Chapter 109: Chapter 109

Elias Sinclair glanced at the worried figure of the woman by his side out of the corner of his eye. His brow furrowed slightly, and he spoke in a serious tone, "The buzz about this issue is indeed quite high. I’ve already arranged for people to handle it, so you don’t need to be too upset."

Quinn Lockwood was slightly taken aback upon hearing this. She hadn’t expected Elias Sinclair to send someone to help deal with the trending topic, and she felt slightly touched.

But upon second thought, she couldn’t help but laugh at herself. Of course, with the advertisement about to launch, he was probably afraid she’d impact sales.

"Thank you, if it affects the product sales, I’m truly very sorry." Quinn turned her head to look at the man beside her, her gaze sincere and resolute.

"But I’m not upset because of this; it’s because of Dad and Mom..." Quinn’s voice caught once more.

She took a couple of deep breaths, continuing, "I never thought Dad wouldn’t believe me at all... so... it just hurts a little. If it weren’t for you explaining on my behalf earlier, I wouldn’t know what might have happened..."

Elias Sinclair looked at her aggrieved and sorrowful expression, his heart trembled slightly, as if he wanted to reach out and do something, but in the end, he did nothing.

The two of them walked along the riverbank for a while longer. Seeing that Quinn seemed somewhat fatigued, Elias Sinclair then led her to the dining venue.

"Hello, welcome. Do you have a reservation?"

Elias Sinclair had brought her to a famous top-tier restaurant, where the cuisine was imaginative modern Spanish dishes.

After Elias provided his name, the waiter respectfully led the two to their seats.

"Mr. Sinclair, would you like us to serve the dishes?"

"Yes." The man’s fingers tapped lightly on the tabletop, his gaze falling on Quinn Lockwood across from him, his eyes deep and unfathomable, leaving one to guess what he might be thinking at this moment.

Soon after, the waiter served the pre-ordered dishes.

Quinn took a close look — a platter of shellfish, scallops with almonds, clams wrapped in bay leaves, prawns... weren’t these all Savannah Lowell’s favorite seafood dishes!

Upon further observation, she found even the utensils were exquisitely crafted works of art.

Following a snap of Elias Sinclair’s fingers, musicians in white gloves began playing violin music for them.

Quinn couldn’t help but swallow a couple of times. This Miss Lowell was really living in extravagance and excess, and remembering how Savannah used to have such high-end meals almost every time, she couldn’t help but pout.

"No need for the violin, let’s just enjoy the meal." She wasn’t quite used to having company watching her while eating.

A peculiar look flashed in Elias Sinclair’s eyes, and he waved his hand to dismiss them.

Seeing there was no one around her anymore, Quinn secretly let out a sigh of relief — she was indeed a bit hungry.

"Weren’t you always fond of this kind of arrangement? Why does it seem uncomfortable today?" The man lifted his gaze slightly, scrutinizing the woman.

"Ah, it’s because I’m not in a good mood today, so... I just want a quiet meal." Quinn hurriedly picked up her utensils, trying to mask her inner panic, with a slight oddity in her tone.

"Are you still thinking about that matter? I thought such a small issue wouldn’t be something you’d dwell on." Elias Sinclair frowned a bit, his actions slowing down.

"What small matter?" Quinn’s expression changed slightly — she didn’t quite grasp what he meant.

"You’ve been through plenty of scandals before, and didn’t the family already explain it? You don’t need to worry." Even though he was trying to comfort her, the man’s tone remained cold as he placed a prawn onto her plate. Follow current novᴇls on NoveI-Fire.ɴet

Listening to his words, Quinn found them somewhat uncomfortable. Just as she was about to ask what he meant, seeing the prawn he’d placed on her plate, she regained her composure and poured some juice for him.

"Thank you, let me give you the juice then." She tugged at the corners of her mouth toward Elias, managing a forced smile.

The man stared at the juice in front of him, took a small sip, and with a hint of a smile yet not, said, "This time nothing was added, right?"

"Elias Sinclair, what do you mean?" Quinn suddenly slammed the utensils on the table, a flame of anger sparking in her eyes.

"I’ve already apologized and explained the past issues to you, why do you have to keep bringing it up to mock me?" Quinn clutched her clothes hem tightly, biting her lip, she continued, "I used to like you, even chased after you relentlessly, but that was the past. Now, it’s you who can’t stop entangling with me, I never intended to have any connection with you, why must everything be my fault!"

Elias Sinclair watched as Quinn’s face turned red with anger, his brows furrowed involuntarily, his icy gaze narrowing slightly as he spoke, "I didn’t blame you for anything, you’re simply unfathomable."

Hearing those words, Quinn’s face darkened even further. She didn’t know why she suddenly felt like losing her temper. Perhaps it was bearing the entire mess left behind by Savannah Lowell, or maybe the recent overwhelming stress was suffocating her.

Even though none of it had anything to do with her, yet she was the one ending up blamed, just like today, Mr. Lowell didn’t listen to any of her explanations. She didn’t do anything, yet ended up having to shoulder inexplicable accusations.

And now, Elias Sinclair once again brought up the past actions of this body at this moment in time — was it to mock her?

"I’m unfathomable? Listen, Boss Sinclair, I beg you to stay away from me in the future, alright? I can’t bear the charges of seducing you and drugging you." Quinn Lockwood all but gritted out that last sentence.

"Savannah Lowell..." The man’s expression turned so cold it seemed capable of freezing anything.

She glanced at the dark-clouded look on Elias Sinclair’s face, pursed her lips tightly.

"I’m full; if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going first. Thank you for your hospitality." With that said, the girl prepared to stand up.

The man cast her a cold glance and directly got up to leave.

"Get in the car, I’ll take you back to The Lowell Residence." Outside the door, the man pressed the key to unlock the car.

"No need to trouble you, I’ll take a cab back myself, goodbye." Quinn Lockwood paid no heed to Elias Sinclair and instead got into a taxi waiting by the roadside.

"Driver, just drive for a bit." Quinn leaned tiredly against the seat, glancing sideways at the buildings outside the window.

She didn’t want to go home, just wanted to walk alone on the road quietly, maybe with a bit of wind blowing, her mood would improve.

Quinn Lockwood thought about the events of the day, dazedly walking down the street, with the street lights stretching her shadow long...

"Hey beautiful, out so late, where are you headed?"

Suddenly, she heard some men’s voices mixed with lecherous laughter behind her. Whirling around, she saw a few men staring at her with lascivious grins.

Quinn instinctively took a few steps back, her steps faltering a bit, those men’s eyes sizing her up made her feel utterly disgusted.

"Little sis, you’re so pretty, and your figure is great too. It’s lonely out here all by yourself, why don’t we show you a good time!" A greasy middle-aged man walked over first, grabbed Quinn’s wrist, seemingly having drunk a fair amount.

The other two quickly came over to restrain her and covered her mouth, pulling her over to a corner and pinning her down.

"Mmm... mmm..." Quinn looked at them in horror, her mouth covered so she could only let out faint sounds, vigorously shaking her head and struggling, kicking her legs wildly.

"You bitch, how dare you kick me." The middle-aged man slapped Quinn and then tried to tear off her clothes.
