Chapter 102: Chapter 102

When Nancy could not find anything to hit Jason with, she gave him a resounding slap.

Jason was taken aback and looked murderously at her but she was past caring.

'Do you think that I am like your women? You do not even know how to make the right choices in your relationships' She shouted in anger.

Even in his fury, Jason had to agree with her. Look at the mess he had made of his life and of things and he did not know how he would fix it especially since his sister seemed not to be seeing his side of things.

'Yes, I know that. And you are one of the wrong choices I have made. I thought you were different but you are just like the rest of them!'

'I am nothing like your women. You think you are wise but a mere woman is already taking you for a ride and you can do nothing about it'.

'Ehat are you talking about? What woman and what ride?'

'Foolish man. Phoebe is foisting another man's child on you and you're filled with joy thinking that you are about to become a father. How many times will you fall into the same pit of deception before you become wise? Other people's motto is 'Once beaten, twice shy' but you are ready to fall into the same pit as many times as you possibly can!' She said to him, looking at him furiously.

Oh goodness, she hadn't wanted to tell him this way.

'Your stupidity is talking. I can see. Phoebe is pregnant and the baby she is going to have is mine. It has been proven.

Nancy felt deflated. Now she would have to explain. She had been waiting for the right time to reveal this to him and now she had done it in the worst possible time. How was he going to believe her now especially without concrete proof? He would just assume that she was accusing Phoebe die to her jealousy.

'You thought, the test had been carried out fairly but it is not so', she said tiredly this time. 'I was in my quarters and she came to give me a warning to stay within my limit like she did the other time but this time she felt that I was faking not feeling well and that I should justify my pay. Then she got a call.

I did not know why I felt inclined to follow her. So I crept behind her and his somewhere I could overhear their conversation'.

'You mean, you eavesdropped on her?'

'At that time, my instincts felt it was necessary and indeed it turned out that I was right. She spoke to a man, I am thinking he is the lab technician at the hospital where the test was conducted.

I could not hear his own side of the conversation but he was demanding some form of payment that was not cash but a romantic time with her. I know this because she said she did not know if the plot was successful yet because you still have not agreed to marry her. She was afraid that you were having your suspicions and that except she became sure that you have been successfully deceived, she would not give him the best f**k if his life as she had promised him. I could hear no more because I was so horrified that I crept back into my quarters'.

'If what you are saying is the truth, then why have you not told me this since then, it has been quite a while since you stayed home for bed rest, isn't it?'

'I was waiting for the right time'.

'And you think that this is the right time? Are you saying this to get back at me for all I said about you and Alfred though you know that I speak the truth or are you trying to cover up your misendeavour?'

'Why would I want to do that?'

'Maybe because you are jealous? You want her out of my life. You have not really liked her, have you? And the test was done in the hospital of my most trusted friend and doctor!'

'I do not doubt that. But remember he was not really in charge of the test. There was a technician who took care of that and he might have a price that was paid him with bonus of extraordinary sex.

Did you seek a second opinion?' She asked reasonably.

'Why would I when it was carried out by a trusted friend'.

'Just like a trusted friend eloped with your ex wife?' she asked.

'How dare you, Nancy! It would seem that you are using my feelings for you as a shield to insult my intelligence'.He yelled at her.

' No, I am not, if such feelings really existed, that is. Because if it did, you would not be accusing me the way you just did or prove to me by the words you just uttered that you think so lowly of me. Why can't you see that everybody can make mistakes, including Dr. Manuel or his technician in particular?', she pleaded.

'Are you saying all these to get back at me because you feel that I think lowly of you?' he asked confused.

'Why else would she say all these if not to get back at you?' a voice said behind them.

They turned around simultaneously to find Phoebe and Sally standing at the door.

'Nancy, I know that you despise me. You have always been jealous of my relationship with Jason but I have always assured you that there was nothing to be afraid of. You were welcomed to him but you would not believe me. Now that I have become pregnant, you feel that you have lost your hood on him and you want to defame me by all your false accusations?' Phoebe said.

'But the accusations are not false. You came to warn me off Jason and hot a call and I overhead your conversation with the lab tech'.

'Did you dream about this or are you just making it up? You were supposed to be indisposed at the time, why would I want to come and trouble you especially since Jason had asked me not to visit the mansion when he was not around? I already knew that my pregnancy was annoying him, would I annoy him further by disobeying his order and why would I come here at that time by the way, when I have a business that requires my presence?'

'You are a liar, Phoebe. Why don't you allow the test to be conducted again, somewhere else?'

'Please keep your voice down, Nancy. Have you forgotten that there are children sleeping upstairs?' Sally asked angrily. 'Snd I am disappointed in you. You are a woman and you want another woman to go through such a test again? Do you know that you are questioning her dignity and integrity. You are supposed to protect the women folk given your experience but here you are humiliating them. If her pregnancy isn't Jason's, then I presume that yours is, right?'

'Mrs. Whitman, try to under....'

'Okease it is late and I am tired and I need to get some rest. We do not have to continue this discussion!'

'Dally, it's okay, I can submit myself for another round of test in any hospital just to prove that her accusations are false', Phoebe said knowing that Sally would not hear of it but wanting to increase their doubt in what Nancy had said and trust Phoebe more.

'You will do no such thing and it is not her business anyways. Just go upstairs and lie down. Jason will be with you soon, I'm sure of that'.

Sally said going upstairs.

Phoebe smiled and winked at Nancy in an annoying and irritating manner but Nancy knew that there was nothing she could do.

She knew that she was telling the truth but the support of Sally was going to make Phoebe get away with her deceit.

She felt helpless. Unless she had concrete evidence, she was never going to convince them. But she had hoped that Jason would trust her well enough to accept her testimony but obviously he didn't.

She went back to her quarters, Mrs. Potts looked at her sympathetically. And Nancy barely held in the tears till she got to her quarters and then she burst into tears.
