Chapter 126: Chapter 126
"Then I’ll head back, you should rest soon too, brother." Quinn Lockwood took a few steps before turning back. When Cameron Grant wasn’t paying attention, she grabbed the cushion from earlier.
"I love this big yellow duck. It perfectly matches my pajamas, so I’ll take it with me for now~" Quinn Lockwood dashed to the door, pointed at the pattern on her pajamas towards Cameron Grant, then closed the door and ran off.
Cameron Grant looked at the other big yellow duck cushion on the bed, a gentle smile formed at the corner of his mouth but his gaze flickered back to the computer. Thıs text ıs hosted at novel✶fire.net
The next morning, Quinn Lockwood returned to the Misty Rain film crew.
"Long time no see, Savannah Lowell. It’s been such a long time, can you still act?" Ariana Lynch flipped through the script in her hand, glancing disdainfully at Quinn Lockwood.
"It has indeed been a while, Miss Lynch." Quinn Lockwood smiled faintly, emphasizing the Lynch.
"You..." Ariana Lynch heard the sarcasm and looked up displeased, ready to stand up just as the crew enthusiastically called Quinn Lockwood over.
Seeing a group of people bombarding Quinn Lockwood with questions, Ariana Lynch unconsciously tightened her grip on the script.
"Savannah, it’s been so long since we’ve had your delicious food. I’ve even dreamed about it a few times!"
"Yes, yes. Without you, I don’t know who to share my acting insights with."
Quinn Lockwood was surrounded by enthusiastic people, feeling a bit unused to it, she smiled foolishly for quite a while.
"Alright, alright, everyone to your positions. Get ready for shooting. Savannah Lowell, go change clothes, you’re next." The director’s stern command came from the side. Although unwilling, everyone quickly dispersed.
During the scene with Elias Sinclair, Ariana Lynch found numerous excuses to push the blame for bad takes onto Quinn Lockwood, but Quinn Lockwood just smiled faintly and obliged with several retakes as per her requests.
Finally, after the fifth retake, Ariana Lynch couldn’t take it anymore as Quinn Lockwood had surreptitiously adjusted her position, causing the wind machine to blow directly on Ariana Lynch, making her eyes tear and feeling quite cold.
"Cut!" The take finally passed, and Quinn Lockwood exhaled lightly, then shivered; she was also cold from the wind.
Then a jacket with a slight scent of gardenia was draped over her shoulders. She turned back to see a clear, sunny face.
"Dylan?" Quinn Lockwood wrapped the jacket around herself and smiled lightly.
"I just came from the company. Attended a program in the morning. Is everything going smoothly for you?" Dylan sat beside her, asking with some concern.
"Mm, pretty smoothly. I can get into the state quickly now."
They hadn’t finished chatting when Dylan was called by an assistant to fix his appearance. Ariana Lynch’s eyes shot with jealous hatred seeing Dylan chat warmly with Quinn Lockwood, and then she locked her phone screen, a faint smile appearing on her lips.
Since they had a shoot scheduled early the next day, Quinn Lockwood stayed at the hotel arranged by the crew.
After memorizing the script, a slightly weary Quinn Lockwood collapsed on the bed, pulled out her phone, and scrolled through her messaging app contacts, then started a video call with Cameron Grant.
"Achoo!" Just as the video connected, Quinn Lockwood couldn’t help but sneeze, then she sniffled and grinned at the phone screen.
"What’s wrong, Savannah? Is work going smoothly?" Cameron Grant seemed busy on the other end of the call.
"Are you still busy, brother? What are Dad and Mom up to?" Quinn Lockwood widened her eyes at the screen, seemingly trying to see what Cameron Grant was busy with.
"I’m just signing some papers. Dad and Mom should be in the living room. I’ll take you to see them." With that, the screen started moving, and after a while, Cameron Grant’s voice came through: "Dad, Mom, Savannah wants to see you."
Mr. Lowell took the phone and saw Quinn Lockwood’s face pressed up against the screen, grinning with a few little white teeth.
After updating each other on their situations, Cameron Grant returned to chatting with Quinn Lockwood casually until she sneezed a few more times and had to wipe her nose a few times too.
"Have you caught a cold? How could you be so careless? Which hotel are you at? I’ll bring you some medicine." Cameron Grant frowned deeply, looking concerned.
"It’s fine, I have medicine here, don’t worry." Quinn Lockwood reassured Cameron Grant a few more times before making an excuse to take her medicine and hanging up the call.
"Luckily, he didn’t notice, or else brother would surely come over." Quinn Lockwood thought to herself, then relaxed her expression and downed a large glass of water.
Probably caught a chill from the wind machine today, better get some rest early.
She then opened her phone to scroll through the latest X trending topics to drift into sleep. Seeing her name still on the headlines, she locked the screen, not bothering to engage.
The next day, while filming on set, Ariana Lynch seemed in a good mood, and surprisingly didn’t give Quinn Lockwood a hard time through three scenes.
"Savannah, look at this trending topic. The things people are saying are really awful." During a break, someone from the set crew was on their phone and showed Quinn Lockwood the trending topic about her.
Ariana Lynch glanced in Quinn Lockwood’s direction and then sipped her tea.
Quinn Lockwood took the phone and looked at the title, but said nothing, just smiled slightly. Nearby, the lighting tech took a drag of his cigarette and looked at her, saying, "I think someone’s deliberately targeting you. Why not issue a statement?"
"Forget it, forget it, I’ve been on trending for weeks now. They’ve said everything. I’m already immune." Quinn Lockwood shrugged, then snapped her fingers and told them, "By the way, I’ve recently discovered a few foods that have detoxifying and beautifying effects..."
Hearing the words ’detoxifying and beautifying,’ the young girls from the crew surrounded Quinn Lockwood like they’d seen a treasure, their eyes sparkling.
Elias Sinclair was in the office reading various public opinion articles from influencer accounts about Quinn Lockwood’s press conference. He frowned and opened X, scrolling through various articles and comments about Quinn Lockwood.
Influencer bloggers were reposting articles and comments about Quinn Lockwood, claiming that the press conference involved her coercing The Kramer Family’s young lady, manipulating public opinion to clear her name. Many were digging up past instances of her bribing directors for extra scenes or bullying newcomers on set.
The post with the most shares was about the recent ’close interactions’ between Quinn Lockwood and Dylan on set, with photos of them together on set contrasted with previous photos of them fleeing from the beach.
Some leading influencer bloggers claimed Quinn Lockwood was deliberately flirting with Dylan, trying to piggyback on Dylan’s popularity to get more screen time.
The man’s gaze lingered on the photo of their tightly clasped hands during the escape, his expression darkening instantly, then he clicked the photo and sent it to his phone.
Watching the coordinated comments under all the articles, his fingers gently rubbed the wooden desk, his gaze filled with suspicion and scrutiny.
He continued clicking the mouse, trying to find out who wrote these articles, but discovered that the authors had been banned for allegedly spreading false information.
