Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Marietta P.O.V
"No daddy please!" I almost pleaded.
"No sweety, it's necessary." He ordered like always.
We were sitting at the table in the restaurant which was two blocks from the hospital.
"But......" He interrupted, "Safety matters the most. That's final." He again said and took a sip of his coffee.
We were arguing on the topic of bodyguard. Daddy wanted to hire a personal bodyguard for me and I refused it. Of course, there were so many reasons to refuse and the foremost reason was 'How the hell could I go to the crystal world if someone will stay with me 24/7?' But look like it was impossible to convince him.
"Stop looking at me and finish your food." He ordered again in his strict ordering tone and I started to dig into my pasta.
After spending the whole day with Mom and Caro, we came here to eat dinner. The time I spend with Mom was really memorable for me. Even Caro talked with me today like.....like a real sister.
Today was a real family day for me. But I would enjoy it more if it was at home rather than in a hospital. But then I wondered, if it was at home, could Caro talk with me like that? I chuckled at my thought.
"I had talked with Watson about the engagement ceremony." Daddy's voice broke the train of my thoughts.
"Hmm." I hummed.
"We decided to perform the engagement on the same date." He said.
"But Caro is not fully recovered yet neither Mom. This kind of activity... Is it okay? You should think again." I said concerned about Caro.
"I know but we have media pressure and you know there are so many rumors that are spreading like fire and these business rivals are prevailing things more. We can't postpone it." He reasoned.
"Have you talk with Mom about it?" I asked. In the hope that might be Mom could do something.
"Yes." He smirked and I pouted.
'Is it ok to arrange a gathering like this when someone is waiting for a chance to kill us?' A thought popped up in my mind.
"But Daddy still. Think again... It might be dangerous." I said.
"We'll arrange the best security. I want you to arrange everything." He said and I coughed vigorously.
"WHAT? ME?" I asked shocked.
"Yes, why not? It's up to you now. Good luck!" He said with a dismissive tone.
"Only in two days. How the hell am I supposed to do everything?" I said in a traumatic voice.
"Use your ways; those two idiots." He calmly said and I slumped my shoulder. A smile appeared on my lips on the mention of two idiots. By the way, I hadn't seen them since morning.
***********
I entered my room and the scent of homely relaxation greeted me. Daddy sent me back home so I could rest for a while and he decided to stay at the hospital. I protested that I could stay there but he refused. So I came home besides who could argue with him.
I trudged towards my closet and walked inside to pick pajamas and a shirt when my eyes landed on a particular thing.
I forgot about the clothes and stared at it for a while. It was that Book which we stole from Daddy's locker. An unusual big and little heavier than other books, the design on it was fascinating, giving it a mysterious look and making it eye-catching at the same time.
I picked it and opened it. I randomly open a page and my eyes went widened when I saw the language in it. It was similar to the words which came out of that pendant. Maybe this book could prove a helpful thing for us. I should give that to Mike so that he could translate it too. Maybe we could find something really useful in it.
I jerked when I heard a loud slamming of a door. Immediately, hiding the book behind some clothes, I walked out of the closet and shut the closet door. I turned around only to found Veward just behind me. His face was red because of anger.
He moved forward, put both hands on both sides, and caged me in between the door and him. His ocean blue orbs looked like an ocean storm, extremely angry.
"Hi!" I said awkwardly to loosen up the tension.
"Have you taken a special class for making me worried to death?" He asked angrily. I grinned in return. What should I tell him? Now it was like a habit of me, disappearing randomly from here to there.
"You silly girl at least you should bring your phone with you. Do you know how worried I was?" He pronounced each word angrily and lightly hit my head.
"Ouch! Sorry!" I whispered, rubbing my head.
"Next time..." I interrupted that angry man. "Next time it won't happen. Promise!" I said, touching my neck with my fingers to ensure him of my promise.
"Not accepted. You should pay a penalty." He said and there was a devilish smirk that appeared on his lips. 'Not a good one. I'm telling you.'
My throat went dry and I felt a strange feeling inside my stomach. He looked at me with his ocean eyes then at my lips. I gulped. Unfortunately, our trance broke by a knock on the door. He closed his eyes distasteful and I laughed.
I pushed him aside and at the same time, Bre entered inside with an amused grin on his face. "Sorry to disturb you but we have a lot of work to do."
Veward titled his head and said bitterly, "You idiot! Why the hell you always come at the wrong time?"
"I guess I'm always at the right time." Bre winked.
"How are you?" Bre asked me.
"The right question is, where was she?" Veward asked.
"What is this?" I asked, pointing at the file which was Bre holding, totally ignoring their questions.
"This...is what you have asked for," Bre said, handing me that file. I nodded.
"What?" Veward asked confused.
"I asked Bre to do a background check on Daddy's rivals." I said, checking the details inside it.
"But I'm afraid it won't help us either." Bre said and I looked at him.
"Why?"
"I did a clear close look at everything and I don't think it's someone from rivals. It's not making sense. Because these people sure do something to destroy the reputation of Amino not forget the share stock prize. The things that are happening are only making us trending in social media and somehow that's doing a good job for popularity. The person behind this doesn't want to do things on a business level, he wants to destroy us personally. He wanted to harm all family members." Bre explained.
And that only confused me more.
"He is right. Did you check the background of Darren?" Veward asked and I rolled my eyes. Bre smiled before saying,
"Yes, I did. He is a lucky man. Dude, he is not behind this. He lives in New York and only came for business in London. There is a bad and tragic story behind his family background. He really is a nice person and there is no criminal record on him. Not even a single traffic charge." Bre said.
"How can a person be so clear?" Veward said distastefully and added, "What kind of a tragic story by the way?"
"His father committed suicide and his mother had a serious breakdown when he was only 9 years old. He spends his childhood in an orphanage and grows up with a rule not to trust anyone. I told you he is not arrogant, he just has some rules." I told them.
"Right." Bre nodded.
"That's sad... But how do you know all that?" Veward asked, raising his brows.
"He told me," I said.
"He told you." He repeated then nodded simultaneously.
"Ok-ok. Back to our topic. Again, we have nothing that could help us to find that mysterious tattoo, blue-eyed guy." Bre said, coming back to our problem.
"Right. Even the person who could tell us something about him is dead." Veward said, referring to that street fight accident.
"But I think... There must be something we are missing." I spoke about the feeling of my instinct.
He wanted us to find him. That's why he always left something behind. The camera then the tattoo which led us directly to a street fight just one step away. He must have left something this time too. But what?
"What are you thinking?" Veward asked.
"He always left something for us to find him. There is always a clue. We just need to find it." I said and they exchanged glances.
"Let's repeat everything after the fight," Bre said.
"He killed that guy."
"We stop everything for a while."
"Don't forget the emails."
"Then the recent accident."
"Antonio. What about Antonio?"
"How did he die? What's the reason for his death?" I asked, getting something in my brain.
"I don't know. Actually, I didn't get the time to ask because you know Maam Emily and Caro accident and there is a lot of pending work in the office. So I just forget about it." Bre said but added holding his phone in his hand, "Just give a minute." He said and moved out of the room.
I replay everything in my mind remembering before we got to meet him, according to the doctor a nurse just gave him dosage. Could it be possible?
Bre came back as he was talking with someone on call. "Ok, thank you so much..." He cut it and looked at us.
"It's poison. Someone add a toxic drug in his IV and it went wrong with his heartbeat." Bre said and my doubt cleared.
"That it!" I exclaimed loudly. "Find her. That nurse who gave him that dosage. Find her Bre. Check the records of duty staff of that day and also CCTV recording. It's a big chance." I said again getting light of hope.
"We are genius," Veward smirked and we both look at him with a boring look.
"What?"
"One more thing, we have 2 days guys and we have to do all the arrangements of Caro engagement, and... you both are going to help me." I said before they again remembered about my disappearing thing.
"Sure thing." Veward said.
"Yep, Sir had told me about it. Don't you worry." Bre added.
