Cameron Grant with reluctance, yet her almond eyes sparkled with a hint of amusement.

Elias Sinclair cast a cold glance at the two without saying a word. For more chapters visıt novęlfire.net

After dropping the two off at the Lowell’s, Elias didn’t go inside to greet Mr. and Mrs. Lowell, as his mood at the moment was indeed not suited for it, not to mention he had more important matters to attend to.

The man sat cold-faced in the study, watching a video taken by the private investigator today; the scene was of a sensuous and glamorous woman laughing and playing with him amidst lush green plants and dancing willow catkins, surprisingly the whole scene had a beauty and harmony to it.

His slender fingers tapped lightly on the keyboard, pulling up the private investigator’s personal details and company location, then sent the audio file for Ethan to handle...

The person orchestrating things from behind had crossed his bottom line; once he finds out, he definitely won’t let them off!

The next day, Quinn Lockwood went to the set for shooting as usual.

"Savannah, why didn’t you come yesterday?" Ariana Lynch, seeming quite close, drew Quinn Lockwood over to sit beside her; those unaware might have thought they were incredibly close friends.

Quinn Lockwood’s originally good mood was suddenly disturbed; at this moment, she felt her whole arm extremely uncomfortable, yet found it hard to show it, thus she lightly furrowed her brows, "Wasn’t feeling well yesterday, just rested."

"Oh? Did you go see a doctor then, is everything alright?" Ariana’s eyes flashed with an unfathomable light, yet she continued to smile kindly.

Quinn Lockwood felt a wave of disgust deep down and pretended to get up to avoid her touch, "Thank you for your concern, nothing serious." Just as she was about to walk away, the phone in her pocket rang, and upon seeing who was calling, her eyes flashed, and she sat back down.

"Is that Miss Lowell? Do you remember me? I’m Jonah Hansen." The voice on the other end was polite and reasonable, but Quinn Lockwood knew very well his true thoughts—even though he appeared to be a decent gentleman, in reality, he was a thoroughly hypocritical man!

She changed her tone accordingly, "Of course I remember, looking for Ariana? She’s right next to me."

Ariana hesitated in thought, looking at Quinn with some confusion; who was looking for her? And why call Quinn?

"So that’s it, alright then, I’ll come over, see you tonight." She deliberately laughed like a blooming flower, gently covering her mouth to avoid laughing out loud as she lightly ended the call, tidying up her hair.

She delicately pursed her red lips and eagerly linked arms with Ariana, "Mr. Hansen said he’d come by the set to see you and asked if I wanted to grab a bite. I recall he’s the vice president of your father’s company, you two must be quite acquainted. Ariana, what should we eat tonight?"

"Jonah Hansen?" Ariana’s face changed, shocked; she didn’t expect Jonah Hansen would be so familiar with Quinn.

"How did you know each other! Why is he... inviting you for dinner?" Although she really wanted to grab Quinn and ask thoroughly, Ariana maintained a gentle smile on the surface.

Quinn Lockwood held Ariana’s hand, a flash of light in her almond eyes, immediately frowning guilelessly at her, "Ariana, here’s what happened; I went to your company a few days ago to discuss the script, had some trouble downstairs, and Mr. Hansen happened to assist me, we’re okay, don’t misunderstand... tonight we can grab dinner together and let Mr. Hansen explain..."

Ariana’s smile nearly froze for an instant, struggling to suppress the swirling anger within, she forced a couple of chuckles, "Oh, that’s it, nothing to explain, I trust you both, I won’t be coming tonight, there’s work at the company that needs me."

If she went, it’d be like Quinn smacking her right across the face!

"Oh, that’s really too bad then." Quinn sighed softly, looking at her with some disappointment.

"I’ll go change now, we’ve still got a couple of scenes, aren’t you coming?"

"You head first; I’ll review the script a bit more." Saying this, Ariana lowered her eyes to look at the script, yet once Quinn left, a wave of resentment surged in her eyes, her hands clasped tightly.

Savannah Lowell, you really are something, even managing to win over Jonah Hansen.

Perhaps due to the issue between Quinn and Jonah Hansen, Ariana’s shooting state in the afternoon wasn’t great, getting stuck multiple times without passing; although the director was quite irritable, he couldn’t afford to lose his temper at her, opting to let her rest for a bit.

While Quinn was casually chatting with others on set, a fine-looking man stopped before her.

"Miss Lowell, there you are."

Looking up, Quinn Lockwood met Jonah Hansen’s smiling eyes; arriving this quickly was just like him.

"You’re here, Ariana is in the lounge, I’ll take you to her." Immediately getting up to lead him to Ariana, she was held back by Jonah, gently pulling on her sleeve.

"What time do you wrap up, decided which restaurant to go tonight?"

Suppressing the bubbling emotions, Quinn Lockwood smiled politely, "I’ll take you to Ariana first."

Jonah Hansen’s expression was slightly awkward; not only was Ariana Lowell the daughter of The Lowell Group, but also a currently popular actress, and she’d never disclosed their relationship publicly.

Besides, his main purpose this time wasn’t for Ariana, but to take Quinn out for dinner; a flicker in his eyes, "If Ariana isn’t feeling well, let her rest, I’ve found a restaurant with great taste and style—do you fancy Western cuisine?"

He leaned closer to Quinn, wanting to sit her down; resisting the urge to shove him away, she subconsciously leaned to the side.

Inwardly, Quinn Lockwood detested this incredibly hypocritical man immensely; agreeing to dine with him was merely to irk Ariana, but noticing Jonah’s apparent lack of concern for Ariana, she momentarily flashed surprised eyes, drawing a sweet smile.

"Western cuisine, yes I love it; dining in an elegant, romantic setting lifts one’s spirits." Like a little girl, Quinn toyed with her hair tips, appearing naïve and adorable.

Watching Quinn, tender and lovely, Jonah’s heart seemingly tickled by something.
