Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Omar had been struck by her beauty the moment she had entered the hall, sashaying with confidence her body. He had felt the rush of blood to one point of his body, as though just seeing her was enough to drive him crazy. And it really was. He had wanted to move towards her, had already started moving towards before he could even recognize what he was doing, but that was before his thoughts came back screaming at him. He had betrayed her in the worst way possible and there was no going back.
So, he became patient while is ex-lover tried to talk to him, while her hands on his arms now felt strangely repulsive. It was like a snail crawling up his hands and the urge to shake it off was becoming increasingly too much. Yet the way the other woman near kept the conversation going, it was proving hard to extricate himself from the group. He could not believe that he Omar, at this moment was feeling a little panicked. No, not when he was always in charge and control of all that happened.
Luckily Milka came and rescued him, and when she followed his eyes, she had come back to his eyes with a mischievous smile that he knew would mean her trying to hook him up. But when she looked at him, she realized the pain that flashed through his eyes was too real. “Heey bro, what is wrong.”
“Nothing, I’m just stupid you know.” He said as tears belied his eyes
“Stupid, why would you say that?”
“I messed up big time sis, she is the one I betrayed”
At that, her sister stopped her questioning while squeezing her hand. It was a nightmare. Trying to look around the people there, he had spotted Mr. Qin, who he planned on meeting after the party started. He had been watching her all through, the way she had moved around the place with such grace, as though she was born for the big stages. It seemed like her friend had brought her here to introduce some of her friends. He could not help but be curious about what she was doing.
When the event finally officially started and Lilian started coming down the aisle, somehow the first thing that had captivated him had been the face. He had been struck by shock when he had realized who she was and somehow, he had found himself moving towards Lisa. Then Lisa had seen Lilian and she had gone horribly pale, her fingers trembling by her side. How he had sidestepped people to be by her side, he did not know.
She must have been far gone because she had not even recognized who was holding her until after a while, when she directed an icy glare towards him and demanded with finality while still shaking to leave her. he had felt himself stiffen before he let her go, the absence of her body against his throwing his thoughts into turmoil. She had felt so right being right by his side, yet he had to acknowledge that he had no right to be with her.
When Alex stood by her, he felt unwanted and he therefore he turned and left after an earful from her. leaving, the rest of the event passed in a blur for him. Yet his face showed none of the turmoil he was going though. The only thing that kept running through his head was the memory of how right it had felt to have her in his arms. Brushing his fingers through his hair, he decided that enough was enough. Since all that had happened in the past, then it had better stay in the past.
After spotting Mr. Qin, Omar moved towards him and joined his group. They were talking about the economy of the nation and joining in on the fray, they had talked before he attempted to talk about his deal with Qin. Just as he started on the business proposal, Mr. Qin was quick to stop him, with “come on young man, enjoy the party, this is not a place for business. You know what, come see me this Monday we talk more. “With that, their conversations moved to other things and somehow, he had found himself enjoying talking to the older man now that business talk was over.
When the event was over, he drove his sister home, before he drove slowly to his apartment. The joy that usually accompanied his coming back to his house was no longer there. It felt eerily quiet. He had liked this quite but now, it grated on his nerves. Steeling his nerves, he calmed down and showered before he lay down on his bed. He knew that sleep would not come yet he could not help but attempt to. When he finally did, it was to see Lisa as the star in his dreams.
It was a replica of the first day that they had met. The way she had stolen his breath away and how much he had gotten into her. it was a night that he always remembered, their first date. When they had talked, it had not felt straining, rather, it had been a conversation with good flow of words. It was fun and beautiful and by the time he was done with her that night, he knew in his heart that it would prove hard to achieve his goal of doing his revenge while still interested in her. that was because he was interested in her. she was so pure and innocent, her eyes sparkled with clarity as she expressed herself and he had fallen ultimately, In love.
In the next scene, it had been past the revenge, where she now hated him. He had caused her family to break down and her father was in a coma due to the shock of things. They were moving in different directions and nothing could be done. He could not even explain himself to her, would she even listen, yet his part in what had happened could not be denied.
