Chapter 31: Chapter 31
Marietta P.O.V
I parked the car and entered the club. As soon as I came inside, loud music hit my ears with the smell of alcohol. People were dancing on the floor. Loud music enough to make you deaf, effects of light, the smell of alcohol and sweat bodies. Everything greeting me.
I didn't have to found my friends because I knew where to find them. I looked and as always they were sitting in the VIP area. I trudged towards them, "Hey!"
They both looked at me. "Uh-ho! Someone is gonna burn many hearts tonight." Bre winked. I chuckled at his remark.
Veward looked at me from head to toe, assessing my outfits and me, then passed me a smirk and again focused his gaze on the dance floor. Idiot!
Couldn't he say something nice? Wait...why the hell I need his words? I rolled my eyes and sat down with them. Veward passed me a drink and winked.
"What?" I asked annoyed.
"Nothing." He grinned.
I looked at Bre and he was busy peeking at the whole surrounding like a prey looking for a predator. We often came here and the Red Rose club was the biggest nightclub in the whole city. And my favorite one too. I liked to come here often but because of so many other issues, we hardly got time to come here.
"Did you lost something?" Veward asked Bre. Who did not bother to divert his attention from the floor and answered, "Yeah!"
"What?" I asked.
He looked at us and snickered, "A partner. You two have each other and I don't have anyone so I'm trying to find one. Besides, I hate becoming a third wheel."
"Great! You are quite intelligent. Hurry up and find a one soon and get lost." Veward smirked.
"Sure thing." Bre winked.
"Shut up both of you..." I said. Boys could never change, assholes. Giving high-five, they both burst into laughter. I just rolled my eyes at them.
"Cheers to finding a partner!" Bre held his drink up.
"Cheers to kicking you out!" Veward winked.
"Cheers to two jerks sitting beside me!" I rolled my eyes at them. They both laughed at my comment.
We three gulped the liquor down. As soon as the sour liquor slid down my throat a shiver ran down my whole body.
"Isn't it Darren?" Bre asked, pointing at a person standing near the bar counter. When he turned around and he noticed us.
"Darren as in that businessman?" Veward asked while Darren walked towards us with a glass of wine in his hand. I nodded at Veward.
"Hi! What's up?" Darren asked in a really friendly tone. He was looking handsome as always with his blue jeans, a black V-neck shirt, making his muscular built prominent under the thin fiber, and brown messy hair.
Bre replied, "Good evening! Nothing sir. Just some friendly time. Wanna join us?"
"Hey man! You can call me Darren. Inside the office, I'm your sir but outside I'm your friend, am I?" Darren said with a smile.
"Sure." Bre replied with a smile.
"You're looking stunning, Marie." He diverted his attention to me and said with a smile.
"Thank you, Darren." I smiled back, doing an attempt to make a particular person jealous.
But on a serious note, even Darren complimented me. Why the hell he didn't say anything? Stupid me, why the hell I even want his damn compliment?
"Meet my friend Veward." I introduced Mr. Stupid to Darren.
"Hi! It's Darren." Darren extended his hand for a shake. Veward looked at his face than at his hand, then finally slightly nodded his head and shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you." Veward said with a pretty boring look that I badly wanted to hit some sense in him. I shifted my attention to the music to prevent myself from killing a particular person. Fast music had changed into a slow one which was quite relaxing.
"If beauty were time, you'd be an eternity and I'd love to have a tiny piece of your time to dance with you. May I?" Darren asked, placing the glass on the table and offering me his hand.
I switched my eyes between his hand and face. My heartbeat increased, not knowing what to do I just simply grabbed his hand and whispered a little 'sure'. Bre also winked and left. Maybe he found a partner too.
When I looked at Veward, he was looking deadly pissed-off. Like a dragon ready to burned his enemy, he was passing daggers on Darren with his red angry bloodshot eyes. Or maybe at me. But why? Now, what was wrong with him? But to be honest, I bit my laugh at his pissed-off face.
Darren led me to the dance floor where everyone was dancing gradually on the slow music. I felt awkward dancing with Darren on this type of music but it was already too late as he grabbed my waist and moved me forward, closer to him.
We, well personally, I started to dance awkwardly.
While the whole time I felt someone's deadly stare at me and I knew who it was.
I looked at Darren and he had a sheepish smile plastered on his face, as if, he knew Veward was practically controlling himself to launch at him.
Still, he moved me more closer to him and there was a bad and uneasy feeling appeared in my stomach. I felt uncomfortable, his touch was creating an awkward sensation.
When I couldn't make it more, I excused myself from him and went towards the bar counter. I could feel a strange tension increasing inside me which was so strange to describe in words.
In an attempt to relax, I decided to pick a drink. When I felt someone's presence behind me. I turned around and jumped on my foot when a full jealous person but covering it in poker face was standing just behind me.
"What the he...." My words got caught in my throat when he started to move forward.
He came closer and closer until he was just an inch away from me, practically interrupting my personal space. I could feel his breath fanning my face. My heart took accelerating the speed at our proximity. His ocean blue eyes seemed to look directly into my soul. Suddenly, he moved backward and made my cheeks red apple of snow-white.
I frowned when I noticed that he had picked a vine shot from the counter. He smirked and made an urge inside me to kill him.
"Let's dance." He said more like ordered.
"No thanks!" I said and about to walk past him when he grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the dance floor. Music was changed into EDM (Electronic Dance Music). All I could do was dance because we were already in the middle of the floor.
I surrendered myself to the melody, like dancing, twisting, turning, and let my body felt the rhythm of the music. Well, Veward was with me too and I couldn't stop myself but felt good. We danced together, changed sides until Veward was facing my back.
He came closer from behind and locked his left arm around my waist, pulling me closer and placed the glass on my neck causing a chill to run down my spine. He tugged me more closer to him that now my back was touching his muscular chest. I gasped at his sudden craziness. What was he trying to do?
After resting his face on my shoulder, he whispered in my ear, "You know you don't need my compliment as you always made my heart beat fast."
My whole body relaxed at his words and I leaned into him as a smile broke down on my lips. My heart was playing drum madly inside my rib cage. It felt like I gain what I wanted. His touch was not that awkward but relaxing. His touch made my heartbeat increased and it felt really good.
That movement I realized something. A confession I always resisted. Mia was right, she was always right. I knew that for so long but never accepted. But right now, I wanted to accept it in my heart that.........I Love him!!! I so freaking love him! He was more than a best friend and a lot more than a boyfriend to me.
He whirled me around that now I was looking deep into his ocean blue eyes. His hand made his way to my waist to pulled me closer to him while the other was busy playing with my hair. I smiled wholeheartedly at him.
Our eyes locked. There was pure silence between us but not an awkward one. I observed his beautiful face in the dim lights, his ocean blue eyes which always melt my heart, and his sharp jawline, his thin lips, smiling back at me, his blonde hairs who were falling messy over his forehead, urging me to brush them away.
By now the music again changed into a slow one but that didn't bother us because we were already in slow-mo.
We were moving slowly with eyes interlocked and I was enjoying it. My hands automatically went on his neck. It felt like a fairytale story where cinderella and prince charming were dancing at the ball, forgetting everything around them.
He placed his forehead on mine, continuously looking at me with an innocent smile when it was replaced with a naughty grin.
"What?" I asked when his grin deepened. He chuckled before whispering, "You know one day.... we are going to get married."
Ignoring the electric shocks which I felt all over me. I burst into laughter, holding my hands around his neck I let my head go back with laugher.
"You know you're an idiot!" I said, looking back at him with a huge grin.
"My pleasure!" He winked, leaning closer to my face with both hands still on my waist and my hands were wrapped around his neck. Our faces were so closed like head to head and nose to nose. I could feel his fast breath and fast heartbeat against me.
I called his name in dazed, "Veward...." He tried to kiss me when I placed my index finger on his lip to stopped him and moved backward. I just loved to teased and pissed him. I bit my sheepish smile.
"Veward I think we have already danced a lot. Now we should take some rest." I said, ignoring my fast heartbeat and burning sensation in my stomach.
I turned to leave the dance floor when he again grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him, pouting cutely at me.
"Enough now." I said and he practically groaned but I dragged him from the floor with a sheepish smile lingering on my lips.
**********
I opened my eyes still lying on the bed. Last night we came back so late, that Veward slept in Bre's room as usual. I came to my room, changed into pajamas and an oversized hoodie then jumped on my bed and drifted into a deep slumber.
Now my head was aching a bit. I flexed my hand to pick my phone from the side table. It was already 7:00 am. I again closed my eyes. The flashback of last night appeared in my mind and I smiled and blushed. After so long I enjoyed something which my heart wanted that I forgot about everything.
Every issue, every trouble, and everything. I just remembered.........
"You enjoyed it enough." An annoying voice broke my thoughts and made my eyes shot open. I hurriedly shifted into a sitting position.
Have I told you whenever I closed my eyes there was always a strange thing waiting for me? That I would close my eyes and that strange thing could happen.
"You....." I was about to give her a good lecture for disturbing my beautiful thoughts when she cut me by saying,
"I always said you don't trust anyone but you can trust him. A nice guy indeed." She said with her green eyes glimmering. I shyly smiled and blushed, forgetting I was going to scold her.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, looking at her.
Why she always wore the same kinds of clothes and carried these weapons with her?
"What are you doing here?" She asked, emphasizing 'you'. I looked at her dumbfounded.
"What you call me?" She asked.
"Masked savior," I replied.
"Right. You remember that lady who had a rose crown on her head and had worn a black gown." She asked and I nodded.
How could I forget her? She was the one who hypnotized me and she was the one who sent a Vampire to kill me and she was a Vampire queen who wanted to kill me. Now tell me, how could I forget her?
"She is a Vampire. Not an ordinary Vampire, she's a vampire queen. She wanted to rule on the whole crystal world and if she succeeds in her mission. People of the crystal world are not going to have a good future. She is a disaster, a walking demon." She said in a threatening voice.
My eyes got wider but she continued. "It's impossible to kill her. She is the most powerful queen of this century. Only you can save them. Because every powerful thing has a weakness, an end." She said, pointing her finger at me and that hit me like a hard rock.
"What does that mean now?" I asked, looking at her like she was telling me that Caro said she loves me. An impossible thing or more like a miracle, right?
"Because you are their princess. And a princess can save or either destroy her kingdom. Running away is not an option. Believe it or not but you have to face the truth now. It's time to become strong and do, what you are supposed to do." She said with an accent that can motivate a loser too. Nor that I am a loser.
"But how? I'm an ordinary human. She is a Vampire Queen." I said with a voice full of sadness and defeat and I hate myself for that.
"When you are in trouble. You hope that your masked savior means I.. will save you. Right?" She asked and I nodded. That was true.
"But you have powers," I state the obvious. She glared at me to indicate that she was not finished yet.
"Because I'm your hope. Just like that, you are their hope. Don't let them down. It's your destiny. It's your fate and called it whatever you want but you have to help them. Crystal world is your world. People of guardian towns are your people. They believed that one day their princess will save them. They grow up believing that one day you will save them." She said.
"A life has sacrificed herself just to keep you safe so that one day you will make that Vampire pay for her deeds. Don't make her sacrifice useless." Her voice was full of concern, sadness, and regret with a hint of guilt.
Thousands of questions were revolving in my mind like the planets revolved around the sun. Yet all were unanswered. What? How? Who? Why? Like planets don't know why they were revolving around the sun.
"I have protected you my all life and will always protect you until my last breath... but...you have to protect the crystal world. Don't tell anyone about me but always remember I am always with you on your back. And...always remember don't trust the people you don't know." She said the last line emphasizing each and every word.
Her words made something inside me awakened that an urge developed on its own for helping them. If I was their princess and it was my destiny then I will help them but the question was as same as always, HOW?
"You know I am a normal human, right? How I'm supposed to fight with a powerful vampire queen?"
"Who told you that you don't have powers?" Her question made me stunned.
"You're their princess after all. Royal guardians will tell you the rest of the deep details. Things which in my opinion were important I've already told you. But first, you have to save your jackpot before it gets too late." She said and pointed me to stood.
"Jackpot?!" I asked again confused.
She nodded, "I'll tell you everything. Come on, we are going to the crystal world." Then as always she grabbed my wrist and led me towards my fate.
I understood one thing from now onwards my life was not going to be the same and simple as it used to be. Because... I was going to step into new territory, a new level of this game. Which only consisted of secrets and deep secrets of my life.
From now onwards, I accepted my fate, I accepted to be the princess of the crystal world. It was time to find out about my real identity.
'Now, I am a princess of 2 worlds.'
