Chapter 29: Chapter 29
DON’T WANNA LET HER GO
“I think we don’t have anything to talk about,” she coldly said and furrowed her brows in front of the man.
“I came back to get you, Cas. I still love you and I won’t stop until I get you back,” the man said full of convictions.
They were inside a café. She thinks he purposely led her here because there were fewer people inside. He held her hand and gently squeezed it, begging her while staring straight in her eyes.
If only Jethro didn’t come to her life she could have still forgiven him. He’s cold. She did everything for him for so many years. She almost even worshipped him. When he picked her up at home, she was surprised and couldn’t even react. It felt like all the pain from those years came back to her as if the wound was just fresh from tomorrow.
“Do you honestly think I can forgive you after being rude and for causing me all those troubles, Julius?” she asked. “I may have loved you so much before but I already learned and moved on. I was wrong to give you every piece of me without saving anything for myself,” she smiled bitterly. “You just ended up cheating on me and made me look like a fool.”
“That’s why I’m here in front of you. I wanted to apologize, Cas; for making you feel bad, for letting go of you and for making you hurt all these time. I was reckless and foolish at that time.” He held her hand but she quickly yanked it away.
“I don’t want to hear more from you anymore, Julius. Please stop, I don’t want to be hurt nor listen to your lies. I don’t want to see your face anymore!” she raised her voice and hit the table. There were a few tears who wanted to escape her eyes. It wasn’t because she still had feelings for him instead it was because she felt pity about how she lived her life all these time.
Julius bent his head and then slapped himself. He brushed his hair with his fingers and then looked at her with those eyes that looked nothing the same. Cassandra backed away.
He was so mad; his eyes looked like it was being engulfed by fire.
He laughed, “Did you honestly think I came here empty handed and ready to lose you?” His words left her confused. She squinted her eyes.
“What do you mean?” she creased her forehead.
“Jethro isn’t Don Fructoso’s real son. I’m the real son,” he started. “I was the son he left behind after he impregnated my mother and now I’m back to claim what’s rightfully mine.” Cassandra’s jaw almost dropped, her eyes widened. She was frozen in her sit as she heard him say those words.
“W-what do you mean?” she asked.
“I’m the illegitimate son that everyone is talking about. I’m the real heir not Jethro.” Cassandra’s chest felt like it tightened at every word she heard. “My mom escaped with me when she was embarrassed by my father. She made me believed that my dad was long dead that’s why when you once asked me, I told you I didn’t know because that was the truth.” Julius started crying in front of her. She doesn’t know why but she wanted to believe his words. Her heart could feel his pain.
“Please stop with all these lies, Julius,” Cassandra begged him to stop.
“I’m not lying this time, Cas. I’m telling you the truth.” He pulled out a brown envelope and showed it to her. “This is the DNA test result of me and Don Fructoso.” She opened the documents and one by one examined it.
The result said it was a match. Julius then reached out to give her a picture. It was Don Fructoso together with him when he was younger.
Cssandra couldn’t believe it. Her tears rolled down her eyes, she was shaking. She looked at all the photos he gave her.
“Now please believe me,” Julius begged her. “It’s already wrong that you get involved with that family. Let me help you, I really want to help you save that land you’re currently living at,” he mentioned. “Let me face my father this time as well, I will take what’s rightfully mine. You grabbed the wrong hand but if you really want to stick to someone, please choose me.” Cassandra couldn’t process it all. “Please Cassandra, let’s get out of this place together and live peacefully far from here.” His voice was gentle and soothing. He reached for her hand and gently kissed the back of it.
“I’m so sorry, Julius but I can’t think of anything right now. I’m confused with everything right now,” she said and claimed her hands again.
“Leave Jethro behind. You’ll be in danger if you keep getting involved with him; not just you but also your family,” he said in a concerned voice.
“What did you just said?” Cassandra turned towards the person as she heard his familiar voice. It was none other than Jethro. He was full of anger while looking at the two of them. “What did you just fuckin’ said?” he repeatedly asked and approached them. He didn’t let Julius talk and grabbed him by the collar and punched him on the face. He stumbled on the ground. There were a few staffs in the café who panickly closed their shop. Cassandra held her chest out of shock. She looked at Jethro fueled by anger. She immediately approached him and grabbed him by the waist to stop him while tears were visible on her eyes.
“Please stop, Jethro, stop.”
“I’m going to fucking kill this man,” he said and raised his voice. “Don’t even dare try touching Cassandra,” Jethro threatened.
Cassandra knew tomorrow this will be all over the news and not even the Silvestre can cover up for this. She’s already been humiliated and because of this scandal, it will become even worser.
“I’m not your property Jethro. I’m also not your puppy to follow you so please stop.” She faced the man. He squinted his eyes in front of her.
“What do you mean? Don’t tell me you believe what that guy told you?” he asked pointing at Julius. He stood up from the ground and is currently wiping the blood from the side of his lips.
“What I’m telling her is the truth. You have no rights to anything you have right now.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m the real son of Don Fructoso and all of your things should been mine. I’m here to take it all including Cassandra.”
“What did you just said?” Jethro motioned again to punch Julius but Cassandra quickly went between the two of them.
“Enough! I don’t know who to believe in front of you anymore but please! Just stop! Stop!” She couldn’t contain herself anymore. Even if she kept begging them, they wouldn’t listen to her at all. She quickly walked passed by the two of them went out. She saw the crowd hovering and taking pictures.
“Cas wait.” She heard Jethro’s voice but she didn’t stop. She wanted to be alone, away from that place. She wanted to reset everything and go back to normal but it’s now impossible.
From her sob to slowly becoming her whining, she just let the tears out. She needed to make a decision right away.
