Phoebe went back to the house in deep thought

She decided that she knew what she must do first the next day.

She was shocked to see Romeo's bag full and knew what he was planning.

'Romeo, what is the meaning of this?'

'I thought that it was pretty obvious. I am leaving. I shall leave first thing in the morning'.

'But why? I know that I asked you to prepare to leave my life forever but there is still time and you do not need to go far from here. We shall still be seeing each other'.

'Listen to yourself. You want desperately to get married to Jason and it would seem that your wish is about to be fulfilled and yet you want me around and you are saying that being with Jason as his wife would not stop us from continuing our affair? What kind of person are you and for how long do you think you will be able to keep it up before you are found out and then all your careful planning would be ruined?'

'Then at least I will have been his wife for sometime and if he decided to divorce me, I will get a good lawyer who would get more than a huge chunk of his fortune as my alimony He dates not refuse me at least for the sake of his child. Then with the money, we can get married, if you want and be together for all time'.

Romeo was shocked.

'You mean you just want to get married to him just so that you can divorce him later? All because of his money? And you have decided to do this for us?'

'Yes. You fool. I do not love Jason and though I do not love you as well, I have feelings for you that are greater than the ones I have for Jason, so, it is very possible that I would want to choose you over him after I get his money of course. That way, we shall be established for life'

'But I do not need his money. You are now a great business woman and I have my career. Together, we can get by'.

'There you go again. How long are we going to keep arguing about this? And for how long will you keep saying this? You starting to sound like a broken record. Just trust me and you will see, everything will be alright'.

'I will feel like the other man in your life if you marry Jason or anyone else and I do not know if I can tolerate that second class feeling'.

Then you go to hell

Who do you think you are anyways? With my beauty and money, I can get any man that I want. she felt like saying to him but she knew that the time had not come for all of that. He knew so much about her plans and about her that she could not risk him snitching because of jealousy or anger and bitterness. She was a woman and she knew that he had developed feelings for her and that Jason had no such feelings towards her. She was not a fool. She was just keeping him for future purposes. She did not want to be lonely and she did not know yet if her plan would pay off.

'Well, alright, why did Jason send for you?'

'He wanted me to accompany him to the hospital tomorrow so we seek a second opinion from his doctor so that he could confirm that I was indeed pregnant and then a paternity test to determine if he was really the father of the baby' she said in a matter of fact manner.

'And you are not scared?' he asked astonished. He had thought that she would be scared because he was damn sure that the baby was not Jason's.

'Scared of what? The baby is his and that is what he will find out but what his decision would be is what I am yet to fathom'.

Romeo was shocked. Was he wrong then? She spoke as though the baby was truely Jason's

She would not be so confident about a DNA test otherwise.

'I shall not go to the hospital with him tomorrow', she announced.

Here it comes, Romeo thought. She is scared afterall.

'This is because I am expecting the supplies I have ordered and I have to be there to see it delivered and confirmed. I can't trust those girls yet. I have already told Jason this. But the day after, we shall go to the hospital and he shall get all the confirmation that he needs'.

'Oh!' was all he could say. He must have judged her wrongly then. But...

'There is no need overthinking the issue. If not for the kind of relationship we were having, Jason would not have doubted me in the first I stance but pregnancy does not know if a relationship is a fleeting one or not

That's what we should all bear in mind!'

Romeo nodded.

'And if are through with this exhausting argument, we may go to bed now?' she asked and winked at him. He was already hard. He could not resist her. She was like a drug in his bloodstream. How did he think he could bear to be away from her?

He carried her into the room. She was shocked because she had not expected that but started laughing happily. She was going to make sure that fortune smiled at her this time. She was going to eat her cake and have it!

After a delicious love making, Romeo stared at the wall thinking how he got there and what would become of him because he knew that things were not always the way one wanted it and that his time with Phoebe was limited, no matter what she said. What if Jason refused to divorce her? What if Jason fell in love with her or she ended up falling heads over heels in love with Jason and or with the life he provided her? He had seen Jason and he was not a bad guy at all and it would be easy for a woman to fall flat for him. What then?

He thought about this for a long time and finally fell into a deep troubled sleep.
