Chapter 113: Chapter 113
"Savannah, your brother has been out for so long, why hasn’t he come back yet? Come with Mom to check on him." Mrs. Lowell glanced at Elias Sinclair, then at Mr. Lowell with a meaningful look, hurriedly pulling her daughter out.
"Mom, didn’t he go back to the company?" Quinn Lockwood looked at Mrs. Lowell with a face full of confusion.
"Oh dear, look at my memory. Then accompany me for a walk in the corridor. We’ve been in the ward for so long, it’s not very comfortable." Mrs. Lowell affectionately smiled at her daughter, then stretched her body.
Seeing this, Quinn Lockwood quickly helped her walk in the corridor.
"Savannah, how have you and Elias been lately?"
"We’re doing fine..." Quinn Lockwood didn’t want Mrs. Lowell to worry, so she put on a very happy expression.
"I see, well... once your dad gets better, you should go back to the Sinclair Family. You’re a married woman, you can’t keep running back to your own home!" Mrs. Lowell’s expression turned from loving to complicated, finally becoming serious.
Quinn Lockwood didn’t know how to refuse her, so she evasively answered that she would consider it once Mr. Lowell recovered, only for Mrs. Lowell to refute her. Quinn Lockwood hurriedly agreed, saying, "Alright, alright, I’ll go back."
Mrs. Lowell was thrilled to hear this and quickly went back to tell Mr. Lowell and Elias Sinclair.
"There’s no reason for a married couple to live apart for so long, Elias, don’t blame Savannah, she really is a bit spoiled." Mr. Lowell gave Quinn Lockwood a stern look, then shifted his gaze to Elias Sinclair, observing his expression.
"I don’t blame her." This time, Elias Sinclair was surprisingly accommodating, leaving Quinn Lockwood momentarily stunned.
"Why don’t you go back with Elias today, Savannah? Your dad still has me here, and you need to rest well." Mrs. Lowell said, while giving Mr. Lowell a look.
"No, no, Mom, your health isn’t good either. I need to stay and take care of Dad. Besides, Elias has work to do, going back would just disturb him..." Quinn Lockwood hurriedly waved her hands, then escorted Elias Sinclair out of the ward.
As they walked, she said, "Today has already delayed Elias a lot, he must be eager to get back to the company to handle things, I’ll see him off."
Hearing Quinn Lockwood address him as Elias so casually made Elias Sinclair feel incredibly irritated; his expression turned absolutely frosty as he looked down at the woman in front of him with a lifted chin. Quinn Lockwood felt an intense sense of pressure.
"Don’t worry, once Dad recovers, I’ll find an excuse to explain to him. You don’t need to worry, I won’t move back." She thought Elias Sinclair was upset because she would move back, so she quickly explained it to him.
"You do need to go back once, Grandfather often asks about you." The man frowned slightly, glanced at her, and left directly.
Quinn Lockwood went back to persuade Mrs. Lowell to return and rest. After picking up the medicine Mr. Lowell needed for the evening from the pharmacy downstairs, she started to massage Mr. Lowell’s back, and in the evening, she stayed by his side, reading the latest financial information from the newspaper.
Even at night, she sat on a chair by the door, occasionally going in to check on Mr. Lowell. Seeing this, Mr. Lowell felt increasingly comforted and touched, regarding the silly things his daughter had done in the past as signs of immaturity.
When Cameron Grant and Mrs. Lowell came to relieve Quinn Lockwood, she didn’t rest but went back to personally prepare all sorts of nourishing medicinal meals and food for Mr. Lowell, crafting various exquisite and delicious meals. As a result, the whole family found everything else unpalatable upon returning home.
This went on for about three or four days. As usual, Quinn Lockwood arrived at the hospital with meals. As she reached the door, she saw Elias Sinclair chatting with Mr. Lowell. Just as she was about to greet them, dizziness overwhelmed her. She braced herself against the wall to support her body, but everything went black, and she collapsed to the ground.
The sound of the lunchbox clattering to the ground was jarringly loud in the quiet ward.
"Savannah Lowell!" Elias Sinclair turned towards the door following the noise, only to see Quinn Lockwood lying pale on the ground, the food scattered everywhere. He hurried up to her and picked her up, inexplicably flustered.
In the private consultation room, Elias Sinclair frowned deeply, watching the doctor examine Quinn Lockwood.
"How is she?" His tone was deeply cold.
"Miss Lowell is severely anemic, and her nutrition is lacking as well. Her complexion is dull and bloodless; what’s going on?" The doctor wore a stern expression, unable to comprehend Quinn Lockwood’s condition.
Patients aside, the man before him appeared to be a pillar of upper society. How could his wife suffer from such severe anemia and malnutrition?
"She’s in the entertainment industry and has to often diet to stay camera-ready," Elias Sinclair replied, rubbing his forehead truthfully.
"That’s nonsense! You’re quite the inadequate husband! If your wife hadn’t fainted, with her current condition, prolonged development would lead to problems in all bodily systems." The doctor, mildly irate, knocked on the table.
"Severe anemia and malnutrition lead to insufficient blood supply to the organs and brain. How could she be so seriously ill without anyone noticing..." The doctor wrote the diagnosis as he reprimanded Elias Sinclair.
Elias Sinclair’s face darkened, just about to explain their relationship when the doctor handed him a form, saying sternly: "Take your wife downstairs for an IV drip immediately, and make sure she gets plenty of nutrition and rest."
As Elias Sinclair carried Quinn Lockwood to the door, a voice called from behind: "Take good care of your wife. At my age, you’ll realize how wonderful it is to have a loved one by your side."
Elias Sinclair halted momentarily, then furrowed his brows, quickly carrying Quinn Lockwood to the infusion room.
He gently placed her on the bed and sat beside her, observing her condition. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs novelfire.net
Watching her breathing gradually become steady and her cheeks regain color, his brow relaxed.
"Elias," came Mrs. Lowell’s soft voice from behind.
Elias Sinclair glanced at the sleeping Quinn Lockwood, then stood up to speak with Mrs. Lowell outside.
"Savannah is asleep. The doctor said she has some anemia and malnutrition," he replied truthfully.
"Thankfully, it’s nothing serious, but it scared me." Mrs. Lowell relaxed, smoothing her chest before continuing: "Elias, you must take good care of Savannah. She’s been utterly exhausted these past few days, tirelessly working in the hospital. I urged her to rest, but she insists on going home to cook for her dad."
Mrs. Lowell glanced worriedly at her daughter on the bed. Hearing her words, Elias Sinclair’s gaze at Quinn Lockwood took on a meaningful depth. He nodded, assuring Mrs. Lowell that he would take care of Quinn, putting her mind at ease.
Reassured by Elias Sinclair, Mrs. Lowell went upstairs to care for Mr. Lowell.
