Jason got to Dr. Manuel's office. Indeed, he had gone to check on some patience. The receptionist asked him to wait.

'Good afternoon Dr'. Jason greeted the doctor as soon as he saw him.

'Good afternoon Jason Campbell. Please, come with me into my office'.

As soon as the door shut behind them, Jason went straight to the reason for his visit.

'Doctor, I need your help but before then, I'd like to ask you a few questions'.

'Go ahead'

'Doc, is it possible for a woman to get pregnant while on the pill?' Jason asked.

'It is. Not because of the ineffectiveness of the drug but due to certain conditions that were not met. She may have forgotten to take one day and once that happens, no matter how many she takes it afterwards, it would not make any difference.

Also, if it is a change of pills, it may not match with her body mechanisms and could prove to be ineffective'. the doctor explained patiently. 'But what is the use of all these questions you are asking?'

'One of my friends with whom I have an agreement of an open relationship with suddenly broke the news of her pregnancy to me. I had made sure that I had on condoms whenever we met and she assured me that she was in the pill too. So how could she get pregnant?

We agreed to have other partners. I asked her how sure she was that the baby was mine and not for any of her other partners and she said that the doctor that examined her said that she was about a month pregnant' and in that month, she had not been with any of her other lovers but me. I do not know what to do to confirm that the baby is mine'.

'You could do a paternity test if she is indeed pregnant. Because if you sheathed yourself, together with the pill, there should have been no such occurrence.

Yes condoms have tiny holes and the semen may pass through them apart from condoms bursting or the semen coming to the mouth of the condom and into the entrance of the vagina if you do not ease out of her while you are still erect. But apart from these conditions, she is not supposed to get pregnant.

I hate to say this but you know that you are an eligible bachelor and any woman would want to be with you and most importantly be your wife, so she could be putting up an act to trap you into marriage or her claim could be true'.

'Any woman, except the one I really want!' Jason murmured.

'What? What did you say?'

'Nothing doctor '.

'But it is really not a bad thing. Don't you want to have your own children?'

'I do but not with her and not now'.

'Then you have someone you love?' Dr. Manuel asked hopefully. Jason was his friend and they had become closer since his wife's elopement with his best friend. He had been the one who had treated him and cured him of his addiction to alcohol which he had got into trying to drown his sorrows and numb his pain.

He would really love to see him happy again and what better way to ensure that,but to have a loving wife and children round him?

'I do like someone quite alot but she seem not to care for me but I was going to work on that before this bombshell and it is going to ruin everything'.

' You could bring her to the hospital for a test as well as a DBA test to certify the perternity of the child. But if the child is indeed yours, then you know you have no option but to accept him. So you had better start getting ready in the event that the baby is confirmed to be yours'.

That was what he was scared of. He knew that Phoebe was of the same Character as his ex wife and he could never marry her but he could take responsibility for the child without getting married to her.

If there was anyone he wanted as his wife, then it was Nancy.

The thought shock him because he did not know that he had started thinking along those lines. He had not wanted to think about marriage just yet but Nancy was making him think Bout it and now that he thought of it,it was not a bad idea, provided it was with her.

He reached his decision and decided he had speak with Nancy but he had to know how to broach the topic with her but it had to be after he brought Phoebe to Manuel for the tests. Then he would have his facts straight and know how to present it to Nancy.

He stood and shook hands with the doctor.

'Thank you very much Doc. I shall call to inform you when I shall bring Phoebe for the tests'.

'That's okay. I am here to serve all my patients'.

As he drove home, Jason was lost in thought. If the child was his, would Phoebe accept to give him the child and go her way? Would she agree to have the baby without getting married to him?'

After the tests, he would have to discuss this with Phoebe as well, maybe even before saying anything to Nancy. That way, he would tell her about everything and the agreement he had reached with Phoebe. That was the best course of action.

He got back to the office and found Nancy looking very subdued. He thought it must be because of the strain in their relationship but Nancy was just thinking about all that Anna had told her and wondered about the lot of women in a world that men felt that they were lords.

The men most times went free but the woman gets blamed.

She should have been wiser and more in charge of her emotions and made better choices.

But what about the men? They were always right and always had to eat their cake and have it.

Rodney had gone back to his happy family while she was left to bear the responsibility of both their indiscretion.

unfair. It was just so unfair.
