Chapter 95: Chapter 95
Jason had asked his employees to give suggestions on how to make that year's party a succeed but different from the others that had been held over the years and so far all the suggestions he had got did not impress him one bit.
'Why don't we ask, everybody to bring something good which they may not need anymore or if they can afford it, buy something and then the company can buy more and all these gifts can be gathered and distributed to needy children.
It will gain you the blessings and love of such children and go a long way to improving the image of the company'.
Nancy suggested one day as she was sitting with Sally and Jason, taking down notes of what needed to be bought.
Both Sally and Jason looked at her and we're amazed. They wondered why such an idea had not occured to them.
Nancy saw their surprised faces and hastened to add.
'I am sorry if I have spoken out of turn but as we enjoy, there are some people who may have nothing to eat or wear and nobody to buy them gifts and make the season a special one for them. We may not do much but we can at least make the season a special and memorable one for them and not just to employees and friends who can afford to give themselves a treat. That's just what I meant. I meant no disrespect.
'Brilliant!' Jason said smiling and looking at her with his heart in his eyes.
Nancy blushed and looked at Sally who smiled and nodded.
Sally could see the reason, her brother loved this girl. She was sensible and wise. If only things were different. She was just not in support of Jason marrying a woman no matter how good who was carrying another man's child. She had not really said as such to Jason but she hoped it worked out for Jason and Phoebe.
Phoebe had been with Jason fir a long time and had also helped him recover from his heartbreak,no matter the agreement they may have got into.
She had also spoken to Phoebe and she was doing well for herself in her boutique.
Her store was really making waves and she was pregnant with her brother's child
And from her utterances, Sally deduced that Phoebe loved Jason, though she tried to hide it.
And Sally knew that having his own children would bring joy into her brother's life and she was determined to let him have it. His heart may be ruling over his head, but she knew what had to be done.
The children had taken to Nancy immediately. She knew how to relate with the children. That was another point in her favour.
When Phoebe had visited earlier, she had not known what to do with the children and when she thought no one was watching, she had looked disgustedly at the children and though Sally had not seen her, Jason had and had pretended not to have seen her.
But seeing Nancy with his niece and nephew, he knew just how well she would love and take care of her own children. Their children, he amended if everything worked in his favour.
As Nancy noted down the things, Vera came and threw herself at Nancy and Jason was scared because of her pregnancy. He didn't want her hurt.
'Vera, could you play a little bit more gently? You could injure Nancy', he said.
'What have I done uncle Jason?' Vera asked on the verge of tears.
'You haven't done anything wrong love, It is just that I am not very strong at the moment and throwing yourself at me forcefully that way could cause some serious harm toy health. That is just what your uncle meant', Nancy said, patting her head.
Sally did not say anything. But the way Jason had been so protective towards Nancy had not gone unnoticed by her.
She felt that the best way was for Nancy to leave the house. She could afford having her own apartment now. She was no longer as helpless as when her brother had picked her off the streets.
The more they stayed together, the more they got closer and there would be no chance for Phoebe. And Phoebe who had the right to be in the house was living elsewhere.
Vaughn came and started dragging Nancy, 'Aunt Nancy, come and play with us'.
'I definitely will but I have to finish with my work here first else, your uncle Jason will interrupt us and we don't want that now do we?'
'No, of course not'.
'So be a bit patient', she smiled and looked at Jason who smiled admiringly at her.
The boy waited a minute and tugged at her arm again.
'Are you not through yet?' he asked.
'Okay, you can go and play with them', Jason said smiling at his nephew and thinking that he was jealous of the little boy who could demand Nancy's attention and not be denied.
'Sally and I can manage', he concluded.
Nancy looked at him to make sure.
He waved her off playfully and Sally nodded with a little smile.
They went off.
'She is really good with children. Not surprising since she will soon be a mother herself'. Sally noted looking at Jason who merely nodded, looking down at the list Nancy had made, not wanting to show how happy her observation had made him.
'But it still does not cancel the fact that she child she is going to have is someone else's and not yours. Yours is yours and someone else's bis that person's no matter how you want to justify it'.
'Not this discussion again. So if I decided to adopt a child, because I am not the biological father, negates the fact that the child had become mine after adoption?'
'But in that case you will have the approval of the authorities or the parents of the child but in this case, the father is unaware, heel though he may be'.
'What are you trying to say?'
'Stick with Phoebe who is pregnant with your child. Will you chose someone's child over yours? No matter how you feel about it's mother?' Think well and make the right decision'.
'You do not want to consider my happiness!'
'And you feel that Nancy will bring you the happiness, your own child won't be able to bring you? Look how happy Vera and Vaughn make you, and they are not your children, just relayed to you by blood, then assume how a child of your own blood would make you feel. It is the most wonderful experience in the world. And I should know since I am speaking from experience'
'Please can we just leave this discussion for now?'
'Yes, after you answer this question'.
'Snd what is that?'
'Why has Phoebe not packed in yet?'
Jason looked at his sister incredulously. He had thought that she of all people would see how similar Phoebe was to Rebecca and how different Nancy was from them and that she would take to Nancy instantly but her pregnancy was making his sister reject her as his possible bride.
'And Nancy, can afford to get an apartment of her own now, so why is she still here? Her stay here will complicate matters further cause you to be undecided but with her gone, you can think with a clear head Jason. I only have your best interest at heart's.
Jason patted her back, stood and left for his room. He needed to be alone with his thoughts.
