Chapter 114: Chapter 114
Elias Sinclair rubbed his chin, feeling a little agitated. At first, he thought Quinn Lockwood’s care for Mr. Lowell was just an act, but now it seemed he was mistaken.
He looked at Quinn Lockwood’s face, as if trying to discern something, stared at her for a while, and then showed a slightly self-mocking expression.
"Cough, cough." A coughing sound came from nearby.
Quinn Lockwood frowned, opened her eyes weakly, and looked at the white wall in front of her, feeling a bit panic-stricken.
She tried to get up but was stopped by a strong arm.
"The doctor said you need to rest more." A cold voice of a man came from beside her ear.
Quinn Lockwood looked at the man in a daze, then glanced around at her surroundings, and at the IV tube on her hand, slowly asking, "What’s wrong with me?"
Her voice still sounded a bit weak. Elias Sinclair glanced at her and briefly explained what had happened: "You fainted at the doorway of the ward due to anemia."
Upon hearing this, Quinn Lockwood showed no reaction. She was about to thank Elias Sinclair when she suddenly remembered something and tried to get up again.
"What are you trying to do?" Elias Sinclair stopped her once more, his brow slightly furrowed.
"Dad hasn’t eaten yet, I made lunch and brought it here... that..."
Before she could finish, Elias Sinclair interrupted coldly, "You dropped the lunchbox when you fainted. I’ve already arranged for lunch to be delivered, so you don’t need to worry."
Seeing her lie down obediently, the man’s stern expression softened a bit.
Just then, a lazy, rebellious, and proud voice came from outside the door: "I was wondering who could have such influence to have Director Kevin deliver lunch; turns out it’s Miss Lowell."
Ethan waltzed in, placed the lunchbox on the table next to the bed, crossed his arms, and looked at the two people in front of him.
"I told Kevin to come," Elias Sinclair said, his face darkening at Ethan’s amused expression.
"Come on, Boss Sinclair, don’t give Kevin a hard time. There’s a heap of work waiting for him in the advertising team. Besides, I had nothing on my hands and, given my curiosity, I came in his place." Ethan shrugged, chuckling mischievously at them.
"Savannah, you’re sick? How serious is it? I’ve been missing you since you haven’t come to shoot the commercial for a few days." Ethan looked extremely concerned, casting a sidelong glance at Elias Sinclair.
"If you’re free, I don’t mind giving you something to do," Elias Sinclair said icily, clearly dissatisfied with Ethan.
"No, no, I’ll leave now, not interrupting your lovey-dovey time~" With that, Ethan waved his hand and left with a cheeky grin.
Quinn Lockwood shook her head as she watched Ethan’s departing figure, inwardly marveling at his audacity. She then noticed Elias Sinclair’s immensely dark expression and explained, "He misunderstood our relationship. I’ll clarify to him during the shoot."
Elias Sinclair shot a glance at Quinn Lockwood and then opened the lunchbox on the table.
"I’ve known Ethan since childhood. He’s been abroad, but he knows about my affairs." He said while handing a bowl of soup to Quinn Lockwood.
Quinn Lockwood nodded in sudden understanding—no wonder Ethan dared to behave so boldly in front of Elias Sinclair; they were close friends.
She glanced down at the soup in her hand and couldn’t help frowning.
"No, I can’t drink this; it’s too greasy." She was about to put the lid back on when Elias Sinclair took the cover from her hands.
"You must drink it," the man said firmly, with an authoritative tone, "The doctor said you need to replenish your nutrition, and you can’t even take care of yourself right now, let alone dad."
The logic in Elias Sinclair’s words struck a chord with Quinn Lockwood; she indeed felt weak all over, so she picked up the bowl intending to drink it, though her hands trembled slightly from weakness.
"Let me." Seeing this, Elias Sinclair took the soup from her hand, scooped a spoonful, and brought it to her lips.
Seeing Quinn Lockwood’s stunned expression, he frowned and said, "Open your mouth." Quinn Lockwood obliged immediately.
Sensing the shivering yet reassuring aura emanating from the man, she felt much at ease, slowly enveloped by drowsiness.
"Oh dear, I shouldn’t intrude," Mrs. Lowell initially intended to check on her daughter but instead stumbled upon such an intimate scene between the two. Delighted, she hurried to share it with Mr. Lowell.
After finishing the soup, Quinn Lockwood lay back, looking at the saline bottle, her eyelids growing heavy.
Elias Sinclair watched her struggling to stay awake despite her obvious fatigue and couldn’t help but smile faintly, then he got up and pulled down the curtains.
"Rest well before going upstairs." Though his tone remained cold, Quinn Lockwood found it much more agreeable. The man’s silhouette slowly blurred, giving way to darkness.
Quinn Lockwood slept soundly. When she awoke, the IV drip had just finished, prompting her to quickly get up, put on her shoes, and rush upstairs to see Mr. Lowell.
"Savannah, why did you come up? You should rest a bit longer!" Mr. Lowell said sternly. Follow current novᴇls on n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net
"Dad, I’m fine now. I was worried you’d be concerned, so I hurried up here." Quinn Lockwood grinned awkwardly at Mr. Lowell before saying, "It’s time for a leg massage."
Mr. Lowell waved his hand to refuse and got out of bed, saying, "No need, Savannah. I’ve almost recovered, and we can arrange for discharge soon."
"That won’t do." Quinn Lockwood quickly interjected, helping Mr. Lowell back to bed, and said, "You need a thorough check-up before leaving to ensure everything is alright."
"Savannah makes sense; a thorough examination is indeed needed." Elias Sinclair nodded, surprisingly agreeing with Quinn Lockwood.
Mr. Lowell, seeing this, recalled the scene downstairs earlier and smiled in contentment, saying, "Alright, I’ll listen to you both. Elias, take good care of Savannah."
"Alright," Elias Sinclair responded lightly.
Since Mr. Lowell had frequent check-ups these days, Elias Sinclair often visited the hospital, each time bringing nourishing food for Quinn Lockwood via Ethan.
This time, Ethan brought some explosive news.
"Dude, you’re awesome," Ethan said to Elias Sinclair with a sly grin, slinging an arm around his shoulder.
Elias Sinclair cast a cold glance at the hand on his shoulder, sending chills down Ethan’s spine, who quickly retracted it.
"What’s up?" The man raised an eyebrow, his expression stern.
"Here, see for yourself. I’m outta here; goodbye!" Ethan tossed a stack of photos to Elias Sinclair, pointed to his phone, and nearly fled the scene.
