Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Quote to Remember:

"I want to think I still love you. I want to think everything is still okay after what happened. But I don't know and why this heartbeat is different."

Cassandra Jilonan's

Cassandra did not sleep well. She vowed all night to what Jillian said. Contemplating. She still can't quite figure out why Julius kept it a secret from her. It told her he had no family. In the three years she has been in a relationship with the man, he has not mentioned anything about his relatives. Therefore, when Jillian told her that his real father was Don Fructose she was even more surprised. The revelation struck her, as if she had been crucified. Add to that what Jillian said about Jethro's identity. She wanted to convince herself that not everything was true. That Jillian was just doing that to keep her away from the young man. But after examining all the papers and documents Jillian presented to her, she strongly believes that the woman is telling the truth. It just doesn’t make up the story.

Cassandra's dinner did not go well that same night. She entered her own room early and locked herself up all night, she forced herself to sleep, let her forget everything that had happened and calm herself. But she couldn't. The words were blinding her. It poisons her brain. It was early in the morning but hers eyes remained wide open. Whenever she thinks everyone wants to water her eyes. She cries, not because of the amount of trouble but because of self-pity. The matter is all her fault, her own decision to approach the young man pushed her own family to ruin.

Cassandra decided to ventilate outside. It is three o'clock in the morning. She peeked into her brother and mother's room. The two are sleeping soundly. She felt sorry for them as she watched them. She couldn't help but feel worried about what would happen next.

She went to her favorite rock. The cold breeze is cold. Only crickets from the mango trees make a quiet night. The moonlight embraces the darkness enough for her to barely see the surroundings. Cassandra looked at the vast emptiness. The city lights were serene, calm and vivid. The chickens started chirping but she was still not visited by drowsiness.

She let the tears flow in her eyes. She cried in silence. Her tears were a testimony to the agony she felt and the need to think as urgent as possible. She has to decide, before everything crumbles.

Jethro Silvestre's

He had been calling Cassandra for several days and several hundred times but he had not received a single response from her. After the night, he answered the father the girl did not show up to him. It also did not let him know that night to go home. Maybe he heard the argument they had made so he was not able to talk to her anymore. He wanted to do it on purpose in the hacienda but he also did not escape his mother's restraint. He said let it just let the girl think first.

Within a few days, Jethro poured his attention to the business. Inserts a call to Cassandra to talk, but as in previous days it does not answer him. The phone just rings but it does not pick up.

"Son, you have to relax. I explained everything to her and I know she understands the situation. I know she's a very considerate woman." His mother grabbed his arm to stop him from heading to the hacienda.

"I know Mom, but I can't be reassured when I don't see her." He explained with pure sadness.

"I know son, but for now let her think first. Let your Dad's anger cool first. Focus on the business. I know Cassandra will call you herself. She’ll miss you too." her mother implied.

Jethro could do nothing but follow the mother on that occasion. His longing for the woman is growing inside. And in the few days he restrained himself from encountering her seemed that half of his personality was gone.

Jethro could no longer bear himself. He will go to the woman no matter what his mother said. He wants to see Cassandra, hug her and kiss her. He wanted to taste those pure and innocent lips. He wanted to touch her again, bed her once more and do nasty things with her. He wanted to smell her fragrant hair. He wanted to play with her viscous breasts, kiss her inner piece badly, and smell it like damn. He wanted all about her and all of what is in her. A few days was enough for him to suppress himself. His rope of contemplation is at its receiving end.

Cassandra Jilonan's

Another chaotic day greeted Cassandra. Her un-pacified feeling just made her dizzy. She did not sleep well last night. Until the morning did she not fall asleep. Her hair was messy, her eyelids were swollen and she got up tiredly to go to the kitchen. Her mother woke up early. She found her in the kitchen cooking porridge. When she saw her, she stopped what she was doing. She lowered the spoon she was holding and sat down next to her as she sat down.

"Do you want coffee daughter? I'll make you some." her mother tap her shoulder. She replied with a small smile.

Her mother got up and went to the coffee rack shelf. Took a mug hanging from a bamboo stove, topped with a little hot water and coffee. She came back with the mug and stood next to her again.

"Are you okay? I heard from your brother what happened. A beautiful but stubborn woman visited you here yesterday. Is that Jethro's fiancé?" she did not answer. She grabbed the mug and remained silent.

"You know daughter, I have full trust and support for you. Whatever decision you make, I am with you, your brother and I. So don't worry." she touched her back.

She wanted to cry in front of her own mother. But she restrained herself from doing that. She knew that even if her mother said that everything was okay inside, there was sadness hidden. Moreover, she did not want to give trouble to her mother. Especially now that the situation is chaotic. Cassandra blew softly; she cleared her throat and stopped the tears threatening to fall from her eyes. She faced her mother.

"I'm okay, mom. This is nothing. I just think of Papa." she said in a heavy voice.

"Your Dad knows what you're going through. In addition, I know he will not let us down. He guides us. He will not allow anything bad to happen to us. And if he just lives, he will definitely not want to see you cry." gentle statement of her mother.

"I don't know what will happen to us. But I promise you that I will protect you. Everything will be fine too." she said in a hopeful tone.

Jethro was restless while driving his Beetle Volkswagen. He would almost fly it along the uneven road of the hacienda. When he passed the copra and sugarcane plantation, he decided to park the car next to a small barn full of corn and rice. There he met some of the people in charge of the large hacienda, when they saw him they immediately stopped what they were doing. One of them approached him and introduced herself as Ising.

"What can we do for you, sir." she said with a wide smile.

"Please don't mind me, I am just looking for someone." he passed him and continued walking. When he reached Cassandra's little hut, he knocked quickly but not one of them answered.

Jethro turned around when he heard the girl's mother's voice.

"Oh son, why are you here? Is there a problem?"

"I wanted to talk to Cassandra, Tita."

"Ha? I thought she was with you now." she frowned. "Someone came after her here earlier, he said he introduced himself as your brother. You allegedly told him to fetch my daughter so you can talk."

"Shit!" he cursed on the back of his mind. He suspects that his father or Jillian plotted it. "Do you know who fetched her? And where did they go?"

"I haven't asked my daughter yet. They're in a hurry to leave because you're waiting. That's why I was surprised to see you here and looking for my daughter."

Jethro sighed deeply. He forced himself to control himself.

"When Cassandra arrives, Tita, call me right away." He gave the woman his calling card and hurried away.

He was driving his own car. He dialled Cassandra’s number. It only rang a few times.

"Shit! Shit!" he cursed repeatedly when no one answered on the other line. "Come on, Cass. Please, you answer." he kicked the cellphone again. It rang again.

He was restless. He was stroking his hair with too much stress. He can kill whoever was with Cassandra now. Finally, someone answered on the other line. Cassandra's voice registered.

"Hello?"

"Cassandra, where are you?" He asked quickly.

"Ahm, Jeth-" he interrupted what she was about to say.

"No, don't say anything. I'm going to find you, just stay were you are. Please, stay were you are. I will be there." Jethro was just surprised when the other line was cut.

He threw the phone next to the driver's seat. His eyes were heated. And he doesn't care about anything while driving his car. There was only one thing inside his head, and that was to see Cassandra. He would resort to all means just
